  1. The collection is about 300 comics in which a third of them are super high grade. The two copies that are graded (pictured above in the thread) were 2 that he sent in to CGC to test the waters on where the grading stands for the rest. Some of the graded comics go all the way back to CGC's 1999 "Red Labels". He told me he didn't press anything. He said he got into collecting in the early 90's (for his kids) and would only pick up stuff he saw that was super high grade. The weird thing is, about 100 of the comics are absolute drek from the 90's (foil covers, gimmick covers, etc...). There are some nice high grade Marvel Silver & Bronze too. He said the collection was always for his kids, but they grew up and had no interest in them whatsoever, so he decided to sell them. Lucky me. There were a number of high grade Four Color comics. Check out this Four Color 1348 "Yak Yak". Like I say.... this collection has some strange stuff in it.
  2. Just got these and felt the need to show them off. All are very high grade.
  3. I lucked into a collection of high grade GA & SA. They all look like high 9s and apparently none of them have ever been pressed. I'm astounded at the quality of these. Not much mainstream stuff, but for what it is I'm super happy. Here's a small sample:
  4. Valiant comics question I just bought a collection with a bunch of Valiants. I don't know anything about Valiant comics (I'm mostly a GA SA BR guy). Could one of you modern comics guys give me a basic idea of what I should keep my eye out for. Thanks.
  5. With the worldwide popularity of Marvel Movies, have foreign collectors/investors been tapping into rare high end comics like AF15? If so, how much? Are we competing with them in a lot of these auctions? Are a lot of AF15s leaving the country. Just curious.
  6. Jpepx78, I misunderstood your initial post. That was very helpful. Now I will focus n finding out what the other one is. I think it's from Jan or feb 1941. It matches Fawcett comics from that era the most, but not quite.
  7. Are these the two to get in late 50s early 60s or are there a couple others I should keep my eye out for?
  8. How do you know for sure it's a DC comic?
  9. Sleuth help for back covers Have any of you OCD GA collectors ever catalogued the tiny differences in GA back covers? I've had these 2 for a while but I can't identify what they are. The one on the left came out the either Jan or Feb of 1949 and has the same back cover as many DC titles of those months (like Flash Comics 103), but the address number on this is 1529 which doesn't match. Anyone know what this is? The cover on the right is early 40s I think, but again I just can't pin it down.
  10. Even though I'm a secret Archie fan, I was avoiding this show.... until last night. I saw that it was up on Netflix, so in my moment of boredom I decided to give it a chance. I actually really liked it. I can't wait to punch in episode 2 tonight. Maybe I'll even binge a couple episodes. For those who have watched the entire season, is it going to keep getting better or does it plateau and go into the toilet?
  11. Just got these in a small stack of Archie comics that I just bought. 40 is a solid 4.0-4.5 and 41 is probably 3.0-3.5. I'm very happy. I love these covers.
  12. Please post a photo when you get it yourself. I personally would do the trade if the AF15 checks out ok.
  13. I especially liked Steve Rogers and his Howling Commandos
  14. I was struck by how poor the quality was on these Canadian DC comics. Cover paper is inferior & the color registration for the books are way off. Look at how bad the color registration is on this one.
