  1. pretty much a pick em between mile high action and allentown bats. Nice cover on the bats but I would prefer the action.
  2. I agree! 3412 for me, like everyone else! There are just too many big keys on row 3 to not pick it....
  3. My sentiments exactly... first time i have seen PGX restored slabs.. are you thinking of cracking them, or maybe get them CGC'ed instead? (excuse my brainwashed question ) I had not considered regrading them, I really only had them entombed for protection. I consider myself to be a very strict grader, so on a few issues, I would say a little tight but overall I think they have been real accurate. The Young A. book with M P does have a little red felt pen action(def amt.) but also some professional work. I hope you still enjoy them even though they are not CGC, Comics are still comics. Of course. I could care less about the grading, I can grade for myself.. keep posting these great books
  4. They look more or less just right to me as opposed to undergraded. A lot of cgc 4.0s, certainly SA books, are very nice books too . Maybe pgx is just grading them with less of a "GA bump." Actually the one thing I am curious about is the young allies above being noted as professional resto. Unless my eyes deceive me there is clown-college type color touch on the spine. Unless that's the back cover wrapping to the front (?) although either way it looks like there is some color bleeding? All in all though the grading looks pretty good. I do wonder about the resto check though, it would be interesting to send in some very slightly restored books and see if they catch it.
  5. they do look reasonably well graded... but what's with the "arthur schomburg cover" notation That looks pretty Mickey Mouse
  6. I would have taken the submariner... but the fact that it used to be a 9.0 (?) makes me a little sour on it at that price range Tec for me. Assuming that the tec wasn't a 7.0 or something at one point
  7. I'd take the batman over the x-men but would succumb to the charms of ff1..
  8. Somewhat of a tough call as I don't like either torch 1 in general or coupon cuts in particular at that kind of money, but I would take the supes overall. It's the cooler book to me and while I don't have a sense of which would sell for more at auction today, I think the supes would be easier to sell in general even if you got less for it (i.e. I'm not sure about the prices at which you might find buyers, but to me the supes is the more liquid book). And supes 1 is absolutely one of my favorite GA superhero covers so hard to turn down.
  9. word for word exactly as I saw it on this one.....Bronty is quickly becoming a candidate for the Gold Boards Awards thread for the "really knows his *spoon*" award as far as I'm concerned. Aw shucks Same for you, bro. Never thought I'd be saying that during the obadiah thread You're a great contributor to the discussion and this is my favorite thread of the year.
  10. Bill, with all due respect the trend line graphs from GPA are useless on huge books like that. That trend line is probably (I'm guessing) drawn from two or three data points. One really big (or really small) sale will skew that graph like no tomorrow. Besides... what's the tag line you see on mutual fund reports? "Past performance is not a predictor of future earnings?" Something like that. Applies equally here. Biggest risk IMO on 9.4 AF15s is that a bunch of 9.0s and 9.2s will get pressed or resubbed up to 9.4. But whatever. It's still a NM copy of the first appearance of the #1 (hate to say it) superhero today.
  11. wow. Jawdropping MM2 and comics mag 1 in any grade is impressive
  12. Unfortunately I think I would still take AF15 over MF52. I just hate that the MF52 is slightly restored. Assuming nothing's been done to the spidey (big assumption) I'd rather have the untouched book. Damn tough choice though... that's a pretty MF52.
  13. AF15. 1st robin vs. 1st spidey? No contest if I'm spending real money. $100k+ seems like way too much for the first app of Batman's homoerotic chum. I realize that rarity is on the Tecs side, but come on...
  14. Cap 1 - very tough choice though, kudos S4 MM1-10 or Action 2-10... you just can't go wrong either way. I think it would boil down to grades.
  15. Thanks theagenes. RE: the Marvel 1's, I'll get one of each, Oct and Nov That is one hell of a mail day!! Congrats
  16. Holy spoon!!! Nice book!! Congrats Bill
  17. well sure.. I won't fight you on that one.. I'd take the cash any day.
  18. I'll take the GA bats on blind faith that they've graded the inner cover correctly... a high grade double cover GA bats is pretty darn cool.
