  1. First sales thread...have bought from Drbanner, Vintage Comics, GAcollectibles etc... no returns on CGC graded...shipping to US included in price...PayPal, check or money order fine...learned a lot about packing and shipping from my transactions with these guys... Last two blue label EBay sales in 8.5...$975 and $901.... i cant tell where the color touch is but it’s a gorgeous copy other than that...it was part of a big OO collection I bought in 1995...it was sent in with 20 others from the collection in which no other comic came back restored...It was the only DC I had graded... shipped to your door for the low price of $475...if you want a back cover pic let me know and I’ll get it when I get home...
  2. I am of the opinion that there are some 9.8s that look superior to 9.9s and any grader would be hard pressed to pick out the 9.9 if it was sitting in a pile of 19 other 9.8s ungraded...i would say a better question would be the difference in a 9.9 and a 10?...
  3. Optical illusion or a dinged bottom right corner on that 60k book?
  4. I hope the 9.8 is correct...is it possible that the complete label is wrong and the right label was misapplied to another comic and is actually a 9.6?...just wondering...
  5. I echo the comment about the era I grew up in...born in '68 it was all bronze and early copper...those are the only eras I buy now and only keys...I try to keep it 9.0 and above but have lesser copies of ASM 129 and HOS 92...I just remember reading and buying these comics between '75 and '85... nostalgia...
  6. Not a popular opinion, and I love Stan...but he and his customers have ruined millions of dollars worth of books with his sloppy autograph and it's placement on said books...I know his signature got worse as he aged and I'm not a yellow label guy, but I cringe at some of these keys he has defaced...to each his own of course...I will admit I occasionally like some yellows with nice penmanship and placement...Frazetta, Kirby, Adams etc...these guys seem to treat the comics with more respect...again this is all my opinion...
  7. Personally I'm try to get down to 2 CGC boxes of keys...one box full, one to go...I just need to get rid of the 7 long boxes now...
  8. That’s it...thanks!...asked here years ago and never got a response...going to look for a copy now...
  9. Good topic...I remember a 70s horror comic about a guy that kills a gypsy and at the end his body starts to unravel like a ball of yarn because of a curse...still sticks with me...any help finding what comic this is would be appreciated...
  10. Haven’t read this whole thread but I will give a shout out to Titan Comics in Dallas...went there for the first time in 10 years a week ago and I must say Jeremy has it going on...nice selection of reasonably priced slabs and the biggest supply of statues and back issues I’ve personally ever seen at a LCS...I bought two CGC boxes and a X-Men TPB essential X-Men 2 at 70% off...the staff and Jeremy are first rate...he has been a constant as others have come and gone...FYI, I live in Keller which is north Ft Worth so I don’t get to his area often but now I will make more of an effort...he also sent in my first CGC sub some 10 years ago...
  11. Both great first appearance covers with HOS slightly ahead...but I’m a Marvel guy so that evens it up...I have a HOS, also a 6.5 and the nicest ASM 129 7.0 you will ever see...1/4 in tear in the front cover that I didn’t even know was there...I would literally have to show you where it was through the slab...CGC hammered it...anyway, all things being equal I think I would rather have a higher grade HOS...love that Wrightson cover...
  12. I would trade it all for the right high grade Bronze key/keys...9.2 to 9.4...I’m not to picky...doesn’t have to be cash...
  13. My lull is with common comics...only buy keys that are slabbed now...I would love to get it down to a couple of short boxes of slabs and be done with it...anyone in DFW want to buy a collection of around 7 longboxes?...1/3 of which are bronze and copper UXM, ASM, keys included, and assorted silver...I’m not going to ship them...have thought about MCS, as it is local, seems like a hassle with this many...
  14. I have a 9.2 W...but I think I would trade it for a 9.2 OW/W with a better wrap...you can see 1/16” of white on the top couple of inches...anybody agree/disagree?...is there a higher premium on PQ or front cover appearance?
  15. I’ve used Joey in the past...great customer service and he didn’t press the books he didn’t think it would help...I wouldn’t hesitate at all to recommend him...full disclosure, I haven’t used CCS...
  16. Just glancing over it I would say Hulk 180 would be above a few of those...if we are talking value...also a few of the Claremont/Byrne X-Men would be sprinkled in...
  17. In 1989 or so I ordered 150 random back issues of UXM for $200 from a Dogloff add in Overstreet...on the phone they said they would throw in some extras...I received random issues from 95 to 200...10 copies of 96 and at least 5 copies each of 129-143...probably 200 comics total...these were unread copies that must have come from these unopened cases you mention...months later did the same deal with ASM...
  18. Yep...if I could sell mine for $6k, I would still have to come up with $4k more...5x more than my biggest single comic purchase, which was the 180...maybe someday...
  19. I have a 9.2 181white pager that I bought from Lone Star Comics in 1984...it was marked as VF+...I always wanted a nice 180...2 years ago I bought a 9.4 white pager off these boards for $800 and thought it was a little high...looking back, glad I did...just checked eBay and the top 4 or 5 listings have BIN over $2000 for a 9.4...the high sale recently being $1795...
  20. If you plan on keeping them in your collection throw them in a Mylar and a halfback and be done with it...if you plan to sell, get the 181, GSX1 and the 94s graded...
