Just a quick sales thread to see if anyone might be interested in several of the Zenescope books that I have amassed over the last couple of years. Most of these will be dirt cheap in comparison to what you find on Ebay, just because I'm looking to move them. If you want to buy them all or a bundle, let me know and I'll work something out. Shipping and handling is based on weight and location and I ship in enough bubble wrap to keep you entertained for hours popping the little bubbles. Any other questions, let me know! I can see what you are going for there, but there's an age gap those pesky 40-60 year old's that it really might be just "cashing out" Think of it like this, they recaptured their youth, and now just as before, they no longer need it, and want to turn it into something else. That something else could be anything from a nicer home or nicer car, to a boost to the kid's college fund sure. Maybe you just want to do some traveling before your knees give out on you. Sell a few books. Who knows. There's too many people in this world and we are trying to shove them into nice neat little boxes that we can differentiate them all

Not suggesting this for individuals, but a lot of companies self insure up to a certain amount and then get coverage for incidents over that. So if you have an extra million laying around you can set that aside and then get a policy at a reduced rate for anything above that.

Yep, I've got one of those around here somewhere too. Seems like there was another option similar to it as well. If you think there is a need for something new, go out and make a template and make it. My local comic shop just made a new CGC measurement box that is stronger than the ones I've seen. He saw a need and filled it.

No, I totally agree with that line of thinking. I wasn't saying that you should run out and buy the Zenescopes because they were already "scarce" because of their limited print runs. I was actually, kind of poking fun at them a little, and will admit to having a VIP membership and about 20 of them slabbed. I was simply using them as an example that probably would have been better served using an Ambush Bug #1 or something else completely random that no one really is looking for, probably had a small print run to begin with, shop owners didn't stock much of and what they did have went in the dollar bin and somebody's toddler ripped it apart (I can attest to that last part, having helped taught both my children to read using comic books....). If you are looking simply for scarcity, that book is now it! Tons of books like that were printed, forgotten, never taken to conventions because they weren't worth loading up, and simply lost to the world. That make more sense? As for the Beckett article, I would love to read that. I think that drives my point home, and would say Wizard magazine was the driving force behind a lot of HOT books back then as @Aweandlorder mentioned, before the real internet craze we are in today.

Lots of things I take away from this thread already.... One of these days that "modern" comic book, printed back in the 80's is going to be well over a 50, 60, 70 years old. Yes, true atomic, golden, silver and copper will be even older, but still time marches on and things happen. Drinks are spilled, fires burn, buildings collapse, things are lost. Things become rarer across the board. Not necessarily more valuable, just rarer. Those modern Zenescope covers limited to 250 copies or less? Probably not worth much, but will be pretty darn scarce in less than 50 years! So realize what it is you are collecting for....is it scarcity, your enjoyment, or something like popularity? Speaking of popularity, with the way technology works "today" it is very easy to influence people as to what should be popular. How? Well, let's start a forum on a board where we conserve books and tell people what we think is hot for instance. Let's start groups on social sites and share stories about the next big movie coming out and all the books it was based off of. Stuff like this didn't exist less than 20 years ago and will continue to change as the generations do. Word of mouth, zines, newspapers, and magazines were the way of getting word out then. Now it is word of mouth, text, email, blogging, the internet, podcasts, and thankfully a few of the prior generation's mediums made it as well. Each generation will have different influences that set what is popular for them. I enjoy reading these discussions, especially on how everyone feels the market is performing. I've seen prices increase in GA for sure and in some niche areas of what I would consider the modern market, i.e. the "movie" and "celebrity" markets for sure. That last one hasn't been discussed much, but with the online market of Celebrity Authentics and SS Facilitators I think its an interesting market that wasn't even feasible 20 years ago. I feel like a lot of people around my age (46) are thinking the way I am from the comments, that I want to focus my collection. I went to a small show in Atlanta yesterday and spent two hours surrounded by a LOT of people diving in boxes. Some incredible books on the wall and I was either just not feeling it or, what I'm afraid of, I'm just not interested in buying them anymore. I'm happy to see them, but I don't feel they need to be mine. I bought one book to complete a set that I will be listing on Ebay. Lastly, these are all just my opinions. These and $5 might still get you a happy meal at McDonald's so take them for what they are worth.

My cousin gave me a bunch of his books to try and sell for him this weekend and there's a full run of Iron Fist in there. It's all somewhere in the VG to Fine range, but I'm still thinking I've got a better shot at listing just the #1 and #14 by themselves than the entire run for the price of just those two books, and that the rest of them will probably just not sell. It's all about whether the collector is out there to read these or invest it seems.

Hey guys, I've got a Catwoman 51 CGC 9.4 up for sale in the modern section. Cheaper than anything on Ebay graded. Thought if anyone might be interested it would be in here!

Just one book for now, looks like there are quite a few of these in 9.8 in high grade and everyone wants high grade money out of them. Fair enough. This one is only a 9.4 so the price tag might be a little more bearable, and who knows, maybe with a press you will get a nice little bump towards that high grade money yourself. Asking $99 + shipping which is considerably less than the 8.5 currently listed on Ebay.

Hey gang! I picked @wombat's Frazetta offering and it has been coming about a box a month for the last three months! I can't even begin to tell you how cool he has been and how much I have enjoyed days where I get a notification at the post office. Just look at all this swag!! Yes that's Death Dealer 1-4 comic format and the books, all 5 Frazetta collection books from the 70's, Epic #1, Vampirella 7, Creepy #1, a limited edition of holograms, playing cards, a set of Frazetta trading cards, unopened packs, a miniature figurine, just a crazy amount of stuff!! Thank you so much! It has been a real thrill to look through all of these books! Can't wait to get a little time to do a LOT more reading!

This is pretty much what I was hoping to find out. If all of these that exist came out of the same location, it makes sense that it was either somebody in Southern California with too much free time or possibly a very small test run that came out of the studio. I'm still leaning to the too much free time myself. Why doesn't someone post it to Lee's or Campbell's facebook and see if we can get any information about it? They might have slept since then, but sometimes people remember some of the strangest things.

Totally agree, no business being in a blue label. It is a green because of the addition of the foil. Curious @Mike's Rack where did you pick this up?
