  1. This is my gut reaction as well. I don't see anyone grabbing the baton from Stan when he passed. I have trouble thinking of anyone who might.
  2. Good information for John Romita Sr. ... but even this can vary by artist as I have seen many breakdowns that don't meet this level of detail. It can vary greatly by artist/team
  3. This answer has many facets. Should an auction house do their diligence? Absolutely. As a professional auction house, they are seen as the expert and are pushing to get as much money for their consignors as possible. That places a huge onus on them to "get it right" when listing artwork. As the scale and price points of this hobby continues to move upward, this responsibility bears more weight. Should a buyer do their diligence? Personally, I also say absolutely but buyers aren't always experts and so I feel this, again, falls more on the auction house. There are always going to be scenarios where something like breakdowns aren't a widely known fact, or if a replacement past up was added, etc. This should be the exception scenario for a reputable auction house and not commonplace.
  4. I have it on good authority that this DC change will drive down the price of all Hulk art, especially Sal Buscema (it's a complicated algorithm, trust me). The time to sell all of this material is now, before it plummets to next to nothing. If you want to sell now before the collapse, let me know. I know a guy.
  5. I have been searching for a page with Surfer in 9 panels but no luck, had to settle for 8 surfers on a page. Whatcha gonna do?
  6. Ron Lim Silver Surfer https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1679782
  7. Ron Lim-athon piece 2 of 3 this week (piece 1 was a commission in that thread). Great cosmic art and story telling by Starlin and Lim. Infinity War 4 page 25v with Thanos, Gamora, and Warlock https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1678506
  8. Count me among those that did not know about the books. I will have to look into this. Great project - I hope they have great success with this venture. Thanks for sharing Glen.
  9. I love Ron Lim art and was thrilled to add this great Hulk commission to the collection. Thinking about adding some inks and bg https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1678035
  10. I am firmly planted in the art camp at this time. I pick up an occasional comic, reader key maybe or something that hits a nostalgic spot, or maybe to fill out a run ... but no big expenditures. Moving soon and will have considerably more room to explore the comic collection that has been packed away in long boxes for a decade or more. I keep telling myself that I will go through it and pull the nice books to grade and trade off (read: grade, sell, buy art with proceeds). Time will tell if and when I do this but for now, they sit.
  11. Nice snag Dan, you were quick on this one and I was slow. Congrats!
  12. The way it should have gone down! More info on CAF https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1675930
  13. Impulse eBay purchase - love Art Baltazar so this was a no brainer purchase! AW YEAH! https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1674913
  14. I was also into sports cards and comics during this time and always felt that cards were the better investment and comics were more fun. I had it backwards (as a lot did) but I did move away from sports cards and stayed with comics somewhat because I learned after the collapse of both markets that neither were great investments (although I might do alright when I finally get around to grading the stack of NM98's amongst other things) so I stayed with what was fun. I still enjoy pro sports, including baseball, but don't collect there at all. I will pick up a pack of cards or maybe a cheap box for the thrill of opening packs - once a year or so. I also need to go through my sports card collection (sitting all these years) to see what I might have worth putting in the effort to sell but I don't look forward to the research.
  15. I have to strongly echo the statements Chris made about Alex Riegel. I got a piece last year and was thrilled with all aspects of the experience. I haven't posted as it is oversized and I don't have a good scan - here are the pics I do have currently.
  16. John Byrne Arthur Adams Haven't been there when confluence of right piece and right time presents itself. Some day.
  17. I actually like Arthur Adams now (and that's something as I love the early stuff as well). Joe Bennett on Immortal Hulk is at his peak as a penciller Ed McGuinness continues to get better (example - early Hulk vs Red Hulk run) There are a lot more examples
