This paragraph was part of the updated announcement.

How does this CGC announcement make collectors aware who are not on these boards?

Does CGC make announcements related to these failed/comprised CGC holders on social media platforms such as X, Facebook or Instagram? If so that’s good, if not then how can anyone think you are serious about informing collectors around the world?

Has CGC warned unknowing collectors that CGC employees were stealing customer books & printing fake labels?

Can we stop this circlejerk about Oregon being lawless or whatever? It's not true and just really judgmental. There are far more chief reasons for why Mike hasn't been held totally accountable, and much of that is the unique nature of this case.

Calm down Cleetus & put your panties back on lol

What was the 2012 Bankruptcy? His business ? Or personal?

When did he officially start Hero? I'm sure it's been said.

The bankruptcy in 2012 was his failed computer business where he claimed his total cash at $50 and in the more recent bankruptcy in 2020 he claimed $1 in his bank account. In 8 years this greasy ginsel was able to amass a dynasty with a total value of $51 but was held in highest esteem among carnival barkers in the comic universe.

I’m not certain about the official start of Hero Restoration but I think it was during his first bankruptcy or not long after.

Moving forward, I expect CGC to tighten up their comic book inspections before assigning a grade. These latest incidents/mishaps from CGC cannot  happen again. They probably need to re-train everyone from the time they receive a package from a customer to shipping out back their property. Step by step, they have to instill stricter guidelines to follow. Security cameras are a must for each department, which I've mentioned before. PSA has had that set-up for a few years now after several past customers (including myself) complained that their cards were damaged during the grading process.

Sure TAT's will be slower, but in my eyes, will be well worth the wait. I do not want to second guess buying a CGC graded comic, thinking if something was missing or if the grade assigned is accurate for that book. I've spent a lot of money towards CGC graded books in my lifetime thinking that each book I paid is all good. I'm hoping CGC can announce soon what added security featues to the slab will be done to prevent bad actors from compromising the slab by switching books and/or labels out.

Time will tell if any such improvements will be made.

Nothing will change at CGC, it’s the same incompetent management who allowed fraudulent books to be sent in for reholder, held these fraudulent books in their hands and then sent back this bogus CGC product to the scammer to be sold to the unknowing CGC masses. They allowed CGC employee thugs to print fake labels for an unknown number of books to bilk CGC customers.

CGC has preferential customers who send in books for a “reholder” wherein they just send in the book with a label without the cracked/broken case. NO QUESTIONS ASKED, CGC sends these natives back a freshly reholdered book. Try that yourself and see how that works out for ya.

It’s the same CGC employees hired from Shoe Town to handle your books at minimum wage.

The natives have to dump a few 100 CGC slabs a month, this chitshow is pinching their wallet and is why they pop in to read a few posts, throw a few rocks, then disappear back in CGC’s turd funnel.

You DO realize what you are asking is for both CGC and sellers to FULLY DISCLOSE that a book they are trying to sell for maximum dollars has been worked on in order to artificially manipulate it from a lower graded copy into a higher graded copy.  :screwy:

Sure, it's "legit" from CGC's point if view, but have you ever seen any auction listing with a description that says the book bring auctioned used to be a former lower graded copy.  There's a clear reason for why this is NEVER EVER disclosed and it's all to do with money.  doh!

If you can't trust that the book in the case graded by a third-party grading company is actually the book it is supposed to be, what purpose does the third-party grading company have? They have sucked tens of millions of dollars out of the hobby and made it possible for scamsters to take even more.

In 1999, Steve convinced me there was a need for a third-party company that would make transactions with other dealers easier.  A bunch of NY dealers had recently been burnt by a California dealer who overpromised but underdelivered.   He'd sold us books he claimed were Fine Plus, but we argued they were  VG minus. CGC was supposed to eliminate such issues. Now they say to buy from the people they claimed they were protecting us from. If I only buy from reputable people who will stand behind their product, why do I need a third party to take a piece?

When a sports team is underperforming, ownership usually recognizes it needs a management change.

You are making way too much sense, post like this are 100% accurate but upset the natives who will soon follow with confused emojis because they have no sensical response.

It isn't a "prosecution" because it is civil, not criminal. The civil equivalent is "frivolous" or :harassment." I don't think CGC's case meet these definitions at all. Zanello et al did harm CGC's brand with their fraud and have caused CGC to suffer monetary damages. There is no way around that. CGC is a victim due to the criminal mischief of the defendant.

Cause of Action for Malicious Prosecution can be filed for civil or criminal

This is particularly stunning considering the fact that in their own legal filing they allege that the party they are suing was reselling books directly to consumers. His work was good enough to fool their employees for years, however if Joe Public was fooled in the same way by this same person, tough luck. Buy from a reputable dealer next time. which I guess is no longer Comiclink according to CGC, good to know.

CGC is going to get smoked in this case and I hope they get sued for malicious prosecution, sometimes pain is the only way to learn.

Unfortunately, counterfeit – and, relatedly, tampered – products have become an issue that many companies and consumers now face. Bad actors seek illegitimate profits by creating knockoffs of well-known, trusted and valuable brands. CGC is one of these targets, and we will take aggressive action to combat counterfeiters and other fraudsters, including through lawsuits, security enhancements and awareness campaigns. We cannot, however, provide compensation to people who purchase counterfeit or tampered products. This would, in effect, render the counterfeit or tampered products as valuable as the real deal, despite CGC having absolutely no involvement in their production.

The 350 books identified by CGC on 1/3/24 are in a different category because they were submitted to CGC for reholder after being tampered with, and we did not detect the tampering at the time.

We still want to know about other counterfeit or tampered with CGC holders because we will aggressively pursue these bad actors to the fullest extent of the law. We are committed to taking the appropriate steps to prevent counterfeiting (and tampering), and we will take legal action against those who attempt it.

CCG strongly advises prospective buyers to do their research and buy from reputable sources. CGC offers the free Verify CGC Certification tool on its websites to help collectors and dealers verify CGC-certified collectibles. In addition, collectors can use the CGC Dealer Locator to find CGC Authorized Dealers.

Mike can you ask the CGC lawyer who typed this note a few a questions ?

If the grading “professionals” at CGC could not detect a CGC case that had been tampered with, how is anyone else supposed to detect tampering? Isn’t CGC the most prominent grading company in the world? If CGC can’t detect tampering, how does CGC expect anyone else to recognize tampering?

Why can’t CGC provide compensation to people who purchase comics in tampered cases? If CGC claims to have tamper resistant holders that have been compromised by tampering, shouldn’t the owner of the tamper proof holder be compensated for the tamper resistant holder that been exposed to tampering?

So based on Mike’s statement, a CGC guarantee is worth exactly zero. Good luck out there, hope nobody messed with our easily exploited cases! The sudden change to the word counterfeit to align with the lawsuit is hilarious too. Now that’s the word of the day instead of crappy process and case design. Got it.

BOOOM !!! I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing !!! The CGC guarantee is lower than whale chit at ocean bottom.

I kinda feel sorry for CGC Mike because some Stuffed Shirt at CGC (Can’t Guarantee Chit) handed him this list of CGC hieroglyphics to post here to satisfy the natives and chromosome deficient slugs but those of us with with functional brains see the reality of CGC slapping lipstick on a pig. lol

Here is another book from that submission https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/1393412001/

Why would I possibly consider buying that comic, when 2 of the books in that submission were put on the list?

I think you’ve had other examples like this but yea I completely agree and it’s extremely perplexing as to the CGC methodology in this situation. If 2 books from a submission are on the list but a 3rd book from the same submission is not on the list, seems CGC is opening themselves up to additional liability, I can’t figure out this madness.
