  1. Just got back from a week in Padstow. Fish and Chips, Cornish Pasties, Cider and surfing at Newquay all for twice the price of an all inclusive week in Cape Verde. Gotta love holidays in the UK. Fantastic weather all week although Cornwall has a distinct lack of comic books. Thank crunchie I took my iPad and my latest copies of Marvel Ultimate Graphic Novel Collection. Cap Britain - Crooked World is legendary I've not read those stories stories since the very early 70's. Well worth a read, even just for the fight with Slaymaster in a Forbidden Planet store. You could tell it was old school. The FP had a copy of UXM 137 in the window.
  2. Subbed a lot of books through them at LSCC. Really helpful. They have provided me with a few updates when my books have been delayed by CGC. Both Chandler and Sharon seem very friendly and knowledgable. The only issue I had was the incorrect pricing on one of my subs. They soon identified the issue and refunded the amount. In their defence, their booth at LSCC was VERY busy and even I missed the mistake until I got home and took a close look at my invoices. I'd be happy to sub via them again (But will probably use Nic @ Comicana out of UK boardie loyalty and Nic's pre-screen services)
  3. Yeah. I've already contacted Nic and John about setting up a pull list. In stark contrast to DH, I used APIS for the first time this week as well for 3 copies of the Image FCBD book (I'm really looking forward to Revival). 2 probable 9.6's (1/2 ,mil bindery tear at top of spine). 1 probable 9.8. All bagged, boarded, re-bagged in brown paper then shipped in a nice sturdy cardboard shipping packet (Free P&P). Reasonable pricing. Decent quality books and high quality packaging. Can't recommend them enough. The only issue I have with them is the way they list their books. No ability to pre-order. It's just first come, first served on a Thursday AM. Plus they limit a lot of their books to 1 per customer
  4. Talking of online stores (And swerving the recurring X-Force #1 issue). Avoid Disposable Heroes at all costs. As one of the few online retailers who do put caps on how many issues you are allowed to order as well as offering free P&P I decided to put in a fairly big order for some books over the next few weeks (Walking Deads, Revival, Dancer, Hellraiser...). All together I spent £156 First set of books arrived on Monday. 2 Copies of ToT4. Shipped in an A4 card backed envelope and folded to h3ll. E-mailed them on Monday asking them to ship me another couple as those two were damaged. No response. Followed up on Wednesday No Response Followed up again this morning Still no response. I'm packaging the ToT's back up and sending them back with a demand for a full refund for the entire order and the return P&P. Obviously sending them back recorded delivery. I'm assuning that if I still get no response, I can unleash Paypal on them. Avoid them like the plague!!!
  5. +1 +1 My money is going on a guilty verdict. I can see no legitimate way he can get off with it.
  6. Brian Robson hasn't applied for any jobs recently... At one point, (After getting the sack from us) he applied for every managerial post going. He's been a little quite recently. Perhaps he's now biding his time, waiting for Ferguson to quit.
  7. Watch this http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/linkara/at4w/30274-x-force-1 It's just one of those stupid direct line adverts followed by a screen saying unable to play the vid. Perhaps the awesomness of Leifeld's artwork has killed the internet???
  8. Hercules isn't Asgardian, he was part of the pantheon of Greek gods (Same as the superior, yet living-imparied Ares). Just trying to think if there are any other god squads outside of Norse or Greek mythology in MU...
  9. Firstly, I now only have 2 copies of X-Force left after we recently ran out of loo roll. Secondly, I think DD, Spidey and FF are curently sign to aother distributor so no chance of an uber-crossover any time soon. I've actually no idea why mutants in particular (And Spidey) are still hated and feared. Probably stems back to their original concept and Stan trying to highlight cultural and ethnic boundaries (Not sure if there were any black superheroes when XM #1 was created). I think them being outside of the ethnic norm was their unique selling point. Making them social pariahs gave them an edge over the "Nice as pie" Avengers and FF. Just my 2 pence worth. probably wrong but who gives a chuff???
  10. Although my love of console games (I'm a 360 owner) wants' me to participate here, I think it's time for a brief interruption. LSCC moderns were graded earlier this week Just e-mailed for the grades. Uncanny X-Men 128 sig series (Stan and George) 9.4 (Actually was a fast track economy so it would ship with the non-fast track moderns) GFT 60 (Sela) 9.8 GFT 60 (Belinda) 9.8 GFT 61 (SDCC 11) 9.6 GFT 63 (Fan Expo) - 2 copies, both 9.8 GFT 64 (Ltd edition) 9.8 GFT 65 (Beachbum Sela) 9.8 GFT 65 (Beachbum Belinda) 9.8 Very happy with all but the GFT 61. The best news though is the score on the NYX 3 I picked off the shelf at LSCC from the APIS stand for £20. 9.6 I'd actually had both their copies in hand but stupidly put one back
  11. +1 (thumbs u +2 (thumbs u GWF (Good work fella)
  12. **Spoon** me indeed. Welcome back Gav. You staying around???
  13. [laugh] Explains the nosebleeds. In other news I was informed today by my LCS (50 Miles away in Plymouth) that they are opening a store in Cornwall so I'll have less of a trip soon. That and Villa staying up has made my day When and where? I'm off to Cornwall for a week at the end of the month.
  14. Hamilton Ricard wasn't even nominated. Disgrace
  15. Mannup!!! The yanks could be lurking and you are letting the side down.
  16. Good work fella Any idea on your grades?
  17. I'm off to see it tonight. Can't wait. Although I'm more excited about the fact thats it's only 1 month till Prometheus What did you think of the movie? or Lots of fun. First half was a little slow but once someone turned a little angry it just got mental. Definately off to see it again if I get a chance. Without spoiling it, standout points were; Hulk v Loki Hulk v Thor (Grand in Grand Central Station) The whole cinema burst into laughter.
  18. I've already got them all, however, a PM will be arriving shortly.
  19. FT seems to be the most likely option. Just wanted to check out the competition before commiting. Thanks for the feedback.
  20. Topic change. For those who use mail order companies for their monthly pulls, which company do you use. Historically I've used Disposable Heroes due to their low price, however, with that low price comes a significant reduction in packaging. I recently bought a couple of copies of Hellraiser from them and was surprised to find them shipped bagged and boarded only in a jiffy bag. No additional card to support them. Luckily the stock on these Boom books is pretty sturdy so they survived the post with no damage. I'm not sure I'd use them again if I wanted to ensure my books arrived undamaged. So who do you use? What is their P&P like (Price and quality)? What average grade would you give to the books you receive from them?
