  1. Good story. Sweet set. I had your experience happen to me when I met someone to buy their Strange Tales 110. She was not a comic person, and I asked if I could remove it from the mylar. She opened it herself started to pull it out, the tape stuck, she pulled harder. and she put a small 1/8" round tape pull right in the middle of the front cover (that's a dark cover so it really showed). I was going to pay her $750 originally. I told her I couldn't give her any more than $500 for it now. She was embarrassed and took it.
  2. Cool find. 5.0 for me. It's got the "Miller & Co" Indicia but no pence price or pence stamp. You might want to show it to "Get Marwood & I". He'll tell you way more about it than you ever wanted to know. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/profile/34042-get-marwood-i/
  3. Original DC Comics 1942 Junior Justice Society of America - Decoder - It's in great shape. If I were to grade it like a comic I'll be conservative and say 7.0 . The only real flaw is that it has the original owners name written on it. $199
  4. Congrats on the 5.0. And congrats on the Insert. That's like the Mark Jeweler insert. I think there are collectors who pay a small premium for those.
  5. I did not say CCS would tape it. It was my "assumption" that to marry a single page you had to attach it to the other half of the wrap. However, if everything you say in your post is true, then yes..... Send it in to CCS have them lay the page into the comic (hopefully it doesn't slip), keep the SS status, and have your comic in one slab. I love it. Hopefully it won't cost too much for such a simple service. If they want to charge you too much, then just keep the two slabs the way they are.
  6. Were the clothes pins a way many comics were displayed in the 40s? I'll have to check my old comics to see if they have a "dent" in one of the upper corners.
  7. Wow, that's 6 different locations you were scoping out! That's very interesting. So did you figure out a weekly/monthly schedule of when to go to which store for when the new comics would arrive? When the you did notice there were new comics how many of each comic would there normally be? 5? 10? Do you suppose they left some in the back room to restock?
  8. When comics were shipped to Newsstands, Drugstores and where ever else they were sent in the 40s & 50s did the newsstand actually order the title and amount of each comic they wanted from (DC, Timely, Dell, ect...) or were there default titles and amounts that were shipped. For instance if a Newsstand ordered from DC, did DC send them a box of 100 comics split between all the titles? Maybe 15 Superman, 15 Action, 10 Batman, 10 Detective, 10 Wonder Woman, 10 Sensation, 10 Adventure, 5 All-American, 5 Green Lantern, 5 All Star, & 5 Mutt & Jeff... something like this, or would the Newsstand actually pick the titles & amounts they wanted for each comic? Maybe it was a combination of both?
  9. I don't like the idea of "marrying" single pages because there's not a great way to do it. Why not wait to get the full wrap so a true "marrying" can take place. There are many individual wraps out there for sale for AF15..... just wait for the full wrap you need instead of a using a single page. In this case of the OPs comic.... either leave the two slabs alone, or IMO have CCS marry a full wrap to it so you can get the SS designation and also keep the Green label.
  10. Well.... I guess if you add a cover without attaching they consider it married.
  11. I suppose if you have CCS deslab it then it will keep the SS designation. But it's one thing to marry a wrap.... marry a wrap and you get a Green label. To marry a page involves tape which might equal PLOD.
  12. Keep the 2 slabs together. It's ok. In this instance I think it's better to just leave em alone.
  13. Back issues suck (unless they're key Marvel issues). Get well soon Joey
  14. I think the most it can get with the detached staple is 6.0. It presents very well so I will give it the full 6.0. I believe when you sell it it will get a price that will be closer to 6.5 or 7.0 because of how nice it presents.
  15. The ironic opposite of this is many times when I list slabbed comics here on the boards, I try to list my comics under the GPA averages. And I get skunked in my sales a lot.
  16. ANY Marvel movie character rights coming back to Marvel & the MCU is GOOD NEWS!!! Would love to see Namor in the MCU. Now..... they gotta spend the bucks to bring Spidey back into the fold. They NEED him.
