Buyers who use the last auction sale to buy a book
Mr Sneeze replied to blazingbob's topic in Comics General
If you want an auction price, the best thing is to be patient and scout out the next auction your interested in. Negotiated prices tend to be higher imho. -
I like what you have said here and agree. It is with a strip like this that I am in awe of what comics have to offer and that - I feel - can't be replicated in another medium. For many, comics are nothing more than story boards but I can't imagine anything being further from the truth. That being said, I am curious to see what this medium can do with such a rich story and hopefully play to it's own strengths.

I really enjoyed the first episode - more than I thought I would. I really don't think the show can capture what I get out of the comics but that doesn't mean that it still can't be a great show.

Your point is well taken. You hit the nail on the head when you say hard core fan. I might think it awesome if I was unfamiliar with the source material. At this point for me, I just want to see something I haven’t before. I hold superhero movies to a standard of entertaining me for the admission price, so given that, most of them pass but few are memorable.

I think marvel messed the bed with the introduction of time travel and the multiverse. There are no stakes that can be taken seriously. They have hit the comic equivalent of Heroes Reborn. Also, I can’t stress enough how uninteresting it is to have a studio bring stories out that we are already well versed in.

So I put my comics in a storage locker(Climate controlled)
Mr Sneeze replied to fastballspecial's topic in Comics General
A pallet will absorb a lot of water over time so put a water proof barrier between it and the first level or boxes. A thick piece of plastic or lexan etc. -
Convince me not to sell my entire comic book collection... Or don't.
Mr Sneeze replied to Ariamus's topic in Comics General
One thing that rings truer over the years is putting a value on your time. Having sold plenty of items over the years, wether here or ebay etc, it is amazing how little I/we value it. It is great fun to sell and I will always continue in some fashion but free time is priceless. -
Convince me not to sell my entire comic book collection... Or don't.
Mr Sneeze replied to Ariamus's topic in Comics General
I’ve sold off most of my comics in recent years and it’s liberating. There are lots of great dealers here on the boards who will give you a fair price and move those boxes out for you as well. -

Remember, your time is valuable. Especially to you. -
As fond as I am of ebay in it’s beginning years and as much as I dislike some of the major changes over the years (hiding ids and not being able to leave negative feedback for a buyer), I find that the reality is that I have little to complain about. Despite the many hoops I have to go through to sell on ebay, it is still the one place I find to sell things for a decent price where I would otherwise be lucky to get pennies on the dollar. Depends on what your selling of course.

Frank Herbert's DUNE from Legendary Pictures (TBD)
Mr Sneeze replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Like it or not, Dune is artsy fartsy! That's why it's so good. Though I think the academy would wait out any significant awards until they see how the conclusion pans out ala Return of the King. -
