  1. Hot Topic is the US' largest purveyor of mass-market pop culture. They're the sole reason Johnny the Homicidal Maniac #1 has been reprinted 30+ times. They also have more than 700 stores across north america. Thinking that they did a custom variant for a Star Wars comic book (when they already sell a ton of SW merch in their stores) with a print run that translates out to less than 5 copies pr. store is ridiculous in the extreme. Thinking they would get more copies of Star Wars than My Little Pony comics doesn't make sense. How many copies of My Little Pony did Hot Topic sell? Lots apparently: http://www.comicsbeat.com/my-little-pony-leads-to-their-big-sales-for-idw-1-million-copies/ Uhh..... Hot Topic is not the only store that sells these..........
  2. They were trying to keep it secret? It was not hard to figure out.
  3. Some people have said because of the storm back east, some of the Hot Topics stores have not gotten the comic to put out yet. Thats the story they were giving in San Antonio last week. That they had not received their copys. Which changed to we cant put them out, were sending them back and then we destroyed them. This saga has a bit of a ways until its played out completely.
  4. pms incoming!! Great find, what is the average condition? Average is probably VG- to FN, with some much nicer and a few rags. Oddly, lots of duplicates. Awesome. Picked up a Batman 121 at that Estate sale and and some cool Rodan lobby cards. Those early Jimmy Olsens and Lois Lanes were tempting........ What got my attention were the 80pg giants. I had a few picked out to buy before I figured out they were open to a bulk price on everything. Five minutes later, I had them all. Awesome!!! They were some nice looking comics!!!

  6. They got their Loss prevention team involved. Looks like they might try to account for the copies?
  7. Hot Topic variant is still selling briskly in the $50 range. Over 110 listings this morning....its at 90 now. Do a distance nearest check on the sold listings on Ebay........those are the areas that sold them if they were not bought online. Either way this has been interesting to watch.
  8. For what its worth I called every Hot Topic in town...... two locations destroyed theirs, one sent them back to corp and another said they did not receive any. The one store that did have some put them back out for sale. They only had 4 copies. Their retail space for comics was one small shelf that could hold maybe 20 comics max. They had a few My Little Ponys after I left. I figured its not too much of a gamble at buy one and get one at 50% off.
  9. Every Hot Topic I called in town today says they were instructed to hold their Star Wars 1 and not put them out yet. I asked if they were recalled and the Manager said no they just could not sell them yet. IDK?
  10. Is this for real??? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Batman-1-5th-Print-CGC-9-8-MINT-RARE-Scott-Snyder-New-52-/201265450141?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item2edc5b0c9d
  11. Phil is the kind of fellow Texan I love dealing with!!!
  12. Or GOTG? He does have a power stone/gem of some kind?
  13. Hector Oh nos!!!!! I did the same with Terror Inc. # 1 with the last collection I bought!!!!!
  14. I would think the digital sales would have to make up for some of these numbers. Kind of like low rated TV shows that do well with DVR secondary replays. I wonder if anyone can guess the collector/reader base from these sales figures?
  15. What were they selling for two years after they came out?
  16. Good call. Not really valuable book, but I can't find one anywhere. Seems like these are much easier to find now. I counted 30 of them on ebay today (obviously at various grades). It's still a great book to find in high grade, but I think the 1st appearance craze has brought more of these out of the wood-works. Another one to look at is Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E #0. First appearance Stargirl. Female first appearance characters have been red hot lately. Maybe not a tier 1 character, but this book is pretty difficult to find and has some mid/long term potential. Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E #0. Geoff Johns was the writer. This was a fun read.
  17. I like Ryan North. His Adventure Time comics were excellent! Good writing always makes for good selling and timeless comics.
