  1. This is worth it for me. These are more than just art, they are artifacts from the production of stories that we loved. The writers have just as much history with these pages as the artists and that part of owning the pages means a lot to some, including myself. Just make sure to specify where you want them to sign.
  2. A good exception to the rule IMO - I would likely have a wider matting on something like this and/or add the overlays.
  3. This is my general approach as well and a well described reason why. I have a 60's page with Jack Kirby art and Stan Lee comments in the margins. If I were to cover up the comments, you would lose part of the process. That said, there is no right answer as each collection should fit the personal preference of the owner. Each piece is unique and can have different needs/preference when it comes time to frame.
  4. Grant, you have a great collection and I can tell by how you acquire art that you have curated a collection that very much suites your taste for art. Ver well done! For me, the answer to the question is an emphatic "yes" - I learned that this is a decision I had to make early on as there are always pieces that are out of reach for me in terms of availability and cost. At some point in your collecting journey (different for all of us), you start to curate your collection and think in terms of what you want it to look like in the future. I don't want to stop collecting today, but if I did I would be very happy with where I ended my journey. I have always told myself that I would like to start turning various non art collectibles into funds to by art but never have gotten around to it. I think I am nearing that time as I see some additional time availability in my future.
  5. Made my first buys in CAF LIVE to date (near misses in previous shows). It is a great event that brings a lot of art to market - several that had not seen the light of day in a long time. Some prices were high but that's how it is these days - not unique to this event IMO.
  6. Sure, I haven't done it a lot but I would see no issue. Like others have said, I would look to get it in the margins. Signatures bother some people, others don't care, and for some it might make it more desirable.
  7. Bleeding Cool has posted a few times on Lake Como, including pics and video
  8. Certainly a top tier artist in comic history, and his kindness and appreciation of his fans were as high as I have seen from an artist. His spirit and enthusiasm will be missed. RIP
  9. Most of us understood the meaning of your post, it was pretty clear. There is a small number that see "Sal Buscema" in any context and feel the internal drive to start a debate and trash the man's art. It would be wonderful if that "debate" (being kind with that word) would find a single thread and stay there as it has polluted many a thread over the years.

  11. How about taking the dispute (that we have all heard more times than is needed) to PM as you are obviously having the same repeated conversation, between the same people ... over, and over, and over again. It's tired to be honest and is not a welcome thread derail. Please, and thank you.
  12. I feel for his family - seems like they were very active in his life and business.
  13. That's an amazing page! Thanks for sharing!
  14. 4X in a year and a half, for Spiderman ... sounds about right. Crazy market indeed
  15. I haven't shared this for a while, might be a good time and place to do again (hoping to flush out a 227 page).
  16. I like the cut of your jib sir! I'd like to have all of his Hulk pages but that won't happen - almost to 50 of them, a long way to go!
  17. Yes and no. I you are throwing cash at these prices - yes. If you are trading up/over on what you have had for a long time - not necessarily. Cost basis is key IMO
  18. What a great thread, despite some of the no-value-added posts. Sal was a great artist and my personal favorite and it is nice to see the rising tide in his values in the market, even if it has slowed down my acquisitions. I am always looking to add Sal art! Love the pics posted from the first dozen issues in the Hulk run that were posted - I have a few from the era and they are cherished pieces in my collection. Keep posting Sal art!
  19. Oh, it won't stop at 4 - trust me
  20. I thought Klaus worked very well over Sal also but everyone has differing tastes. I preferred the inkers that stayed very true to Sal's line - the Joe S duo (Sinnott and Staton) come to mind in that regard. But there were some heavier stylized inkers that worked well over Sal also - in addition to Klaus, Ernie Chan and Gerry Talaoc created a great look as a team with Sal. My .02
