  1. Since this has become a War Fury 1 appreciation thread, here's the one I just got for xmas.
  2. "Murder my Buddies will Ya...!!!" Very stoked about finding this one. I think for the most part you can see the flaws. The cover & CF are both attached at the "one" staple (at bottom). I think this was supposed to be a 2 staple comic, but has the manufacturing defect of only the bottom staple being there (does my grade get dinged for that?). This should improve with a pressing.
  3. This is the one that was sold in the Hake's auction. It says it measures 3" x 3.25" so it's less than half of the size of the one I just got. I'm guessing this is what you have?
  4. Hi, I found a rare Superman Bread Shield sign from 1940. It's exactly 7-3/4" wide x 8-1/2" tall and is printed on thick card stock (1/32"... not as thick as a full comic) I've had a thought about slabbing it. Is that something I could have done? Would it even fit in a Slab with that width? I would prefer to keep it in a normal size slab if I could.
  5. Here is the Giant Superman Shield Thick card stock. It's even a little bigger than I thought it would be. 8" X 8.5" Pretty cool. Unfortunately a tape pull on the backside.
  6. Interesting piece. I'm guessing 1940 I've seen a smaller versions of this in the "Hake's Pop Culture Memorablia" book (only 5 known to exist) , but I've never seen a big one like this. This one is 8" X 8.5" Printed on super thick stiff card stock. The back unfortunately has some tape pulls. Anyone ever seen one of these? I put a Golden Age Action comic in the one photo to show the scale of size.
  7. I was thinking to "validate" that it's the real thing, and associate a date with it.
  8. I wonder if CGC would slab it. I might have to look into that.
  9. I bought all of these in one lot. I'm hoping everything on the right will pay for the Superman Crusader ring on the left. I've got most of them identified.... Tom Mix whistle ring, RoyRogers ring, Captain Midnight decoder, Sky King tele-blinker, Sky King Radar ring. But two I can't identify... any idea what the last two rings pictured are?
  10. There were only 3 of us bidding (because the auction didn't use the words "comic" or "badge". I had it at $40 with 5 minutes left and then a bidding blitzkrieg broke out, LOL. I had seen the Hakes results so I knew it was special. I ended up winning it, paying WAY more than I wanted to spend. I hope it's as rare as they say. I'll show you the back side when I get it.
  11. Robotman, do you have, or are you familiar with this Superman Bread Shield Badge? I read in a Hakes auction that there are only 5 known to exist. The first photo shows the Hakes badge. It's 3" x 3.25" The 2nd photo shows one I saw at auction last night. It is 6" X 6.5". It might be rarer because I can't find any other example of the larger one on the internet. I figured you might have some knowledge.
  12. Suspense Comics 10 - raw & very low grade. Missing the CF Cover is detached. Spine is a bit ragged and there is archival tape on the inside spine & cover sealing some tears. Faded upper left corner. Lower right corner of the interior pages has a bug/rodent chew that gets progressively smaller the further into the book you go. The wrap that's at the center (2nd CF) is present but detached. Grades as a 1.0 "qualified" $175 $165 + $7 shipping
  13. Normal Rules apply No HOF or probies US destinations only Shipped USPS priority. You pay $7 1st in the thread takes it. No returns on this one. It's super low grade & missing the CF. Payment by paypal or check or MO or venmo
  14. The 2 creases in the upper right are extremely light, but against the black they really show up. Cover & CF are snug at the staples. Interior is really nice. Staples have some light rust, but no staining to the paper around the staples. British stamp on front.
  15. I'm not sure if it's a subscription crease. When I use my magnifier I can't find evidence of a crease past the fingers (or even in the letter "N").
  16. Whoa, that's an amazing book. That would probably be in the 9.0s if not for the holes. If I owned this I think I might want the qualified grade. I actually think 5.0 might be ok for this one since the holes are so small and the rest of the book is so high grade.
  17. Yes! And most likely the holes affect/touch art on all the interior pages. Looking at it another way.... that comic has 16 interior leafs plus the covers..... so that means 36 little holes. Put all the 36 "little holes" side by side and you'd have an accumulated missing piece that's approx 1-1/2" by 1-1/2" (That's about the size of a Marvel Value Stamp)
  18. I think this is interesting too. "36 PAGES IN FULL COLOUR" And yet all the interior pages are blue linework with reddish fills.
