  1. I bet he has an encyclopedic knowledge of it.
  2. I feel like I am in another world when I come on here sometimes. Some folks saying Tarantino is a bad director because he hasn't changed his style in filmmaking. Some people hoping for Zack Snyder director's cut of anything. It's just weird sometimes. I still remember watching Reservoir Dogs for the first time in '93. I mean do people realize it wasn't Killing Zoe?
  3. I found the instrumental soundtrack to much like the other works he (Elliott something) did: Interview with a Vampire and The Pelican Brief.
  4. Tarantino did re-writes to "Crimson Tide" in '95. That was a tight little thriller with a crew. I'm going to give him the benefit for now. Maybe his pop-culture references will be of the show, like it really happened to this crew too. I wonder if this backlash would have happened if he worked on Casino Royale. Probably not.
  5. I think it’s amazing no one has noticed that stuff like this has always happened with funny book movies. Almost 40 years ago, Donner was replaced by Richard Lester, after he shot 2/3’s of “Superman II.” If the internet existed back then, that movie would have been ripped-apart by bloggers. But, you know what, I never knew how troubled that production was until the Donner Cut was announced. To this day I still prefer the Theatrical Cut even, because I’m so used to it while growing up. Maybe the internet tells us a little too much on these productions and we should just dial it down a tad. Just disregard the disregardable as one would say. If it was 1980, we would be calling Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder scabs for going back into production after Donner was ousted. Even Gene Hackman had the scruples not to return to shooting after. We would be taking digs on the mad-cap reshoot scenes as well (that roller-skating haunts me worst than bat nipples.) Personally, I don’t really care about all these film troubles as it’s almost an omen (Donner-natch,) to how the film is going to turn out. Let the finished movie speak for itself after it’s issues Gone With the Wind, Titanic, for example. Plus, it’s all about personal taste too. Some can watch BvS and see a “Dark Knight” quality movie and others might want more of a BvS in a Dark Night movie.
  6. Summer's been over for months and based on the critical drubbing JL took, audiences didn't want another "underachieving" (based on box-office/critical reactions) popcorn movie. Praised ones like Thor and probably The Last Jedi can ride easier on "word-of-mouth." I think Wonder Woman would have cleaned up during this time period, maybe not as much as it did this summer, but reasonably as good. Audiences are looking for more heart-warming or dramatic fare as they pass through the holidays. These days are probably rough on a lot of folks. I imagine they rely on something they can identify with more, with inspirational direction than a guy "that dresses up as a flying rodent" (Batman Forever) fighting bad CG. There are exceptions to this rule as well, for example during the Christmas of '96 we got a 'slasher' present with "Scream," that showed legs that kept it in theaters to the next summer.
  7. The 4 hour cut of Dances With Wolves is another one. Discovered the Director's Cut of The Good, Bad and The Ugly last year too. I used to be a fan of Director's Cuts, but realized most of the time they are just cash grabs. Most of the time they are unnecessary or you don't even notice the 15 seconds to 10 minutes added.
  8. This is where I admit to watching "Steel" in the theater.
  9. Unfortunately, since its a licensed property it will be remembered a while down the road as one of the worst TV shows of all-time. Soon, Phoenix and Manimal will fall of the "Worst" list.
  10. Yup. Like Tom Cruise, I only see Will Smith as the actor and not the character in most of his movies. Now, I have always liked Will Smith's energy he brings to stuff since rap days and "Fresh Prince," but he hasn't taken a lot of risks in his movies, the way Charlize Theron in "Monster" or Christian Bale in "The Machinist" per say. If he has, let me know, but for the life of me I can't think one role since Independence Day he didn't play "Will Smith." Please don't say rom coms like "Hitch" or "I am Legend" either. I want low-budget gritty ones where he disappeared into a role. I mean even Tom Cruise did this once or twice in "Magnolia," "Collateral" and to comic perfection "Tropical Thunder."
  11. I chuckled here and there throughout the new-ish “Baywatch” movie. I started think that this wasn’t as bad as critics made it out to be. Some of the jokes were downright idiotic though, despite the game cast, who awaited a sturdier plot. As soon as it was over, I realized that it had indeed sucked. 22 Jump Street it’s not.
  12. "The red capes are coming. The red capes are coming."
  13. DC animated: Justice League: Dark Teen Titans: Judas Contract $4 each on DVD at Wally World. Decent prices for the animated division I pretty much gave up on.
  14. Stranger Things DVD/Blu Ray combo is $10 at Target too!
  15. Just spent $182 at Target. $10 TV DVDs, (Walking Dead, Supergirl, Arrow, Riverdale, Gotham, Supernatural, Big Bang Theory, Flash, American Horror Story, etc.) ...and lots of $4-6 DVDs. Batman Vs. Superman: Ultimate Edition Blu Ray (only) is $6 there for those who want that version.
  16. Speaking of... I did watch Chris Evan's "Gifted" movie this afternoon (early cheap Black Friday buy.) It was terrific! Old NewEnglandGothic's eyes teared up more than once in it.
  17. Loved the first two volumes of this comic. Can't wait to check the show out.
  18. Currently $5 for the Blu Ray/DVD combo pack at Best Buy. I bought a few for stocking stuffers.
  19. That's why I'm slightly optimistic about JL too. Not enough for opening weekend though. I'm sure this movie do fine in the long run though.
