  1. Hey, I like this idea! And let's add SS to the mix too, that's where there's a real manpower drain...
  2. Because modern comics are Speculatronic!! Speculatronic soon to be a made for TV movie on HGTV. Get your copies of this post before they EXPLODE!!!!!!!
  3. Problem is until you do there are only 2 graded for everyone to buy. All the shops round my way are sold out and so are most online retailers so I for one will find a copy worth grading In fact I could easily go and buy a few first prints tomorrow but not 2nd prints. You may be right but it's not a lot of peoples experience. You're not talking about a 1st print, though, you're talking about a 2nd print - which in the vast majority of cases will never be worth slabbing. Chew is blazingly hot right with 1st print #1s in 9.8 selling for $500-600. And what are the last couple of sales of 2nd print CGC 9.8s? $66 and $34, respectively. 2nd print Thief of Thieves #1 in 9.8? $50. 2nd print Saga #1 in 9.8? $50. With fast-tracking fees, ebay & paypal fees, you're looking at about $5 in profit - and that's only if the book actually hits a 9.8. People keep talking about the low print runs and perceived scarcity in grade of later printings of issue #1s - what they fail to mention is that it doesn't matter how low the print run is, 99.99% of the people who collect the book will not be interested in paying anything above cover price for a reprint. Unless you hold it for 25 years and wait until the OCD collectors demand all iterations in 9.8.
  4. I'll determine who the wolf pack goes up against. Dog pack kids...dog pack. There is no WolfPack. But there is a DogPack.
  5. I think part of the silliness comes from the speculator fervor on here that can allow a book that has not even reached issue 3 to have a thread with over 2000 replies and almost 50000 views.
  6. The all powerful dre spoken. I'm sorry, but this sort of hero worship is sickening. Monkey, Dre's mystical powers act in two ways. He can touch a book and it will be 9.9 He can also use the power of his mind to downgrade your 9.8s to 9.4's by purely thinking about them. I wouldn't go submitting any books in the next few months. You could be in for an unpleasant surprise. Dre is a great salesman, Full stop... Sorry! But who are you? Oh a legend according to Andy... And why I'm at it why do so many people in here (the rivival thread and wider modern section), seem intent on bad mouthing, trolling and making things uncomfortably personal towards other board members. It simply making this place a negative place to hang out. There is genuinely a lack of respect in this place at times and Dre is one of the board members that a lot of people respect, me included... I dont know what problem you have but this isnt really a nice way of behaving IMO In all honesty I just don't get all this, I left the boards a short while back and I am starting to regret coming back. I really want to address this. First, when I'm going through a thread and reading posts, it pains me to try and decipher what people are trying to say. I don't know if it's the bad spelling or horrific grammar. Maybe it's a comibination of both? I really want to read what you guys have to say but it just makes my head spin. You guys read comic books, right? Second, most people respect Beachbum, but he's in this to make money. Same with Larry'sComics. I have respect for both, I'm not badmouthing either of them. But they are in business to make money. Third, this "place" wasn't intended to make people feel good about themselves. There are going to be people with different views and opinions. Deal with it. Man up and get it out there. Don't get all whiny and say how negative this place is. I get really tired of that set of thinking. "Oh, people arent' agreeing with me, why are you being so negative?" What the hell is wrong with you. You have to talk and argue and listen. That is life, that is the world. People want to think that the internet is this great salvation. Where they can find people that think exactly the way they do, love the things that they do, agree with everything that they say. Wake the heck up. The internet is not the messiah reborn. It is just as cruel, judgmental, cynical, and diabolical as the real world. I just have this vision of board members following whatever someone says on here like blind cattle. This is a ridiculously long tangent that makes absolutely no sense. I'm hungover as hell and spent the night sleeping on both of my hands. Now my hands feel like two big sausage patties tickling ants in a bowl of sugar. This post is pure 100% unadulterated WIN
  7. Thanks, bud. It's like Christmas when I get Econs in because half the time I have forgotten they were out there from 6 months ago.
  8. A couple Nick Cardys and my last Earl Norem:
  9. I didn't even check the census on this one. No need. Rudy Nebres did a beautiful job on this cover and has an awesome signature.
  10. Latest Celebrity book: Tia Carrere - "Akivasha"
  11. I don't. But those rule. I was out of comics from late 92-98. All of the rare and low print run comics from that time period make me swoon. I am such a dork.
  12. His head isn't detached. Did someone say it is? The actual listing we are referring to says "detached head" and I have seen it a few other times labeled that way. Is that notation on the slab, or is that part of a description in a ComicLink listing? CL has been calling it a "decapitation cover" for years, for some reason That's what the CGC note says "Decapitation cover." Not "detached head," which is significantly more awesome.
  13. It's not really coercive. It's just good business. If you only have a finite amount of comic money, you only have to keep it (potentially) tied up for a finite amount of time. You also don't have to worry about someone "accepting" your offer a week after you made it (and the market has changed) and then being pilloried in the Probation thread if you try to "back out." A couple of years ago, I would have been much more mellow, but we now have a much more aggressive marketplace.
  14. I never got an invoice. There has to be some kind of story behind it.
