  1. Got my secret santa gift from the post office yesterday from @Mac Man These were absolutely perfect! I absolutely love the statue, reminds me of "Peanuts" (Snoopy) for some reason. The wife and I grew up on Buffy the Vampire slayer and when I showed her the book she was like "that's crazy! somebody actually kept up with all that?"
  2. I picked my top 25 and almost accidentally picked my own.
  3. You are right, I totally failed to look it over. There's just nothing about it that screams McFarlane because he hadn't developed his style that we are all so used to. Just because it's his first doesn't mean it's worth anything. Same thing with Dave Stevens on Ebay....somebody has a couple of pieces he did from when he was young up for auction and has for a long time, just nobody buying them.
  4. Nevermind, too many people distracting me. Still not worth the asking price in my opinion, but somebody's got the money for it.
  5. Looks like you guys woke them up! Good to see more people participating! I'll most likely regret saying that when the drawing occurs. Calling that now
  6. Sort of surprised there isn't more interest this year than there appears to be....this is usually a lot of fun
  7. Oooh I need this book. It goes in my birth month collection! Yes, I am just now catching up on 20 pages of this thread from where I didn't log in all weekend because of work.
  8. My spidey sense apparently was dulled. Took too long to log on...
  9. I've got a value from 11/20/18 sitting at verified still. Something tells me my timing might cause mine to go significantly longer due to the holiday next week. Boo.
  10. Well technically it was a repost instead of a post, but worth a shot
  11. Well, here it is the end of the year and I'm exactly where I was in the debt column, I have even more CGC books, but I did manage to set up at a show and did pretty well! What tripped me up this year was purchasing original art. I bought a Campbell page and a couple of other nice pieces. Next year's goals are real simple. I'm going after one key book, I'll continue to look for original art, and there will be somewhere near 160 less CGC slabs in my collection by this time next year.
  12. This sounds a lot like me. ZERO idea about the things my guy likes. Just not in my collecting wheelhouse. It's both stressful and a brain workout. Hope I did ok too! Shipped out today!
  13. I would slab the FF 50 for resale value and use those funds to buy something else that goes in the permanent collection. It might take three or four of these sales to come up with the one keeper's price tag. It's pretty much how I keep my collection going.
  14. Mine got a haircut compared to this one, lol!
  15. Kids are out of school today so I had to stay home with them, which gave me time to throw this together! 10 first appearances including a CGC 9.8 first Gwenpool! 1st Colsen, 1st Amethyst, 1st Darkhawk, 1st Gen13, 1st Tara, 1st Witchblade, 1st Omega Red, 1st Superboy Prime, and 1st Warpath. Hope this fits in somebody's wish list!
  16. I've got the main course, but need to do a little digging and the wife has had all the Christmas gifts piled up in my space so I couldn't get to anything!
  17. I don't think they are doing it right. Maybe someone should turn the graph over.
  18. I like the sound of that term, "universe builders" and I agree that he was one. I was lucky enough to photograph one of his last panels at Dragon Con two years ago and stood in line with what seemed like a thousand people to have my picture made with him. Godspeed Stan.
  19. Just wanted to mention this again. First year show here in Chattanooga. Shaping up to be a great show with some big names, convention exclusives, and there will be someone available to witness for CGC SS!
  20. It's all subjective, but personally mine falls more like this: Low grade - anything 4.5 and below Mid grade - 5.0 - 8.5 High grade - 9.0 up
  21. Congrats! I know you've been working on that one for a while!
  22. lots of people keep excel spreadsheets detailing status updates. Sometimes helps in projecting when to expect books back based on historical data.
