  1. I see it somewhat this way as well. I like being able to see a piece of art, even if not available for sale. For me, an image being on CAF is better than not. I don't get too worked up about this stuff and I know several pieces I have bought remain online (CAF or otherwise). Some people take it down, some mark it sold, some move to another folder (pieces they no longer own). I think some might object to it if they want to eventually create a "fresh to market so it is worth more" marketing pitch. You can't control what is on the internet once it makes it's way there, so I don't worry too much about trying.
  2. Had this page in my sights and then it vanished. Looking for current owner. Any help is appreciated. https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1768876
  3. This is a no harm no foul situation to me. Each CAF owner does things differently and each to their own (unless they are advertising for sale). IF it bothers you, you could ask to mark clearly that it has been sold.

  6. Makes sense and lines up with a possibility I was thinking about. Dolmayan running the collecting of bids would know where it landed and could offer $1 more. Or maybe he made Jim an offer that he liked ... and they opened the set to outside offers to see if someone would offer more (and then again, be able to pay $1 more).

  8. I love the watch feature on CAF. I wasn't a premium member for a long time and this was a feature I had no idea I was missing. Once I signed up, it became a favorite feature and I use it multiple times a week usually - primarily to follow galleries that I really appreciate, and friends who post new art. As for the new addition that allows to see who follows you, I don't mind if anyone knows I follow them and am discovering some members that follow me which has me looking at their galleries. I think it is a good idea and see no downside but respect anyone who decides that they don't want anyone to know that they follow.

  15. The term "published" can be used somewhat loosely in the hobby due to the value of something being published vs not. The how it was published is the key factor here and should always be disclosed when selling so the buyer can make their own decision on how they value the art.
  16. So, let me get this straight: You have been trying to put a complete issue together for 20 plus years? You have all but one page? The page missing is the best (or near) page in the book? You have a chance to buy said page? I gotta say ... close the deal! Even if over FMV - it's the best page so you would expect that. I have heard so many stories of people where you are that never get a chance to take the shot you have in front of you. That's me and I don't know the numbers involved but if the complete issue is as important as it sounds and you have been chasing for 20 years I would do everything I could to close the deal. How would you feel if the seller pulled the offer and it was no longer available? Or sold to a black hole collector? If you can't stomach this idea, buy it. If this would make you feel relieved, move on and stop chasing. Odds are the page will stop being available - one way or another. And ... is the seller a member of this board? If so, you should have gone through these thought processes before posting as the price may be higher now.
