  1. Holy . I priced this thing so high thinking no one would even sniff it...

    Spawn 9 newsstand

In fairness, they haven't paid yet. And if the last month is any indication, most folks don't like to pay for stuff they agree to buy on ebay anymore.

    +1 on no1 pays anymore

I thought I read somewhere that Ebay is in the process of changing that. In essence the auction isn't complete until payment is issued. I don't remember WHERE I read that, but it may be here in another thread or on Ebay itself. Regardless, I took that as a good sign of great things to come simply because it would give people incentive to pay fast....if they don't....someone else may scoop it up. How that's going to logistically work I'm unsure. Did anyone else read something like that or am I having an acid flashback?

There was a recent email regarding seller's protection or something like that.

    :hi: buddy...

That's a crazy number on a "newstand copy"

I prefer to not have the UPC on the front cover myself.

    Hey Ryan!

Yeah. My plan is to buy a nice raw direct copy. If the buyer ever pays...

  3. I heard the barcode version is the tougher one to find in a 9.8 (shrug) I should have taken better care of my copy lolhm maybe this copy is around 9.4-9.6 :P

I have a copy I've had up on ebay for several weeks now. I priced it pretty aggressive and it was getting pretty good views and watches for the first two weeks. Even had some questions about it. Since then its dropped off. I dropped the price slightly, and its still only getting 1/3 of the views it was three weeks ago.

  4. Whetton does eBay provide any information that states whether or not the winning bidders on some of these comics actually paid for them? I've been dealing with a number of non paying bidders on ebay lately that seem to get into a bidding war and then never pay.

Nothing that I'm aware of. eBay's api assumes that everyone who bids will automatically pay. :(

That's what bothers me about ebay sales. It seems easier to find a shill than to find a non paying bidder these days. At least IMO.

  5. I think if you're in a suit you're not getting a bump. Now if Coulson were to become the Vision like it was hinted at last year....

    ???????The WHAT???

Did I miss something??? Or just forget something???

I swear I read it in the Avengers movie discussion last year. Made sense considering you never saw his body and he had been such an integral part of the saga leading up to the Avengers movie.

  6. Marvel changing the name of S.H.I.E.L.D. to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. should help Agent Couslon's true first appearance down the road!

    images_zpsedf8d3cc.jpg

    No. It wont.

    Well it should.

it wont. people who read comics dont give a mess about agent coulson

I didn't give a mess about Agent Coulson when he died in the film. lol

He is going to be a character in the TV series...

You'd think Lucius Fox being played by Morgan Freeman and appearing in all 3 Batman movies would've caused his first appearance in comics to get a bump, but looking at ebay I'd say it didn't.

  7. Not that this is new but the prices seem pretty crazy.

    Spawn #9 NM @ $50 & 8 bids.

I think all the spawn 9 prices are crazy, but that one being the UPC variant, is much, much more rare than a regular # 9.

If regulars are selling for $10-20. Upc version hitting $50-75 seems logical to me.. ( based on the crazy market for the book atm )

So last night I went through my boxes and discovered by Spawn 9 is actually the UPC variant. I'm assuming this means its a newsstand variant, correct?

  8. Red Hood and the Outlaws #1 @ $15+ & 5 bids.

I put one up last week.. 19.99 +shipping BIN and it sold a day later

Crazy. Might have to hit the LCS a little sooner than Wednesday this week. When did this book come out? hm

It was part of the New 52 launch I do believe.

:censored: I'm kicking myself for some of the books I passed on.

Yep.. came out October 2011 I believe.

Funny thing is.. I walked in to a shop that had a bin filled with New 52 books. As soon as I walked over to the box, the owner said: "Anything in the box is a dollar. The New 52 was the worst thing DC has ever done. I just want to get rid of them."

Ended up grabbing Nightwing, Red Hood and Suicide Squad #1s. I even got one of them free because he hated the New 52 so much that he said they were 'buy two get one free"

This was less than a year ago, when Nightwing was already going for $20 on eBay.

Nightwing 4 has cooled hasn't it? I remember selling my copy for $20+ last year.

  9. There just doesn't seem to be any constructive criticism of his business model on here - at least publicly anyway.

Maybe because Joey does good work? (shrug)

Sometimes actions speak louder than words. Provide a service at a reasonable price that nets a greater profit in your pocket, I doubt many people will complain.

  10. Here's a question for you. What is "sniping" software??? ??? I usually just watch an auction and then bid in the last 5-6 seconds with the maximum that I would be willing to pay. If I win with that amount or less I'm happy. If somebody is bidding more than me God bless them! I won't butt heads no matter how much I want an item. It's just throwig money away and overpaying.

    - Mike

Sniping software is basically a mechanism to avoid bidding up an item. You put your max bid into the software/website, and during the last seconds of the auction your max bid is placed.

  11. I think I've been bit by the magazine bug...

I never read FM as a kid, but last week I found a reader copy on ebay of issue 52 - Johnathan Frid as Barnabas Collins cover - and picked it up on a whim. Loved the stories and articles. Even though I didn't read it, it takes me back to being 12 and watching classic era monster movies.

Just bought another Barnabas cover mag - Monsters of the Movies 3 - and now I'm eyeing copies of FM 59 and 82. Affordable books that fit my collecting interest. Can't beat that.

  12. Those are great.Didn't last long though.8 issues and 1 annual only.

Number 4 cover with the Wolfman is really spectacular.

There's a nice looking 9.4 on ebay that I almost bit on but I'm working on a deal for another book here on the boards atm.

Wow, so issue 8 with Jonathan Frid and Peter Cushing on the cover is the last issue? That's the next one on the list for me to pick up. Trying to collect Barnabas Collins magazine covers now that I'm taking a break on the Gold Key Dark Shadows books.
