  1. Just finished the commentary to "Image of the Fendahl."

It was a hoot!  A lot of it was probably pretend, but everybody in it was way too horny and Tom Baker was in full Austin Power-mode.

A nice counterpoint to what you saw as a kid.

Besides obvious technological advances, it holds up quite nicely.

But, I don't know what's scarier, the Fedahleen in a dark corner or Tom Baker, alone, in the same corner. lol

Pretty cool, to see Benedict Cumberbunch's real-life mother in her prime, playing Thea.

Finally saw "Split" last night.  Wow, Anya Taylor-Joy is stunning.  :luhv:  Those eyes look like they're right out of Japanese anime.

How exactly did she get those scratches on her stomach?  Are we to assume her uncle did that?

Watch her in "The Witch" (my opinion, the best movie of 2015,) "Morgan" (a kind of Blade Runner-lite,) and "The Miniaturist."

At one point, before all the X-Men stuff, I had her pegged as the next J-Law.

As far as being scary, if you listen to the audio commentary you can hear the actors all sniggering about how the Fendahl look like male members. Pretty much kills the “fear factor”.

They had the same problem with "The Creature from the Pit" from what I heard. lol

  4. Won "Image of the Fendhal" this morning.  Can't wait to get it.

I remember that Tom Baker one scaring me.

Watched a little "Talons of Weng-Chiang" again last night.  Still a masterpiece, even if the giant rat looked too cuddly.(:

A great final Phillip Hinchcliffe production.(worship)

The "special edition" is full of stuff!

I would agree with you except that was Ecclestone. I thought Colin Baker was better than McCoy, although there wasn't much in it.

    Whoa, whoa, whooooaaa.

Nobody can possibly be a worse Doctor than McCoy.

If he was a good Doctor, we would have never noticed how bad the set pieces/production, directing, writing and companions were.

I held out during the C. Baker era, occasionally getting a "Trial of a Time Lord" or "Mark of the Rani" episode, but tuned out with McCoy right off.:sorry:

I can't imagine anyone throwing out expensive cut footage these days. The studio should spring for a little extra to have Snyder clean it up and splice it all in. I'd pay to see it.

It'll probably wind up being uneven, like the Superman II: Donner Cut, because stuff he couldn't reshoot and had to use Whedon's stuff.

I preferred the Theatrical Cut to Superman II than that one. My 2c

Eventually I'm sure WB will put together an extended cut of the movie on Blu-ray, they won't let that footage go to waste. Although who knows, SUPERMAN IV: THE QUEST FOR PEACE has existed only in a butchered version since 1987...:insane:

    Truth.

But, if Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers can get a director's cut, anything is possible. lol

    Someone actually liked venom?

    'Tit was me. :(

I had a few drinks.  It wasn't a very demanding nite on the telly.

I liked The Predator too. (somewhat though :gossip: )

I actually had zero expectations for both.

Frankly, I blame not liking some of the middling movies on here because of the hype they get in threads.

  9. Just finished it.

I liked Rogue Nation and Ghost Protocol better.

Granted, I enjoyed this one as a solid action movie, but the current filmmaker's formula has become overly familiar now, no matter how far they push the 2nd unit stunts.

...and I'm not saying kill the team and have Hunt assemble a new one and start fresh, but possibly bring in new filmmakers in to shake things up a bit.

That was the original intention for the first two.

To me this felt like "Thunderball" to Rogue Nation's "Goldfinger."  I just don't want to see a "You Only Live Twice" next. lol

    Three out of Four Stars.

    That is strange :insane:

Good old Terrance Dicks - the same description of Tom Baker in every book. The 'shock of curly hair'.....etc. I wonder how they would read now, to an adult. A bit basic probably - much like some of the episodes they were based on!

That said, I wish I was back in the 80's...

Oddly, I got a Doctor Who book in a bunch of folklore books, I just bought.

    Day of the Daleks.

But, it smelled like poop, so I threw it away. lol

What is particularly compelling, though, is seeing Crysta Bell again. She's a local, and used to be in this fantastic band called 8 1/2 Souvenirs. She seems a little stiff on the show, but she had fantastic stage presence as a singer. I was hoping she'd be singing in the show. Maybe the agents will all go out for karaoke and Ed Sheeran will show up.

She was perfect in this.  I'm sure Lynch was "directing" her to be rather subdued and not as crazy as some of the actors were in the 2nd part of Season 2.  I could see her becoming like "Coop" in eccentricity down the road, especially with no "Albert" to ground her. :(

My favorite new character, would be Candie, the actress's name escapes me, but I felt everyone of her scenes fit the Lynch universe of quirkiness.  I hope she can return in some capacity down the road.

fire walk with me criterion edition comes out in October. I'll be picking that up

I've had that one for a while now, might take that out of the shrinkwrap tomorrow.

I've only opened the Mulholland Drive Criterion to watch (very disappointed with the extras,) but a great movie.

  14. Definitely, not wanting to pile on Mr. Jaydog, and I sincerely mean it, but yeah there should be future revenues added to the equation as theatrical box-office really doesn't cut it anymore.

This thing should be adjusted for streaming, 4K, Blu Ray & DVD (I know... lol ) sales, cable airings, not too mention it will always be part of the DC shared universe of movies (free advertising as it will automatically appear on endcaps) for whatever viewing means as it's a licensed property of WB.

Morbid curiosity, has anyone ever tried to figure that stuff out on a movie?  That stuff actually sounds just as fascinating.

  15. I know I’m late for the party, but I finally caught up with the 2017 season.

    Wow, just wow.

I was a huge Twin Peaks fan in high school, so this was like a welcome return to form for the series that lost its way through the mid-2nd season.

The visuals and narrative of the original series pretty much invented Modern day television.  After The Killing came out, I always hoped for this, but realistically never thought it would ever happen.  Which would have been fine, I guess, as part of the OS's legacy and charm was that it didn't conform to TV.

Personally, I never thought I would watch something with James Belushi in it and like it. lol

The thing I did notice was it lacked the female sex-appeal of the OS.  It seemed like Sherllynn Fenn, Madchen Amick, Sheryl Lee, Laura Flynn Boyle and so many others gave reason for so much of the insanity in the first place.  Granted, its great to Madchen again, but that was also an aspect that we all talked about the next day, like when Fenn tied the cherry stem in a knot with her tongue, something probably considered tame by today's standards, but just as shocking as seeing "girl next door" Laura Palmer wrapped up in plastic.

The only other flaw I saw was the casting of Michael Cera.  His scene really went way too long.

But that ending.  I'm dying to see Carrie Page's story now.  I guess, I'm glad don't have to wait as long as you guys have since it came out.  Hopefully they'll be some production movement in a couple years.

  16. This is just a list of ones of Tom Baker ones that I have seen recently.

By no means is this a complete list, as I haven't seen Hand of Fear, Planet of Fear, something of the Fendahl, Revenge of the Cybermen, etc, yet.

After watching The Power of Kroll and The Pirate Planet (which I thought were awesome as a kid,) I am being more selective with episodes now (meaning no Robot, etc. first.)  I'm more out to see ones like Terror of the Zygons.

...and I'm going to be sporadically doing these viewings, as long as they stay fun to do. :)
