  1. Neat bonus! Enjoy it, and I agree, sending him a hand written letter of thanks he would appreciate.
  2. Cool cover, probably the best thing you can get, short of the Parkinson box art. Good luck on your search.
  3. As to reproduction rights, I know 1 rpg publisher to save money just gets the rights to use the art in a specific product it's created for, so if they want to use it again, they need to enter into a new contract. So, they don't give up full reproduction rights.
  4. Agreed, i'm glad this wasn't drawn out over 4 episodes. But they could have been less obvious in this episode than they were in the recap for ep 4. Basically, you could have watched the recap and not the episode and gotten all the major beats they played this week. That said, i'm glad they're doing mid-season reveals that can help propel the story forward. Now, who's the man in white that she was talking to before she met her hookup-boy-toy in episode 3?
  5. So, I think the cool thing they're going to show about Shogun world is that it's Westworld with another setting. Unless I was missing what they were doing with the preview Maive is going to meet her asian doppleganger and they both say the same lines.
  6. Out of curiosity, how would someone who attended / setup compare this to Comic Art Con?
  7. I listened to the same podcast, and I think it's a really good theory. If you see Bernard in the 1st episode, he's not acting like himself. Does he even have his glasses on? I don't remember seeing him ever clean them. That's his "tell", it's one of the core things in his personality. another theory in spoilers, I forget if this one has been brought up here
  8. I think for me, I'd be Ok, but I'd want to have some sort of agreement (in writing) that the original digital file was going to be destroyed after the commission was completed. All 1 artist, I really am not concerned about the process, how many people ask artists if they use strait edges, circle patterns, photo-reference... so many other tools in their arsenal, why take away 1? The only reason I can think of, is the one above. I just want to know that mine is really one of a kind, vs "template x73-batman_on_a_garyole_while_its_raining"
  9. I feel like this page is a great example of what i was talking about above. This is an awesome story moment without dialog and very memorable. Just looking at the page w/o reading i remember this moment of the story.
  10. I'd say 99% of the stuff on ebay was freshly printed in someone's garage the week it went up for auction. it has nothing to do with the production of anything but cash that's making the listing.
  11. I also think that the Perez cover that went at 10k might be a great point to discuss. Because now the auction's over, people have seen it, and more than 1 collector is going "damn I missed that! I want to make sure I get the next good one that pops up" So now, we have a $10k threshold that's been crossed, and the next example doesn't have to be as objectively good to cross that line. Usually, the people that lost the last auction are the ones that are going to push prices in the next one.
  12. I think dialog / FX have always had a huge effect. people want "It's clobbrin' time", "sknit", "with great power comes great responsibility", "Spoon!" and all the other great catch phrases of comics always. But I think dialog also goes hand in hand with saying a key, memorable story moment. So, it's not even just dialog, it's when something cool happens, and the dialog supplements that cool moment.
  13. Of course, if I'm in such dire straits that my choice is food and shelter for my children or art, I'll choose to feed my kids. But I'd also like to think that I'm not living on the precipice of disaster with my life.
  14. I would say this hobby would shrink a lot if people were expecting the value to go down after purchase. I am not a big spender in this hobby, so I've never spent a dollar that would hurt my "real life", so comic art undergoes a 50% correction tomorrow I'll be jumping for joy as i can now afford things that were previously out of reach.
  15. There's a clearer picture of the art in question in this post:
  16. Well, they did say they were collecting people's DNA, so why couldn't they be replacing people? if you can get enough of someone's interactions on tape, I bet you could replace them with a high percent accuracy. There's already an app that needs like 10 hours of your voice and speaking and can re-create you saying just about anything. Hundreds of hours of someone interacting with andriods? it might not be that hard to replicate their personality.
  17. I wonder if it's too late to ask for another edit: Colin MacNeil Conan the Barbarian #275 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1993). The cover for the very last issue of Conan's long-running series was titled "The End!" The usually fierce barbarian-turned-King looks rather sad about this. A wonderful piece of art created in ink over blue pencil on bright white Marvel Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Signed by MacNeil in the lower right of the image area. The final cover was actually painted from this piece. This is the black and white line art. After the fact, someone (who may be named Steve) has added low-res printed paste-ups of the corner box, logo, and title, affixed directly to the art page. In Very Good condition.
  18. I have been checking out pictures from this on Instagram as well, they have some amazing stuff there. beyond comic art.
  19. Yup, I agree with you Bronty, there is a lot of stuff out there.
  20. As far as I know, it's eBay sales only. here's a summary of the program from their site: http://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/shipping/global-shipping-program.html
  21. As much as it pains me to say it. But if you want to really absolve yourself of any risk, you can use ebay's Global Shipping program. You ship it to them, they ship it international, the buyer gets gouged for shipping. But you can basically sit back and relax once the art gets to their warehouse.
  22. Point taken. I went a little overboard. I forgot exactly how bad SM3 was.
  23. holy cow! this should always be up on someone's wall! What a classic from my childhood.
  24. This feels like it's going to be a late night B movie on cable within a couple of years. The vibe I get from this movie so far is it's going to make Spider-Man 3 look like Othello.
