Can someone clear up the reprint #1 for me. What came first : the 30 cent REPRINT cover or the blank UPC box reprints?
-
Is no one going to mention all of the Modern reprints that are going for dumb money, whether it be from uninformed sellers/buyers or a known misrepresentation of the product?
-
So what about something like Deadworld 10 with the full-page pinup of The Crow on the back cover? How do you guys weigh-in on that as the first appearance?
PS - I picked two out of a 50 cent box yesterday at Heroes MiniCon!
-
Amazing Spidey #80 in NM @ $39 & 30 watchers. Looks like the market has accepted it as a Black Widow key issue.

Before I even read the 155 new posts since my last visit, I'm going out on a limb and say that no more than 1 new book will be discussed as heating up. Prove me wrong!
Update : I didn't know about Swamp Thing 53 so that's one. I'm not counting Doctor Strange with Sha-Na-Na because A) It's a graphic novel and 2) it would make me wrong.
-
If someone has already mentioned this, I apologize. If not......you're welcome!!
Weird War Tales 93

Whats a "normal" price range this book?
I think the last time a 9.8 CGC sold for around $350 and that was last year.
I know the Huntress first appearance came out in All-Star Comics #69, but DC-Super Stars #18 is her origin story that supposely came out on the same day with ASC #69. It will be nice know if someone can confirm this with real data.
It's been confirmed numerous times on here with rock solid evidence. It's absolutely true. Obviously that cover is much more appealing than the one page, floating head appearance in All-Star, but still.......................WOW!

Thanks guys. I was able to pick up a Tooth & Claw B&W for $12.50 ($25 then half off for subscribers) today. Headed to ebay!
-
Is Y the last man #1 for $20 a good deal? Don't keep up with moderns.
Oddly enough, I just picked up 1-13 in a lot for $35 from my LCS today. I have never seen a copy offered at a local store.

Gary Reed (Caliber Comics or Caliber Press), Wendy & Richard Pini (Elfquest), Bill Black (AC Comics) & Kristoffer Silver (Silverwolf Comics) are the few independent publishers from the 1980's that have complete history of their company.
Back on topic. Here is the brief history of Caliber Comics/Caliber Press. Caliber Comics/Caliber Press Read Summer 1988 to Spring 1989.
Look up James O'Barr to find his complete publication history and his alias name for the Deadworld title.
So he did. Very nice.
-
I actually spoke to O'Barr this weekend about this exact issue. He seemed to have no clue what I was talking about and when I tried to explain and ask him if it was the first time an image of The Crow was ever published, his reply was, "I don't know. Maybe. I probably did the front cover of that book, too." (He didn't).

Next big DC Character ala (Harley Quinn & Livewire) - Justice League Adventures #13 first "All Star - AKA Olivia Dawson" - yep you heard it here first. Will be making her way to DC52 soon.
Fairly certain it's her only appearance EVER.
-
So some other books that either are seeing movement or might see some movement soon. Thoughts on them. A few jump past copper, but need some new blood in here.
Just tired of same book discussions. I am still picking a couple of these up for $1 lately still.
X-factor 15
Teen Titans 21
ASM 361 2nd Print - Book is smoking lately
ASM 365
Longshot 1
ASM V2 30
Saga of Swamp Thing 21
Hulk 228 & 134
Cry for Dawn 1
Can we go more in depth on some of these?
X-Factor 15 - First Horsemen of Apocalypse
Teen Titans 21 - Brother Blood?!?
ASM V2 30 - First Ezekiel or Morlun (I must have missed the news on this)
Hulk 134 - First Golem? 228 - No clue at all
-
You would think "THE WORLD'S MIGHTIEST VILLAIN RETURNS" on the cover would be enough..............
-
I do shows all the time from attendance of 200 to 25K and have never EVER had anyone ask for a Livewire appearance. Ever. Not six months ago and not this weekend, where there were 5k people through the door.
-
I had a VF Swamp Thing 37 priced at $65 and a NM- Hellblazer 1 for $20 on my wall at a con this weekend and no one asked about either. Time to reprice and hope they sell at Heroes!

I sold a nice one signed by Bagley for $25 at the Charlotte show a few weeks ago. Most others in the room were $30-45. I paid $5 for it so I didn't mind, but the other 3 copies I have won't be sold so cheap!
-
I'm totally holding my 2 copies till after this show starts. I see only upswing happening if this show is as good as the first novel was. Wish I had picked up more seeing as the cover price for #1 was only $1.
I'm sitting on mine as well. Unfortunately my LCS had bagged and boarded his #1's so I had to pay $1.29 for my two. Of course, that was a few months ago so...........
-
What's the deal with the DC Presents 51? Why are there two Direct Sales versions, one with no month under the number and the "ANOTHER DYNAMIC CLASSIC FROM THE NEW DC" tag vs the other "EXTRA! FREE 16-PAGE COMIC PREVIEW MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE"?
-
I know we discussed the Supergirl (1996) 1 3rd printing some time ago, but what about the 2nd print? I didnt see any on ebay or CCL and MCS only has a CGC 9.0 for $90. I puled one out of my misc box today.
EDIT : NOT A CGC. Raw 9.0 for $90. Surely not?!?

Had no clue about that Elephantmen. Thanks.
Moderns that are heating up on ebay!

A) What would you do with a Preacher Preview 9.8 Blue? GPA is sketchy as none have sold since March (last time I checked) and the cheapest on ebay is $1400 OBO (mine). What do you think is a fair price for this? Is the GPA info thin because they don't come to the market often or because all that are available have stupid high BIN prices (mine again)? Census shows only THIRTY blue label 9.8 slabs.
B) Is all of this irrelevant because it's a preview and no one really cares except the hardcoriest of the hardcore Preacher/Ennis fans?
