  1. This restored Voldemort claims to have "pieces added" "color touch" but I can't for the life of me detect anything original on the front cover. Does it look way off to you guys? It looks like a weird color copy with color touch on it. Pretty deceptive if that's what it is. Maybe labels should say what the percentage of original cover is. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-CBCS-9-0-HIGH-GRADE-SS-STAN-LEE-SIGNED-AF15-COMIC-BOOK/323635929813?hash=item4b5a3462d5:g:8yYAAOSwMHtbjTTj
  2. I shipped it back today insured with sig conf. He/she said they'd reimburse my shipping too so we'll see what happens.
  3. Yeah, I know it doesn't seem to make sense, but after lots of back and forth communication I think he (possibly she) is telling the truth.
  4. This seller is selling another slabbed 9.8 ASM 700. If any of you buy it MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR SECURE SHIPPING!
  5. I agree with you 100%. I can only think they thought the slab was indestructible so it was safe to send it that way. But seriously.... no padding or cardboard? The saddest part is..... you would think no one could be that dumb, but I've had at least 2 other slabs sent to me in an envelope in the last 10 years. The lesson here is.... NEVER assume good packing. ALWAYS ask for secure shipping.
  6. Thanks everyone for your input. I was actually contemplating sending it in for the reholder myself, but..... I now think I'm just going to send it back to the seller for the refund. The seller was super apologetic and answered my emails lightning quick which is a good sign. The seller said even though he is selling some comics right now, he's not a comic person and he had never mailed a CGC slab before and simply didn't think much about it. Whatever..... I'm going to send it back and be done with it.
  7. You already know how this ends..... This package came in the mail today. When I felt the package I knew it was a CGC slab because THERE WAS NO CARDBOARD and I could simply feel the plastic thru the envelope. SO I paid over $1000 for this and the seller couldn't take the time to use cardboard, padding, or a box. The slab is opening about half way down one side. The comic appears to be ok. The seller said he would try to get some insurance for me, but when the PO insurance sees these pics won't they just say "Um... where's the packing protection?" So..... should I have the seller pay for a reholder plus shipping? Just send it back and get my money back? See if he's able to get some insurance out of it?
  8. Page 12 removal was basically the "marvel value stamp" of the early Marvel era. I went to buy a collection of early Marvels in Augusta GA many years ago (2 1/2 hour drive for me). We settled on a basic price over back & forth emails. When I got there and looked at the collection SO MANY of the early Marvels were missing page 12. I had to explain to the guy that we could no longer be thinking about the price I quoted him. I still ended up buying the collection (for much less) but I was very disappointed about the missing pages. I'm going to say at least 15 of the early marvels were missing page 12.
  9. Wait... what???? When you complete an incomplete book by marrying a page in, it's no longer incomplete. You've completed it. It has a married page, but it's complete.
  10. I agree with the responses in the thread so far. With the pics posted I see it in the 3.0 to 3.5 range. I don't mind buying comics in that grade range but I don't like heavy marker on my comics, so personally, unless it is a REALLY good deal I would pass on this one. It's hard for me to imagine that back in the day someone had trouble selling this (what would become a key issue) for $.25c and had to lower the price to $.15c.
  11. I don't think I've ever seen wraps for sale from an ASM14. Usually wrap or page sales are for the super mega keys like Action 1, BM 1, AF15, but....... if someone needs a wrap, they need a wrap so go for it.....but it may be easier (for this comic) to just sell what you have remaining all together.
  12. I bought a coverless really horrible Captain America 1 a few years ago for $8000 just to get the CF (which was the best wrap in the comic). And ended up selling off the extra pages (which were all split at the spine) for $9000.... so I made $1000 AND got my CF for free.
  13. I forgot to disclose that it's missing it's staples so please keep that in mind when grading this. Also, if you think a press will help let me know.
  14. A Qualified complete 5.0 sold a year ago for $1000. You've got a little wiggle room value wise.
  15. That's a sweet copy! Yeah, if that was mine, my OCDs would be forcing me to complete it. Good Luck
  16. Do you mean "page 68", "leaf 68", or "wrap 68" and are you including the cover in your counting? If my memory serves me that page has a "Sea Monkeys" coupon.
  17. Before I looked at anyone else's grades I thought 7.5-8.0, and behold.... that's what everyone else thought. A press will solidify the grade but not take it higher. Good luck on the DD1
  18. I'm going a little higher than everyone else and saying 4.0
  19. It might be a wash (or a loss) once you pay the $500. However, I'm hoping to find a cheap copy myself, so to me personally... it's worth it. If your copy is super low grade, then probably just leave it.
