Anyone got any books FT from Philly in the system that weren't on site graded? Curious how far along those books are.

I don't know why Microsoft even bothers. X-Box is a pet project for them and is peanuts in their world.

Given the headache involved with everything, I'm shocked they haven't already pulled the plug and left everyone hanging.

 

Pet project? The Xbox is putting Microsoft right where it wants to be - in the living room.

I'd say the Windows phone is more of a pet project than the Xbox.

I've been critical of the direction of the Xbox one, but its doing exactly what microsoft wants. Its more of an entertainment machine rather than a gaming machine. Its taking multiple devices - gaming system, blu ray player, roku/streaming media player, cable box - and combining them all.

Where is Doug's list? His web site is....uh....a rambling mess.

The books usually begin to show up in the system Tuesday or Wednesday the week after a show.

Knowing that, I don't feel so bad knowing that CGC will more than likely not be at Heroes next year.

I'm surprised Apple hasn't made a play for the home console market...

 

If anything the industry needs one machine less, not one machine more. I would say its not a market they need to go into.

Apple is hedging the casual gamers market. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading a story that said that more games are played on Apple devices than consoles and other smartphones/tablets.

 

Those are just casual games that dont compare to the console pc games.

Apple isn't trying to compare or compete with console or pc games. My point is that the casual game market is a big revenue maker for apple. No telling how much my family has spent on little 99 cent games across 3 or 4 different smart phones over the past few years.

Truth be told though smartphones and tablets are getting more powerful. Its already been proven that WoW can be played on an IPad. Steam is available for macs now. No reason for apple to get into making hardware - consoles - that are going to be largely replaced by HTPC's in the next decade. They already have Apple TV for that.

Is it at verified when your credit card is charged? My FT invoices from Heroescon showed up on my CC yesterday.

Who are they really kidding way to many go Fast Track which slows down economy.

Waiting for CGC to announce "super duper fast track" that will cut fast track times in half for $10 more.

Don't lie - most of you know you'd pay a little more to get these books out of perceived purgatory.

I have a feeling CGC has more books on hand in fast track status right now than they do slow track.

I e-mailed about the Modern submission I put in at C2E2, and they said it'll be a "few weeks" before they start grading those.

I'm assuming you didn't submit fast track?

Revival has been on my pull list since issue 1 but I've never read a single issue. Just been keeping them as a run just in case a TV show were to come along.

Decided to read the last issue. . Can't believe I've not been reading this as its been going along.

I just wish it was in black and white like TWD.

 

I'm still not understanding the X-Force #4 phenomenon.

 

Here's the rounded print runs. Only issue that has more than a 1st printing, or crazy multiple covers is #1. Does the 5,000 issue jump make a difference? The month or two for orders/readership to catch up? It stabilizes around 50,000, so why not the heat on #5, 6, 7, etc?

Don't think print run has much to do with the popularity of UXF 4. For awhile I think it was hot simply because there wasn't a reprint of it. Issues 1-3 were reprinted in a "must-have" format and there wasn't a trade. Now there's a trade and the prices have cooled. $20 is still a good price for a raw, but its not where it once was. I think two years ago they were in the 30-40 range raw.

And hey - look at the sales numbers for New 52 Batman 1. That book does crazy money now and had a 188k print run, plus several extra printings.

So at Heroes I asked for an approximate number of moderns that get graded everyday and I was told 'around 600.'

Discuss.

I thought you were submitting most of the key books to CGC? If not, sell them here and let collectors decide whether they submit these or not. Then that is less of an investment on your part.

 

That is correct, some of the keys are going to be subbed to CGC. But still, I am talking about maximizing my profit. I don't want to be seen as a money-grubber, but if I can sell these Copper books there for more $, then why shouldn't I?

 

And yes, I know the upside to selling here v/s eBay - hence my question. Like, if I sell a $50 book (per OSPG) and discount it 10% for you guys, but since (as the title of this thread hints) that "Copper is really heating up on eBay," then maybe I can get more than OSPG price for it there, which can (key word, "can" but not "will") make up for the 20% loss that eBay & PayPal combined will take.

 

I am only looking for opinions folks, not an argument.

Amazing Spider Man 361 has a second print..

 

This books been kind of hot lately for a 2nd print.

This might be interesting - newsstand copies are legitimately tough to find. Pulled out of a box of back stock that had been sitting in my basement since I moved into this house in 1999.

I sold one for $69 last month.

Batman Vol. 2 #4 1st print sold today for 18$

That's been a hot book for awhile. Most of the vol. 2 Batman stuff (1-11) usually sells for more than cover. Issue 1 is especially hot. Saw a raw copy go for $50 at Heroes last weekend.

Arrested Development, Sunny in Philly, and Curb Your Enthusiasm don't and those are some of the funniest shows around.

 

Those aren't what I'd call traditional sitcoms either. They may be funny to you, but to middle America, they're not. Arrested Development couldn't even make it on a major network and is now relegated to Netflix.

True, but I really only watch comedies that are funny to me. They are shows that are generally recognized as quality comedies, this doesn’t always equally mass appeal. McDonalds sells a lot of burgers but I’ve never heard an argument that they are the best. I feel the same way about network television.

Very valid point. I love Community and think its pretty funny, but according to nielson it isn't a popular show at all.

Conduit content providers like Netflix may put a couple of the "major networks" out of business in the next ten years if they don't start doing better.

Are you guys using USPS or FedEx? I ask because I appreciate the care that CGC has in getting books shipped back safely, but the cost of insured/registered mail is pretty steep for just a couple of books IMO.
