  2. If Valiant were replaced with Hustruck and the exact same thread were duplicated I believe it would draw much more ire, yes. Once again, my goal here is not to offend you, but just for us as a community to more clearly define some of the grey area moving forward. Hustruck, or someone like him, could easily have called in a favor to announce his buddy as the winner without him actually winning anything. The benefit? Well if the BIN was $1000 and the highest bid was $375 it would give the seller an out if he was unhappy with the highest realized price. Once again, Im not saying this is the case here. I believe your heart is pure, Sir, but IMO offering up books via auction to anyone but the highest non-PL/HOS bidder is a recipe for abuse. I just wanted to clarify for you and I don't believe anyone rules were broken. I just wanted to clarify my position. That is no different from the same friend posting a BIN in the thread, once again able to get away free or placing a bid last minute with a shill account. We can play the What if game for a while and several different scenarios on just about any listing. What about threads that offer "incentives" to buy more buy getting free stuff or prizes...several times in those threads things sell via pm and the sale via pm gets the freebies...maybe that is a friend . What about the mystery box threads like Comicalgems (and by no means is this true just an example as I have personally been there when a box sent was opened), what if some of his friends purchased the first few boxes and they were PACKED full of wicked good stuff and the rest were mediocre at best but by having the first few opened in thread everyone was like that is some good stuff i should buy a few.
  3. Do you actually believe he was trying to give a bud a deal while snubbing everyone else when he could have done it in private? I don't. I think his intentions were genuine but people will always disagree and look for the worst. Last year I started an innocent thread in General asking people's opinions on the best way to run a long, discounted selling thread to prevent flippers from snatching up all the good books. I was genuinely looking for fresh ideas to make sure it was done right. The thread was yanked by mods ( ) because someone thought I was running a spam thread in Comics General. As if someone needs to spam the forums to make a discounted sales thread successful. As if the vultures don't smell them from a mile away. No, this place needs to lighten up a little sometimes. If someone like vaillant wants to put a book up for sale and then refuse all offers and give it to Johnny Homeless, that's their perogative, but if they're a quality poster that gives more to this place than just money and the refresh button then it's also their right, IMO. Don't invite ppls to your wedding party or basketball
  4. Whoever keeps not paying on that cgc 8.5 must be off that seller

  7. From last night/early this morning We need an update from him, but I don't think we'll get it. I accidentally lied and the slab isn't damaged and I didn't actually send those photos they were on my instagram and I didn't try and drop ship the ebayer is a liar and just out to get me. My prediction
  8. These stories get better and better. I am glad I never did business with the tool and been on ignore for months so I didn't need to worry about "PM SENT" in my threads from him.
  9. His scum tactics aren't only on here, he does it on other selling venues as well.
  10. @4Comix has he read any of your pm's in the last few days?
  11. This is really starting to be my opinion...recurring new scams to get one up on the boardies
  12. You sure on this...was under the impression 1 post = reholder = same number (picture shows just a single post) 2 posts = regrade = new number Simply guidelines and not requirements. Spoke to Bree, if the case is broken in such a way that the book can come out (and in that picture it would be SUPER easy to remove the book) it has to be regraded. If it's regraded it has to get a new cert. That is a given....but that book in the photo shown would not be super easy to get out.

  15. still waiting Oh what were you selling that I can offer 50% of GPA and its going in my personal collection so I won't be selling it any time soon
  16. Your point is reasonable enough. I am not familiar with these books, but if the consensus was that $55.00 compensation for this issue was a significantly inflated (and therefore abusive) price for the book, it would be more understandable if the seller balked. Nobody wants to feel like they are being put over a barrel. That said, when I see a $25 dollar difference, which presumably could have been settled for less drama at an earlier time, I remember that old (outdated?) saying "the customer is always right". Of course it doesn't literally mean the customer is always right, as a customer can be abusive or unreasonable, but its a philosophy that puts effort into customer satisfaction, and that often helps avoid getting into these situations in the first place. If you make a mistake, and you know you've made a mistake, fix it quickly and make it right, and 99% of customers will go away still happy. I know nothing of the rarity of the book in question etc, but if I buy a set and its missing 1 issue from the set and the only way for me to complete the set is to buy it from ebay seems like an obvious solution.
  17. Like a real hockey team? We have at least one in Edmonton...................my son's Atom team. If you are talking a real NHL team, we have not had one since 2008 in these parts. On the bright side, the Oilers have a good shot at winning the draft lottery this year. It isn't quite the Stanley Cup, but at least it's something. They seem to win that every year
