  1. I think this is quite rare. (I've sure never seen one before). Is this what's known as a Canadian White? This is Canadian so the inside covers are blank white and the back cover is blank white. Cover & CF are snug at the staples. A tiny bit of rust/discoloration on the staples, but there is no staining/transfer onto the paper. Back cover shows dirt (I haven't tried to clean it at all). Final interior page and back cover shows tanning in the lower left corner. Light stain upper right corner of back cover
  2. Classic Illustrated Comics Kidnapped is 1949 Australian Deerslayer & Hunchback are 1947 Canadians with Blank Backs & Blank inside covers Iliad & Time Machine are UK Thorpe & Porter 1950s Barnaby Rudge is a UK 1949 Published by Amex
  3. Kidnapped (1949) Published by Ayers & James in Australia Horizontal format
  4. Hunchback (1947) & Deerslayer (1947) These are both Gilberton Canadians (inside front & back covers are white, and the back covers are white) The Deerslayer is not shown in the GCD so it may be pretty rare.
  5. Barnaby Rudge? UK comic Produced by Amex in 1949 Is there a US version of this?
  6. Some cool foreign Classics I picked up recently. These first 2 are Thorpe & Porter UK editions (1950s)
  7. How cool would it be if the 9d slugs were the same size & font as the US font.
  8. I bought this 10 years ago for only $130 and tucked it away in one of my boxes until I found it again today. You can basically see the defects from my 2 photos.... except there's a piece of archival tape under each staple on the front cover (why didn't they put the tape on the inside spine?). So I believe the cover may have been detached at one time. I don't see any other shenanigans on the comic. I believe CGC will give this a "conserved label" but otherwise, what grade do you think it might get?
  9. It's always shocking/jarring to open a comic and see nothing but white on the inside covers. I knew about the Canadian comics with blank inside covers but I didn't know the Brits did that too.
  10. This makes me think of Anton Yelchin's accident & tragic death when he got out of his car and ended up being crushed by it. I wonder if it is a similar circumstance or if someone else was driving the snowplow?
  11. That seems like a really good guess. The one advertisement on the inside is a US ad. Anyone have any knowledge of this type of thing happening (insides being shipped over)? The cover's size is a little wonky too in relation to the insides, so I don't think they were trimmed at the same time.
  12. Picked up this UK Cow Puncher 4 with some nice GGA on the cover. I noticed that the innards have 2 staples and then the cover was added with 1 staple later (so 3 staples total). Was that common for some UK titles in the 40's? Or is this just a freak manufacturing defect. I don't see this comic in the GCD..... is this super rare?
  13. WWII "hanging cover" Cover is detatched. Small piece out where the staple connected on the back cover. Sun Shadows on both front & back covers. 3/4" spine split at top. Some interior pages have a stain in the lower corner
  14. I know this is low grade, but I want to see how low grade you guys think it should be. Piece missing upper left. Cover is still attached at both staples, but at the lower staple it's only holding by a whisker. Staples have some rust which has stained the area around them on the cover (inner pages haven't been stained by the staples). CF is snug at the staples. There is a puncture on the cover at the guys neck. The puncture goes thru half the comic. With the puncture is a 1" tear. The tear goes thru half the comic getting smaller with each page. I think the puncture was made by a staple that went thru half the comic, and someone carelessly pulled it out.
  15. Cover & CF are snug at the staples. Light crease upper right. Some wear along the spine. Tiny 1/8" nib out of the bottom left corner.
  16. That is SO awesome! I wonder what that would sell for now? 6 figures?
  17. Cover & CF are snug. Some foxing on back cover. tiny 1/8" staple tear at top staple
  18. Jack Kirby sig? Or "Jade Kirby"? Looks like it was drawn on a paper towel I saw this on HiBid
  19. Cover & CF are snug at the staples. Hasn't been pressed (yet) Thanks, in advance.
  20. Neither of these are tape pulls. Seems to be some sort of printing/ink flaw on both of them. I found another on ebay with the same flaw (see photo)
  21. It's not a tape pull. Physically nothing wrong with the area. Appears to be a printing/ink flaw. So no down grade for that.
  22. I think you can see the flaws in the photos. Cover & CF are snug at the staples. Thanks
