  1. Simple $10.95 and a GPA subscription will show you most of the CGC grades especially below CGC 8.0 has absolutely been going up the past 10 years. I am not sure why you don't understand that TMNT #1 is mega book for what ever reason that is. Not many people wouldn't agree that AF 15 is of course the better long-term book to have, but anyone holding onto a TMNT #1 is going to have more money than what they invested into the book years from now. Ten years from now, yes TMNT #1 will be selling at higher levels, especially 9.6 and below. Hulk #181 is a perfect example of what I am referring to which is stable growth in all grades except 9.8. There is a heck of a lot more TMNT fans out there than 3k so unless my math is off then demand out weighs supply I would think. I'm sorry but this is just simply not true. All you have to do is look at the various auction results on heritage. Sure, you will see a lower grade sale at say $600 for example in 2006, maybe another book in the same grade sold for $1200 in 2012. But the sales prices in the 9.0+ grades have absolutely been flat and have even decreased over a 7 year period or so, with only a recent spike in prices that is due to this movie that is coming out. This data only proves the point. Yes there are more than 3000 turtle fans out there, but the vast, vast majority of them will be buying the action figures and lunch boxes, and the newer comic books to read and enjoy, not eight thousand dollar comic books. At those higher grades you are very obviously having speculator activity rolling the dice on the movie. The turtles aren't even as popular or as influential of a character as wolverine, iron man, or any first tier marvel character, none of those comparisons hold up. I would say to anyone buying a TMNT 1 now there is a far greater likelihood that the book will be worth less than it is now, in that 5-10 year window or perhaps the same, in a best case scenario. Meanwhile it would literally take an industry wide slump for me to say the same about an AF 15. In other words, TMNT 1 could decline in value and very few in the hobby would notice or care or even question why. It would simply be chalked up to the little mini speculative bubble it has been in the last several months bursting. TMNT 1 is certainly not the "must have" destination book to many collectors. But an across the board and sudden devaluation in AF 15's would create an industry wide panic and have a massive ripple effect. Macro vs micro. -J. Turtles will be fine. I'm confident in the long run for that book. I don't see it dropping, especially because of the very limited print run. It's safer than any bronze book except the SW 1 and IF 14 35c variants.
  2. Af15 is relatively safe. Tmnt is anything but safe. In fact I would call it risky at near 5 fig levels (but then I would call any post 1975 book "risky" at those levels) it's my opinion of course and I really don't feel like there's much risk in tnmt for the long run. There's such a big following for them and that print run is extremely small. Off the top of my head I wouldn't rather have any book printed after 1968 besides a tnmt 1 or maybe one of the big bronze 35c variants for the long run. Long run as in 10+ years. Otherwise I'd stay with the pre 1965 keys.
  3. They're both 2 of the safest books in this hobby. Both are winners.
  4. I guess still a good drop from the 120K that Schmell supposedly sold it for. why did i think this was a different book? No definitely same one - the other 9.2 on the census was/is the Toth copy. think toth copy made it to 9.4 or I might be mistaken
  5. I don't like TTA 27 in the list. I have never felt it was a true first appearance. I think your addition of ST 110 is justified, especially of late. It has to make it by default in my mind. Scarcity in grade and first app antman. I couldn't bump him out for DD 1 or FF 5. I still feel thats a better option for the top10.
  6. 1. Af15 2. Ff1 3. IH1 4. TOS 39 5. JIM 83 6. TTA 27 7. X 1 8. ASM 1 9. Av 1 10. ST 110
  7. Theres a few showcases that were graded with the thompson books. I didnt understand how other books in the same submission got the label and others didnt. Looks like they were all thompson books.
  8. Nice book - what grade if you do not mind me asking (thumbs u 6.0
  9. Picked up four slabs from Chris and everything arrived safe and sound. Wouldn't hesitate to do business again.
  10. No. An 800R Archive is 8" wide - regular long & shortboxes only have an interior width of 7 1/2". You'll need to put the book in either a magazine box, a CGC box, or use one of the E Gerber acid-free boxes: http://www.egerber.com/category.asp?CategoryID=451&SubcategoryID=557 Appreciated. Thank you
  11. Question, can a comic in a 800R Archive mylar fit into a long box or is it too wide?
  12. The 5.0 looks better than the 6.5!! ha ha very nice pick ups. An ASM 14 is on my radar too. Maybe I'll make it happen around the holidays.
  13. It looks like it has a little "Cole Schave" going too. Care to elaborate on that? I never heard of the "Cole Schave" affect. The comics general paranoia set in. There was some grossly fanned pages on some ultra high grade marvels due to cover shrinkage in the last pedigree auction. This book is fine though.
  14. Wow! Not break $50K? Just curious, what makes you believe it's a gift graded 8.5? That top right corner was graded too softly. Especially with the soft corners on the spine.

  17. give it up dude . It's a silver spidey thread. Ignorance only works for one post
  18. Actually it is though Forums>CGC Forum>Silver Comics>Spidey collecting thread.
  19. How far apart time wise were those sales? Were they all within the same year? GAtor is one of the best when it comes to current FMV in this hobby.
  20. Thanks! And besides that Investment Comics article here were my other reasons: My reasons were: 1. I just don't have faith in WB/DC when it comes to doing a live action Flash movie. They will have only released 1 movie in 2.5 years with MOS being the last, and then there is no guarantee a Flash movie will drop in 2016. 2. Hulk is a Taurus like me! We are both born in the month of May, so I feel a connection with the character just like Batman (Taurus also). 3. I don't feel Flash will ever rise to the marketability or popularity of the Hulk. Besides Spidey, the Hulk is Marvels next most popular character. 4. Even though the Showcase #4 is the rarer book in high grade, IH #1 is still rare in a high grade in its own right. And there being only 4 pedigree IH #1's kind of makes up for that. 5. This is currently the 2nd most valuable SA book on the market, right behind AF #15. Showcase #4 may be 4th or 5th. 6. The majority of my collection is DC, so I wanted to add the mega key Marvel comic book to my collection to give it some diversity. Nice pick up. Interesting points and should be a sound investment. Overall in 8.0 for the sa I think it's still 1. Af15 2. Ff 1 3. Ih 1 4. Sc 4, hulk has a good chance of taking a clear cut lead on ff 1 sometime soon though. Also, I think iron man has been marvels top seller, even dominating spidey Nice list my friend! IH #1 in an 8.0 has already surpassed FF #1 according to the 2013 Overstreet! The IH #1 value is $30K and the FF #1 is $27K. I don't have the recent sale stats according to GPA for that grade. Yeah, I think the TOS #39 has gotten a big boost from the movies recently! Iron Man is no longer considered a 'B' tier character! A nice copy is still very affordable. I was going by gpa . ff138k ih1 30k sc4 25.5k. Sc4 is strong considering its circumstances. Still undervalued. Your statement that SC4 is undervalued is based on the assumption that it should be valued the same as the other comics. Otherwise the numbers on GPA really have no bearing on whether a book is undervalued or overvalued. My assumption that SC4 is undervalued is based on its scarcity and significance. Not any other books value. Also, GPA can let you know if something is undervalued or overvalued in some scenarios. If you're trying to make a private deal on a book that hasn't had a recorded sale in grade for X amount of years but all of the grades under it are trending upward. I think it's safe to say if the asking price is close to its outdated recorded sale, it's undervalued.
