  1. Guys sorry but I'm on the road and have not had the chance to read the board. What's the print run for issue #1? Thanks for the info.
  2. TWD will most likely come back in mid/late October so we are only looking at a 6 1/2 month break. That's one of the reasons I like having a break between episode 8 and 9. Without the break we would have over a 8 month wait. I'm a big fan of the Game of Thrones and there is a 10 month layoff between seasons. 6 1/2 months is not that bad.
  3. I'm reading the first couple of pages for this topic and it seems very few people thought it would be a good investment. I really enjoy reading the first couple of pages for various IMAGE titles to see what people were thinking.
  4. Guys, I have been collecting CHEW since issue #20 and love it. I purchased the TPB and I'm all caught up in the series. Hopefully SHOWTIME makes this into a show. It would be great to watch Dexter and have CHEW come on right after. I have one question does anyone know the print run for issue #1?
  5. I won't be surprised if/when Saga 1 RRP > WD 1...and I think it could happen this year. Just sayin' I own both so I would be happy if the SAGA went up in value but I seriously doubt this will happen. Walking Dead has so much going for it outside the comic industry. The TV show is one of the most popular, if not the most popular show on TV. I work with over 100 people and most of them watch the show. My moms friends watch the show, my daughers friends watch the show. People that don't collect comics love the show. Saga on the other hand has no appeal outside the comic collecting world. If you asked 100 random people what they think of SAGA I would guess at least 95 would have no idea what your talking about. I have one SAGA RRP and if the price reaches 2 dimes I'm selling it right away. IMO this title has a long way to go to be compared to the Walking Dead.
  6. You live in Orange,Calif. Do you go to Comics toons and toys in Tustin? I hand pick mine from there every Wednesday. I just started going there about a month ago. I now go there every Wednesday night after work. It's on my way home. That's usually were I purchase my 9.8 candidates. The two stores close to my house are Comics Unlimited and Beach and Ball comics.
  7. I'm not saying it's not a better read. Thief of Thieves, PP, and Revival have TV deals or might be getting TV deals. Same with CHEW. This has lead to a lot of speculation and price hikes. NoWhere Men's price is not based on this. So what's the reason the title is taking off? The print run is only 11,815 but I think Think Tank was in the 6,000's. I have read the comic and think it's good but not great IMO. One more thing off topic does anyone have the print runs for CHEW #1 and Bedlam #1?
  8. Wow 40 bones that's incredible. I'm not a negative guy but something tells me that of all the recent IMAGE #1's that I own this is the title I should dump. I have between 7-10 #1's and if I can get $30+ issue I know I will be kicking myself a year from now when the title will most likely be around $10. I understand why titles like SAGA, Thief of Thieves, PP, and Revival are hot but why is this title? Somebody help me change my mind. I don't like having negative thoughts about a title I own.
  9. I work in Laguna Niguel and live close to the Los Alamitos Race Track.
  10. Question for the board. I see lots of posts where you guys are getting multiple copies of different issues at your local LCS or on line from a company. If you submitted these copies to CGC would most of them get a 9.8? If not what percentage do you think would? I only purchase CGC graded comics when I'm buying back issues and I have a HUGE problem getting 9.8 quality copies of new issues at my LCS(and I have 5 that are close by). I have sent emails to some of the on line companies that are recommended on this board and every one said they can't guarantee I would receive 9.6 or 9.8 quality books. Are you guys having the same problem?
  11. Guys I live in Southern California and I went to 5 different LCS yesterday. I did not go there to purchase any SAGA but I did look to see if they had any back issues for sale and here are the results(I will only discuss first prints): Not one of the five stores had a #1 or #2. Only 1 store had a #3. They were $15 each and were in NM condition. Not one store had a #4. 2 stores had a #5. All were VF/NM, the typical condition you see new issues on the display counter. 2 stores had a #6. All were VF/NM, see above. 3 stores had #7 and #8. Conditions ranged from VF/NM to NM. I could not find one copy that had a chance at 9.8. I also called two other stores and both had no SAGA back issues. BOTTOM LINE: At least in my area there is very little SAGA back issues available for sale.
  12. I'm sure I'm in the minority but I only collect the regular issue. I'm not into second prints, variants, CGC yellow since I'm not a big fan of people writing their names on a comic. Besides the last variant(102 or 103?) I don't have one in my collection. I'm trying to put together a CGC 9.8 run(blue) so therefore I am somewhat of a completist but I draw the line on multiple covers, which IMO is a big scam.
  13. correct. I just read the TPB and in my opinion it's the second best title that image has behind the walking dead. I have read pretty much all of the TPB's that are out(saga, thief of thiefs, manhattan projects, hoax hunters, think tank, etc) and it was a much better read IMO.
  14. eBay that thing before the price drops, its mad how much those go for, a 9 year old book People have been saying that for years but the price still continues to go up. The Walking Dead is an anomoly folks. Yes it's only 8 or 9 years old but it has numerous things going for it: 1) low print run(around 7500 copies), 2) very popular comic that continues to attract new readers, 3) one of the most popular shows on TV. Over 10 million people watched the last episode. As we all know supply and demand determine the value of almost every collectible. Walking Dead #1 might go down in value but I would be very surprised if a 9.8 was under $2,000 a couple of years from now. IMO it's a good long term investment.
  15. i did that on a PM not the message board. Plus if I recall your price was 10 to 20 times guide. I have gone to numerous conventions and bought and sold. Funny when I sell top notch stuff to dealers I never get more then guide price but the same comic in the same condition will be sold at 10 to 20 x guide at multiple dealer tables. I understand the need for a profit but it's funny how the CGC grade does not matter when a dealer is selling it(meaning I hear how the comic was undergraded from the dealer to warrant a bigger price) but it's gospel when a dealer is purchasing it. All I'm asking for is consistency folks and to respect people on this board.
  16. Wow the arrogance. What you just did sir is cost yourself any possible busines I might have had with you. I spend thousands monthly on comics as an investment for my children and after your response I will NEVER spend one cent on any of your comics. Some of you people need to learn some manners and relax. If a poster wants to just sell or buy comics who cares? I think some dealers who post here and always ask for the high end price have problems with guys that sell comics for reasonable prices. It's obvious why some of you have problems with this guy. It's because he has great comics and reasonable prices. I'm so used to seeing some of you charge 20X guide for comics that are not even in demand.
