  1. Agree Simon and that is the key difference that I prefer about forums. There tends to be more depth in conversation as it is easier to follow and find. Social media gets a lot of attention up front and ignites a quick flurry of activity, but it tends to flame out quickly and once buried past the first page or two, goes by the wayside.
  2. It is impossible to look at this as you describe "objectively" IMHO. Frank's style is so strong that the only way you don't recognize his immediate style is if you don't know anything about this hobby. I know I can't look at it and think of it not being a Frank Miller cover(s) - my .02. I like the Spidey and DD much more than the Thing cover. You won't see any of them posted in my CAF because I don't have Frank high on my want list. Congrats to whoever pulled down the Spidey.
  3. There are lots of reasons but the main is that the conversations have been widely dispersed with the explosion of social media. Whatever platform you prefer to engage in (FB, IG, Twitter, etc.), that is where a lot of people tend to spend their time. The aforementioned Statue Forum site is a great example - once brimming with conversations and content, the traffic has dwindled significantly. I am a moderator over there so I still post but only a tiny fraction of users post compared to the pre-social media days. I tend to prefer the forum format but I am clearly in the minority with that preference.
  4. For published stuff - keep as is and do NOT ink directly over. As suggested, get a copy made for him to ink. If it was a commission, go for it if you like
  5. I have always focused on character. In the beginning, almost exclusively. I have favorite artists which would be my next level of focus.
  6. Indeed - Marcus covers the full spectrum of quality and quantity on his comments!
  7. I am definitely on the "Marcus Rocks" bandwagon. His comments are always appreciated and enjoyable - both on my own art, and others. It sounds like I missed a thread about someone not liking his comments? Crazy if so. We have taken first world problems to a new level. Wow
  8. Congrats on the retirement ... and having a good plan in place to fill your new-found abundance of time. Good luck in your pursuits!

  16. I asked her at Heroes as well. Nice addition - love her style.
  17. Jim Mooney and Bob Layton in the guest issue, Hulk 230, while the main crew crossed over to Captain America to continue a story. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1835635
  18. It's been a while for a new addition to this collection - the latest Bob Larkin Hulk poster homage is by the talented Jim Rugg.
  19. I would not say I am "tired" of them. I don't watch as many as I used to because time is seemingly always a factor. It's another avenue to buy art - I have no problem with that. I have added some pieces to my collection, including a page from an issue I had been seeking for a long time. The show does press the FOMO button so you need to be aware of what you really want so you don't buy too much on impulse.
  20. Tim will be missed - both as an artist and a human being. He was just good to people which is not always the case any more. He always made time to chat and loved to draw for his fans. Here is a snip of my only commission experience (although we chatted a few times online). https://thejadegiant.wordpress.com/2013/06/26/tim-sale-hulk-commission-determination-pays-off-with-video-and-pictures/
  21. Totally agree - quality pieces with flexible pricing (if not claimed right away). GREAT show!
  22. Good stuff - moments like these are gold and I have often had similar experiences and wished I had hit record on the phone
