  1. Hey John! Hey Alex, what have you been up to PM sent.
  2. Here is my Tec 31 CGC 2.5 - The "Grail" of my collection (Already posted in the previous page during Showcase's Action 13 and my Tec 31 "mind explosion")
  3. Already posted this, but felt the thread needed a bump. Picked up off Metro. (Creasing and lines are from poly sleeve not the case) Tec 30
  4. Holy "I didn't exist yet" Bat-Man! I thought it was awesome getting to see the pics you shared with me the other day but they really didn't do this treasure justice! This book is phenomenal Alex. Welcome to the club. Maybe, just maybe we'll welcome you back if you can manage to find another. Of course I only have one myself but...who's counting? Thanks! Still having trouble finding good lighting to take pics. And I need to fix the poly sleeve crease over the "3.5" Well maybe I can find at least 1 more (or 7) No worries, I knew the crease was in the sleeve and it can't detract from such an AMAZING book. It would be hard to top this one. I'm really pleased with it. Displays really well, higher than grade. (Wish I could see the splash) Well you know I have two others that may have a shot at topping this one.

  6. I have this one. Can I join the club? Tec 30 CGC 3.5 - Bought off Metro nearly 2 weeks ago, paid top dollar but it was worth every penny.
  7. One of the very best Cap covers of the run. Colors look really good on it, agreed. And that's a pretty nice looking 3.5, the top right corner looks darn sharp! Great pick up,
  8. Good question. I'm not sure what is the current FMV for a 31...nor do I follow trends. I guess I'm what you call a value investor, looking to profit from a long term hold. For the entire run (including Bat 1), my upfront costs didn't go above 15K...and most of the books were bought in 2007-2008. Terry O'Neil offered me a CGC .5 o/w Tec 31 last year before I bought my copy...it was sold to someone in NY and Yannis finally got it...not sure if this is the same copy Rockman, but Terry had offered it to me for $5500... Was it missing a back-cover as well? yep. might be the same copy as rockman's but I think it is a different one if he has had his copy since 07-08...I think the .5 copy Terry obtained last year was from a local collector (SoCal), so probably a different copy.. There are two .5's on the census so it's a very likely possibility; the fact that both have the back-cover missing is an interesting coincidence as I doubt it was a re-sub. $5,500 seems like a strong price but certainly not out of line for a book of Tec #31's magnitude; especially when there are only 27 graded unrestored copies to-date. I can confirm that there are indeed 2 CGC .5 Tec 31 Blue's both missing the Back Cover. But it is important to note the one Rockman has is far superior to the "other" copy out there. (thumbs u 4 out of 5 rodents recommend my copy.

  10. If the grades and asking prices were equal, I'd go with Tec #29 for sure; I'd even take a lower-graded 29 over a higher-graded 35 depending on the degree of disparity of course. Can't go wrong either way though. (thumbs u Lots of decision to make, but I will add a least one of the above in the future.
  11. Never gets old seeing them together. "Mind Exploded"
  12. Great name and congrats! Now, I just need a pre-robin Tec to join this club. You need a Tec 31 for the club and for "mind explosion" Definitely like Tec 31 and for "mind explosion" as you mention. Also, thinking 29 or 35. I think with how difficult finding an Action 13 is proving to be, your gonna beat me to "mind explosion" first. 29,31,35 - can't go wrong with any. Mega Grails one and all.

  14. Andre...... You leave me speechless!!! You've done quite an impressive job
  15. Well, if you insist... Detective 31 - picked up this copy within the past few years in a trade with a good friend (local collector). It has slight professional restoration, but near white pages and presents very well in my humble opinion. Detective 35 - obtained this nearly three decades ago out of an ad from The Comics Buyers Guide. Wonderful colors and great pages, but the top staple was popped so I had it re-attached. So again, slight professional restoration but another copy that I think presents very well. Love 'em both! Thanks for sharing. This is one of the reasons I have a feeling that I'm going to love this thread. People often talk about these books but I'm just as interested in learning about the history behind both the issues themselves and the specific copies collectors have managed to acquire. There are often stories to be told; we're already beginning to read some of them and I find people's enthusiasm to be contagious. Both of your copies are beautiful and present VERY well. I especially love your #31. Great to hear that you've managed to hold onto your #35 for so long as well. We often see the same copies circulate between auction houses and eBay so it's nice to see an owner hold onto a treasure like that for so many years. (thumbs u +1

  17. The last CGC 2.5 sold for $14,000 earlier this year. Well, that book won't be in my collection (Can't save that much cash ) It is pricey. But they all are. That is, until you meet someone named Helen on eBay. Sorry, buddy. I just can't help it. Clink beating me for the Tec 35 ---> What's the story on this one? There was an old woman selling her father's original owner comics on eBay. Most were "junk." But one was a very nice Tec 35. It was not graded and the pics were lacking but it was still worth the gamble. It had 3-4 days to go on bidding and it was only up to $2,500 or so. I was planning on making a very serious play for it. Then *poof* it's been removed. I messaged her and she said she was overwhelmed with questions about the book. And decided to take it off after "a nice man" said she could get more for it once its been "graded and inspected" (CGC I assumed). I asked if she was still selling as I was greatly interested. She gave me her e-mail, we exchanged a few. She said she would keep me posted as to what happened with the book. She did not, and I saw it had popped up on Clink as a CGC 3.0 Blue. Sold for about $11,800 initially. A few K more than I had at the time, so I lost the sucker. Very happy the woman and her father got top dollar for the book. (thumbs u Sad I lost it (however I did end up finding another Tec 35 so its all good ) That's an interesting story. And I know what you mean; good that the owner was able to receive top-dollar but it's always going to be disappointing when you miss out on what could have been a golden-opportunity. And since you were able to later pick up a Tec #35; sometimes things can still work out for the best. (thumbs u Yep! It did all work out in the end. Picked up this little beauty after.

  19. Avon in general is fairly tough in high grade. Just got this back from CGC... I can only hope that when I'm dying, a big-breasted woman will shove her boobies in my face. If we could all be so lucky. That is a heavily endowed lady.
