  1. First Batman, first Spectre, etc. etc. are shown as house ads. That's exactly my point.. surely you're not suggesting those are actual appearances, so why would you suggest that this archie house ad is one (unless you're joking).
  2. - house ad? You'd have to rewrite half of the first appearances in the guide.
  3. Probably another couple of weeks yet. hang in there...
  4. Speaking of greedy... we're greedily awaiting pics of your new bundle of joy... when does it arrive, pray tell?
  5. Beautiful timelys! Have to say the USA 14 is a little too "batman and robin" for me though
  6. I'll let AS speak for himself, but I think he was just saying that some people with the money to buy big books make some strange decisions - see that copper age x-men thread (#79(?) in 9.6 for $2600 )
  7. I don't think that was a shot at you at all..
  8. And yet they sold for approx the same price proving that the people with the money to spend made a different decision than most of us would. Takes all kinds... I think this is a bit of a label chaser scenario. The 9.2 superboy is, I would think, a very high grade for that book. I haven't checked the census, but that would be my guess. So there's a bit of the super high grade mentality at work, I suspect, that isn't really in play on the 8.0 MF, or at least not to the same extent. I think most of us on this thread (and most collectors in general really) would go for the bigger book in the lower grade over the opposite (ie smaller book in higher grade)... so the clean sweep isn't that surprising...
  9. Stop building the suspense! We all want to know what book it is!! Knowing your tendencies my money's on a restored copy of one of two major books
  10. But none were high grade unrestored... It was still 20k worth of books any way you slice it!
  11. says the guy who sold $20k in tecs in 24 hours on the boards
  12. tough call.. but I think I'd take the JIM. I don't really agree with the market's assessment of MF54 as an uber-classic classic cover.
  13. that's a really amazing price for a spoonkicked copy of a filler issue of Millie.
  14. And what were your wholesale prices if we might ask?
  15. MM and All American but very tough choices!
  16. pretty much a pick em between mile high action and allentown bats. Nice cover on the bats but I would prefer the action.
  17. I agree! 3412 for me, like everyone else! There are just too many big keys on row 3 to not pick it....
  18. My sentiments exactly... first time i have seen PGX restored slabs.. are you thinking of cracking them, or maybe get them CGC'ed instead? (excuse my brainwashed question ) I had not considered regrading them, I really only had them entombed for protection. I consider myself to be a very strict grader, so on a few issues, I would say a little tight but overall I think they have been real accurate. The Young A. book with M P does have a little red felt pen action(def amt.) but also some professional work. I hope you still enjoy them even though they are not CGC, Comics are still comics. Of course. I could care less about the grading, I can grade for myself.. keep posting these great books
  19. They look more or less just right to me as opposed to undergraded. A lot of cgc 4.0s, certainly SA books, are very nice books too . Maybe pgx is just grading them with less of a "GA bump." Actually the one thing I am curious about is the young allies above being noted as professional resto. Unless my eyes deceive me there is clown-college type color touch on the spine. Unless that's the back cover wrapping to the front (?) although either way it looks like there is some color bleeding? All in all though the grading looks pretty good. I do wonder about the resto check though, it would be interesting to send in some very slightly restored books and see if they catch it.
