  1. To me it's pretty obvious they're real. If you're an avid collector with experience and have been around a lot of GA books..... you can just tell.
  2. Yeah, that was the one I got. I know nothing about Canadian comics but it seemed like a great deal that I shouldn't pass up. I was surprised no one else bid on it.
  3. CGC got back to me. This is what they said: "It would get a “CVR” authentication instead of a grade, and it would get a “Laminated” notation on the label."
  4. I know they don't get "grades" but I think it might sell better if it's in the slab. I won 7 of the laminated covers and they are in really great shape. The colors are amazing.
  5. That AA 16 was sweet. I think I was the underbidder on it.
  6. I bought a bunch of gorgeous covers a couple years ago from a collector who would remove the covers of his comics and laminate them (ugh!). I sent a query into CGC, but I figured you guys might know too. Can I get the cover slabbed if it's been laminated (and no, the laminate won't come off). I'm thinking of selling them and I think they'll sell better if they're slabbed. Here's one of them, the quality and color is amazing. If it didn't have the bindery holes in the cover, I'd say it presents like a 9.0.
  7. How rare are the canadian DC? Were they printed in large quantities?
  8. How do you guys value your DC Canadians? Are they like "Pence" comics where they are about 65%-70% of what the US version is? I just bought a bunch of DC Canadians and am trying to figure out how to value them.
  9. How long does a person have to open a case on Ebay? Is it 30 days? I just bought a comic collection on ebay with a "local pick up only". Trouble is I won't be able to pick it up until June 18. The seller is fine with that, but I am a little worried that my right to file a claim might have expired if something doesn't work out. I seem to remember 30 days is the rule but thought I'd ask here (I did a quick search on ebay abd didn't find the answer there)
  10. In the last calendar year 17 Xmen 1 3.0s have sold according to GPA 4 out of 17 sold for less than yours with two selling for right around $1800 Yours looks structurally solid, which is a plus, but the fading will keep some collectors away. I think you did well, but I wouldn't call it a "deal".
  11. I used to have that book. The color plates inside are amazing. I've always loved Denslow's "seahorse" signature. I wonder if that's what inspired Walt Simonson to do his Dinosaur sig
  12. Looks skinny. Looks like someone recently took a lighter to the corner. Pages don't look aged at all. That can't be real
  13. Looks better than 7.0 to me. I wonder what the flaws are.
  14. Went to it last night. This movie is really good. When they announced the Gal Gadot casting years ago I was one of the nay sayers. Man, I was WRONG. Gadot OWNS this roll. She IS Wonder Woman. She is 100% authentic and believable in this roll. I was actually really moved by her performance. Chris Pine is perfect too. The chemistry between them is palpable. If I were to nit pick anything, I would say they could have trimmed 5-10 minutes from the middle. It's a REALLY good movie, I can't imagine any one not liking it.
  15. While I wish she was there, it doesn't bother me. I actually love that cover. The colors and the mood are great. AS8 beats ST110 by a mile in a battle of 1st appearances that don't feature the new hero on the cover.
  16. Yes there is a crimp/crease going thru the "RE" that is literally what you see there (about 1" long). Yes, the colors really pop. Top edge is clean.
  17. PGM Amazing Adventures 1 (Dr Droom) I'm pretty excited about finding a pretty nice copy of AA1. Tell me what you think. There is a tiny 1" "crimp/crease" in the letters "RE" of ADVENTURES. Sun Shadow at bottom of back cover. Spine is nice. Interior might be White. It has the feel of a really nice book in hand. It hasn't been pressed but has many pressable defects.
  18. I went to the Roadshow a few years ago right when Captain America First Avenger came out. I figured since the movie was coming out, and with all the hype, that there would be some interest in a nice Captain America 1 comic for the show. So I brought my raw Cap 1 in. The appraiser looked at it with virtually no interest whatsoever. He said he didn't know what it was worth off the top of his head and that I should just look in an Overstreet price guide. I went in with such energy and excitement, and he seemed to have NO passion at all. It wasn't the best experience (with him). They have a lot of appraisers so if you get matched up with a bad one, you're out of luck. They allow you to bring 2 items. My other item (Indian Clubs) garnered a huge reaction by the other appraiser, and they ended up taking me to the GreenRoom to put makeup on me to do an interview. It was really cool. That appraiser showed huge passion and loved talking to me about the clubs. They started to set us up for the interview, but a producer came by and decided to nix my segment. Bummer.
  19. Trivia Question: 1st Super Powered Comic Character? I recently bought a scrapbook with some old Sunday comics from 1902. While researching the comics on Wiki one of them was listed as possibly having the 1st example of a "Super Power" in a comic character. Can you guess it? Does anyone know of an older comic where the character exhibits a "superpower".
