  1. I didn't expect that. Anyway, what's in it for the bear?
  2. Did one of the animals take ill and require a vet? They'll often work out payment plans.
  3. Dang. No luck getting in touch with the UK rep from DesertWind? Did you ask around in the Signature Room forum?
  4. So you're really English. Welcome to the fold. Actually everyones from Ireland but my Grandma, who is a Hollander. Xaviera Hollander? Really? That's my Grandma, who left her native land April 15 1945. Seriously, it's pretty cool that you've been able to follow your lineage back like that. Mine starts to get muddled during my great grandparents era, all we know is they apparently came from Germany, but no specifics.

  6. That's pretty cool! Reminds me of just how fun some of the 80's new wave music could be.
  7. I would think an individual issue's "scarcity" is relative to it's print run. I'm not sure if the actual ratio of MJI copies vs. regular copies is known. I've heard 1-2% were MJI's. I'm not sure where that number would come from unless someone knows how many units were distributed through AAFES (or similar retail) compared to a total printrun of an issue. There would be more ASM #299 MJ copies printed than a less popular title from the same publication month is how I understand it.
  8. CFL>NFL Doesn't the preference here really boil down to which set of rules is more to one's liking? I don't necessarily think there's a wide divide in talent, although the NFL has deeper pockets to woo players and staff. Top prospects will generally follow the money, so that seems to place the CFL at a disadvantage, if the paycheck is the primary motivation for the player or coach.
  9. Nice books! I've never seen this particular B&V #2. Did all the Canadian versions have different covers than the US versions? That's the British edition. The cover comes from #18 of the US version of B&V. The only foreign books I've seen with original (or at least redrawn) covers are the Australian versions. Good to know. Didn't see any cover price and assumed incorrectly. Thanks for the info!

  11. Do it. It could work. New Romantic-Goth-Gospel with down tuned banjo & harp sounds good to me. There's a few bands of the crust/sludge/black metal variety that feature violins or other strings. The combination of beauty and brootal is quite striking. I think the kids call it "chamber thrash".
  12. Shouldn't the Batman #4 be removed from the board sales thread if it's also being offered on eBay?
  13. The newer stuff seems somewhat toned down in that regard, both covers and interior stories.
  14. My thinking is they were probably considering working in the "Only 25¢" marketing angle. Weren't there three or four different price points on comics at that time? Some Marvels had prices printed larger than the issue numbers for example, and I thought it was done to avoid confusion as to the price for the customer or cashier.
  15. Unfortunately, I don't own a single copy of Viz. I read copies of Viz several years ago when a local Tower Records carried this in their magazine department. Enjoyable mag, although many of the references and parodies simply flew over my head.
  16. Interesting to hear about the Double Doubles. Curious way of packaging unsold copies. I ran across this link that also has a few photos and a few words regarding DD's http://lewstringer.blogspot.com/2011/03/remember-double-double-comics.html?m=1
  17. Nah, it's British. It should be in this section... It would fit just fine in the magazine area, too. It may even help draw traffic to that area.
  18. Nice granite work surface (thumbs u Oh and the pot of food looks nice. Food porn.
  19. Thanks for that info. I used to come across that term in articles about PWEI, Gaye Bykers On Acid, and a few other bands from England, but never understood what it meant. As I'm aware, the term wasn't used in the States to describe any particular bands or fashion styles.
  20. Start drinking tonights alcohol. Any bother of residual taste from yesterday will pass quickly. I've navigated past that same problem countless times using this method.
  21. What makes you suggest this? That reads rather awkwardly without the original post quoted for the sake of context. Additionally, do his above posts qualify as a true "Triple Tap" due to them being essentially replies? The Triple Taps I've seen previously credited all address a similar theme and don't contain quoted replies. I'm still new at this, but trying to maintain an accurate scorecard.
