  1. You get a summer up there these days??? I must have been away too long. I remember days when the cloud cover was slightly brighter but that's about it...
  2. Depending upon the timing of the guests, I too may have to duck out and watch egg chasing in a nearby pub. Would it be too much to ask for the Con venue to screen the match. That way, our American cousins could bear witness to real sport as well as being able to pander to their comics-based OCD.
  3. I'm coming (Fnar Fnar) on the Saturday evening but can't make Sun or Mon as I need to be back at work Looking forward to actually meeting some of you. Andrew, noticed your name was absent from Nick's wine and dine list. You not heading down to join the festivities?
  4. I wanted you to win Me too. At least you turned up to the match and made some impact. I think Boro forgot that they were supposed to play against Burnley.
  5. I believe their has been a consistent and collective "Meh" Swampie and Animal Man have been pretty good though. Also, Uncanny X-Men got cancelled then restarted Wolverine got another 27 monthly titles Both Punisher and Ghost Rider got cancelled, Then restarted Then cancelled Then restarted Then cancelled Then restarted Rinse and repeat... Stan Lee is coming to LSCC Spurs have been winning footy matches
  6. Similar to me really. I'm only 35 so the reprints mainly came out before I was born. There was an LCS in Boro (Books n Comics) which sold bundles of UK marvels, 5 for £1. That box provided me with almost complete runs of Transformers and Action Force. The Punisher reprint was my first "Pull List" in that I had a standing order at my local newsagent. This was a good few years before I could afford those pricy little yank comics that would tempt me. My prized (And sadly missing) Marvel Super-Heroes set was picked up at a local car boot sale for 10p per issue. I also picked a stack of Hulk reprints (With Cap Britain / Black Knight backups). Isn't nostalgia brilliant???
  7. 70's UK Marvel reprints Every time I see a post like this, I miss my missing copies of Marvel Super-Heroes (Silver Surfer and UXM) reprints) more and more. The first comic I ever remember buying was the UK reprint of X-Men 1. I must have been about 5 years old (Circa 1980). Congrats on getting a copy with the free gift intact. It's a great looking copy.
  8. It's good to see Cal's multiple personalities so deeply in conversation with each other. Cal has much to say And so does Cal.
  9. Congrats on those SS books but especially the 9.8 Naughty Editions
  10. Looks like GL has been rubbing his lantern too hard.
  11. Beautiful books. X-Men 50 is one of my all-time favourite covers
  12. Obligatory weekly thread being ignored bump Straying from the usual inane ramblings, and following an in-thread chat with Whizzer, would anyone here be partial to chipping in on a transatlantic bulk buy from HotFlips? My current method of relying on a Manhatten based relative to fly them over is about to expire. Even with HotFlips pricing, shipping to these shores can make Archives and Mylites a little prohibitive in bulk. If there is any interest in combining an order to split the shipping let me know.
  13. So was I After several blows to the head from my wife, I'd like to state for the record so was I. In many ways, women are superior to men. They are wonderful beautiful individuals with emotions and opinions. Someone please call an ambulance......... Bleeding profusely.................. Loosing.......consciousness..................................................
  14. Women seem genetically inclined that way. The only interests most think are worth pursuing have to do with relationships, mating, raising children etc. That's their singleminded focus in life. Women are not single minded. They can think about shoes AND handbags. Also their ability to multi-task allows them to do this simultaneously.
  15. Sweet mother of pearl!!! What a beautiful room. Those are some really well presented statues. Great work fella.
  16. Still no sign? I'd heard that the Wolverhampton Magistrates Court was backed up. Hope he doesn't have to wait too much longer.
  17. Too true. We are definately the crown of the North East. Not like those monkeys from north of the Tees.
  18. East Midlands local news last night; Police station in Nottingham gets firebombed Shops smashed and looted in Leicester Someone chopped down a hawthorn hedge in Derby. Apparently it's the wrong time of year to trim your hawthorn.... Anyone heard from Gav today or is he still out "Window shopping" in Wolverhampton city centre. As for looting in Boro - unless there is a sudden surge in the need for excessive fake tan, I'm not sure it's worth it.
  19. My second modern drek submission finally came home today. Please excuse the quality of the pics but every time I have enough spare cash in my paypal account to buy a decent scanner, Dre forces me to spend it on his lovely Zenescopes FYI - Dre did not supply these, hence some not being 9.8 First up, and my pick of the sub; GFT 57 C2E2 Belinda variant Followed by a not-so-great grade Sela variant The remainders are all issue 1 variants of Boom Studios new Hellraiser series (Probably my favourite new series of 2011) I got 2 copies of cover A in 9.8 2 copies of cover B in 9.8 2 copies of the Larry's Comics variant in 9.8 Just because I own some of his variants in no way means I share any of that D-Bags bigoted views And finally, but nowhere near as high a grade, a 9.4 and a 9.2 of the Clive Barker painted virgin cover
  20. I'm in the process of migrating my collection from poly to Mylites2. I've been quite regimented in replacing poly bags and boards every 5 years. It starts out as a fun little task but soon becomes endless days of repetition. This thread has been an absolute godsend in ensuring I'm buying the right bag type for my books. Definately needs to be stickied up there with Boozads shipping guide.. Now all I need to find is a relatively low cost way of obtaining the Mylites in the UK. Based on board consensus Hotflips would be the way to go if I was in the U.S. Any UK boardies got any local recommendations? P.S. Stickie please
