  1. Same here. Me and my two buddies hit three LCS right when they opened the doors and there was zero pink covers available. Obviously they were pulled which is probably what happened in most LCS.

  3. Can you please list the conditions of all the comics you are selling. Thanks.
  4. Guys I appreciate the information. I purchased my copy from a comic store in Hawaiian Gardens, CA in 1978. When I got married in 1990 I sold my entire comic collection ( I had every key marvel except Hulk #1 and FF #1) for $5,000. That figure was a good price at that time. I actually had 4 collectors come to my house and passed on my collection before someone actually bought it. That collection would easily be worth over $100 K today. I had an Amazing Fantasy #15 in fine condition plus 10 copies each of Hulk #`180 and #181. The only comic that I kept was the House of Horror #1 because that was my favorite comic at that time. I was hoping to keep it but I had to come up with money during tax time and I had to sell it.
  5. When I was a kid I purchased House of Horror #1 at my LCS. Unfortunately I sold it about 10 years ago. It was a one shot series with Frankenstein on the cover. Does anyone know the current value. Is this a desirable item?
  6. If you dont mind can you say how much this cost at the convention?
  7. I'm not sure if I can post this here and if not please let me know and I will delete it. A friend of mine from work has hundreds of boxing magazines from the early 80's (Ring, KO, Boxing Illustrated). He brought in about 50 and most of them have covers of all-time greats like Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran, and Marvin Hagler. The issues that I looked at were all in great shape (NM and NM +). Do they have any value and if so where would be the best place to sell them. He does not sell on EBAY so that's not an option. I tried to price some of them on EBAY last night but similar issues being sold were not in good shape. I know in comics there is a big jump in price between grades but I have no idea if that's the case with boxing magazines. Any help will be appreciated.
  8. I agree with a lot of what you said but the problem is most posters don't include the price they are paying and most are looking for great deals. The result is most members avoid it. It's really to bad because IMO if the WTB forum had rules similar to the sales forum it would result in most of the board members reading it. It would no longer be full of tire kickers. This would result in more collectors finding the comics they need.
  9. You can post trades in the WTB forum. The problem you will find is not many members read that section. It's infamous for time wasters and low ballers (tire kickers). There are some members that take it serious and you might make a deal but I would be surprised if even 25% of the boards members read the WTB forum. I say this because whenever I talk with members I rarely find one who reads this forum. They avoid it for the reasons I listed.
  10. According to GPA it's worth about $40. There have been 8 sales in the last 90 days with an average price of $39.
  11. I don't see that. #1 in CGC 9.8 condition is selling consistently for $3,000 and #2 is selling for $1,400.
  12. Great seller and I look forward to purchasing from him again. He sold me two raw 9.8 candidates and did an incredible job of making sure they arrived to me in the same condition as he sent them. Great seller , great guy, and a great addition to the forum.
  13. No, the print run for Walking Dead #1 is lower. Here are the numbers: Walking Dead #1 - 7,266 copies. Invincible #1 - 10,751 copies. As you can see the print runs are very low for both titles.
  14. 100% agreement. If the movie actually happens I think it has a great chance to hit $2,000.
  15. I remember when I paid $1,200 for WD #1 in CGC 9.8 condition and that night I read on the boards how WD#1 had peaked. Over the next couple of years I heard the same thing mentioned ample times as I watched the price go from $1,200 to $1,500 to $2,000, to $2,500, and now $3,000. People need to remember that the print run for issue #1 is less than 7,500 copies. Plus the TV show is a huge hit and will probably be on TV for at least 5 more years. I'm sure it will be followed with a movie or two plus there is already one Walking Dead spinoff on AMC. Walking Dead will be with us for many years to come. I work in a Federal Building with about 1,000 people. You would be astonished on how many people watch this show. It's the one show that pretty much every group/age enjoys. The TV show and comic is truly something special and I doubt we will see anything comparable to it for a long time.
  16. You are correct there have been 4 or 5 ads in the WTB forum looking for this issue. I think I did it twice and I was offering to pay $350 (I think that was the price) but not one person contacted me.
  17. You might be right and time will give us the results. If these were purchased two years ago the buyer would have made a huge profit. In your opinion what modern comics are a good investment.
  18. I would stick with key issues with low print runs. I would stay away from varient covers and 2nd prints. I would put the money into #1 issues/first appearances that might become or have become TV shows or movies. Off the top of my head I would consider the following (All are CGC 9.8 blue universal): Preacher #1. The price has almost dropped 50% in the last year so it might be a good time to purchase a CGC 9.8 copy. Season 2 starts in June and if the show takes off who knows how high the price might go. Scalped #1 - I"m pretty sure there are less than 100 copies in CGC 9.8 condition. This is a great read and if it actually becomes a TV show the price should go way up. Walking Dead #2 - Less than a year ago you could purchase a CGC 9.8 copy for less than $1,000. The current price is around $1,500 but if you look around you might be able to find one for $1,200. There is a chance the price could drop under $1,000 and if it does it would be a smart buy. The print run for issue #2 was 6,067 copies and it's not that easy to find in CGC 9.8 condition. Walking Dead #79 - Unless you are collecting a CGC 9.8 Walking Dead run you would probably not know how hard this issue is to find in CGC 9.8 condition. From issues #1 -#100 this is the hardest issue to find in 9.8 condition. As of today there are only 31 copies graded 9.8. The last copy sold for $400 on EBAY. Raw copies don't cost much. If you can find a raw 9.8 candidate you could hit the jackpot if CGC gives it a 9.8. Raw copies can be found for under $20 but you will only make money if it hits a 9.8 CGC 9.6 copies can be had for $50. Invincible #1 - If the movie actually happens it will easily go over $1,500. A copy just sold on EBAY for over a $1,000. Great read and not that easy to find in 9.8 condition.- Y the last Man #1 - If a TV show or movie actually happens this will easily double the current value. You can currently purchase a CGC 9.8 copy for around $600. This is a great read and it should stay popular for a long time.
  19. If anyone is interested my buddy is selling the first 10 issues of the series. All are CGC 9.8 blue universal. He told me he will give the buyer a good deal. If this post is inappropriate please let me know and I will delete it.
  20. I read the entire story and I'm glad I stuck with it. I still don't understand what happened to this title. The first year it was out it received a lot of interest on this site. A lot of investors were pouring money into this title. If I recall the first issue was selling for $70 in CGC 9.8 condition and a CGC 10 copy sold for over $7,000 (I'm 90% sure this number is correct).
  21. I much prefer to purchase slabbed books online now, because in my experience sellers often tend to overstate grade and I end up disappointed with what I receive. Even then it's not usually worth the hassle to return it and eat the shipping charges so I'm stuck with it. I usually only purchase raw if it's one I want for my personal collection in any grade or I'm willing to gamble on a low-cost book. Books graded "NM" seem particularly notorious for overgrading, as I've received them with defects ranging from several color-breaking creases to ripped or missing interior pages and water damage. From a buyer's perspective, I want sellers to provide an estimated grade and several pictures. This gives a starting point and lets me decide from there. If I'm looking for 9.0 it saves the time reading through a 4.0 listing. An estimated grade gives a good starting point to review photos and decide for myself. Without an estimated grade there's no reference from the person who can see it in person. From there, sellers should include front and back photos at a minimum. A single fuzzy cover shot through a dingy bag with the bottom edge cut off in the photo doesn't cut it. From a buyer's perspective, I want sellers to provide an estimated grade and several pictures.
