  2. Red is missing. How is it trying to get a complete flash run? The earlier ones seem harder to find than the earlier X-Men.
  3. Excellent journal to read... glad your on the same journey as me, but if something pops up in the sales thread.. LET ME HAVE IT! heeh...
  4. Cover is hanging on by a sliver. But no missing pages. The price was right for a number 2. Last time I saw one was 5 years ago for twice as much in just a bit better condition.
  5. Here is the current inventory, after just picking up a number 2... Red is what I'm missing. I have all annuals and Giant Size issues. Working on getting scans up to my site. 1-50 51-100 101-150 151-200 201-250 251-300 301-350 351-400 401-450 451-500 500-544 fixed
  6. I swear, I only went to get some backing boards...
  7. What software or site lists the books like that? I need to upgrade my excel sheets...
  8. Oh, not asking anything, just sharing my experience in relation to OP's question.
  9. As I am working on my own run, buy whatever you can when you can, whether its from people here on the boards in the for sale section, at conventions, local comic shops or garage sales. I'm of the mind that I want a complete set, first and foremost. Once that is done, then I can start upgrading key issues to slabbed versions. i have duplicates of 144-350, so I may pick the nicest of the issues, and sell the rest to fund the remaining 30-ish issues needed to complete the run. Unless a #1 drops in my lap at a seriously reduced price, I imagine that it will be the final issue I purchase to complete the set. Anything before 93, I don't tend to spend more than $20 an issue, unless it's higher grade and low enough to spend the extra money. i filled out alot of the reprints for $5-$7 each in at least 8.0 quality which helped out quite a bit. My earliest is #4 and i think i got it for $45, and its pretty beat up, but attached. My #94 I bought for $100 back in the early 90's and it graded at 8.5, so I'm good there. I have a 105 that came back with a detached staple that I may upgrade at some point.
  10. I'm just doing the regular covers. If I have variant covers, its through a bulk purchase, not on purpose.
  11. I have roughly 8000 books, mostly bronze and copper age, peppered with silver, and a handful of golden, all completed with some moderns. First comic I bought was Web of Spiderman 17, at the local Circle K store in denver colorado. I did some weekend work at the mile hi comics warehouse at one point, and was paid in back issues of web of spiderman. I immediately fell in love with the X-men, and #207 was my first issue. Since I purchased that #207, I have completed a run from 94-544, with the annuals, and giant size issues. #94 is CGC 8.5 Universal. Currently working on 1-93, and have only 33 issues remaining, with the main one being #1. I've managed to buy about 4000 bulk comics, which included a run from 144-350 or something like that, so I have duplicates. I'm primarily a Marvel fan, but do have a fair amount of DC, with my focus being on the Flash. That run will be probably the next complete set I work on. I went through the Image phase, missed the walking dead, but have a nice set of Peter Panzerfaust, with a #1 CGC 9.8 that I enjoy. I've recently started browsing again after the divorce was final, and have ventured out to the shops, antique stores and CON's as they happen. I'm in the bay area now, and my comic shop of choice was Flying Colors. BUT, I don't purchase new comics any more. The last new comic I bought was the Death of Wolverine series, and so now my time is spent filling in the holes from 1963 to a few years ago. So, I thought I'd throw this up here to keep a running documentation of where I'm at, and to share with those that may be curious.
  12. In my instance, my X-men 94 was signed by claremont and mcleod on the first page, but NOT noted on the blue label. The notes do however mention the signatures.
