Thanks. At least one of the illustrations is signed with his name so the identification should not be an issue. Since this was the only issue graded thus far the graders probably thought the author notations meant more on the label. Just frustrating to do the back and forth since I included the reference in a note to them
-
I mentioned it on the online form...but didn't pursue it further. I'm not sure if it is a separate group of graders for the magazines and maybe Baker is not on their radar
-
Thanks Tony...Yes I was very lucky on that one

Thank you DL. I specifically mentioned the Baker illustrations for the label but they disregarded it

Going to a huge show this week in New England. At last year's show a comic dealer was there early enough to find about 16 or so comics from another dealer buried under some magazines in a box on the ground. All pre-hero DCs. The price he paid? $200 for all. I snapped a couple of pics of some of them. The lesson to be learned is - never give up. There are still treasures out there.

RARE 1939 Bob Montana HS Yearbook. RIVERDALE inspired Ho HOS or Probies. First in the thread gets the book. Shipping is included within the US or to Canada. Overseas add $20 This is a RARE 1939 Haverhill High School (Massachusetts) yearbook. Archie creator Bob Montana attended here from 1936 to 1939 until moving away in what would be his senior year. This yearbook (he was a junior) represents the last year associated with Bob Montana and Haverhill. Montana based much of Riverdale and the Archie characters on his friends and teachers at Haverhill and he recalled those years fondly. Shown in pictures of clubs/groups are Principal Earl McLeod (Mr Weatherbee), librarian Elizabeth Tuck (Miss Grundy), Arnold Daggett (Moose), Mary Elizabeth Walker (Montana's next door neighbor and possible inspiration for Betty). Others may be shown as well - I am not sure. Montana is pictured in 2 club photos (one for the Brown and Gold Staff and one where he was a cast member in the Operetta). The school's mascot "The Thinker" was often shown in the comics as well. This may have been Montana's only pictures in any Haverhill yearbook. Condition is excellent overall - a few signatures here and there from random classmates. A wonderful association between the creator of Archie and the place and people that inspired him. $600
