  1. I think the book is super....I would say $700K
  2. That assumption based upon market results could be a few new "whale" collectors especially in the original art market which can be easily changed by the absence of those type of collectors. I agree that market prices have not dropped or the "the sky has fallen" whether it was the stimulus money, or a lack of people to spend on other items such as entertainment. But at some point this "free" money is going to have to be paid back....and those consequences are gonna be felt in every economic market not just collectables. The higher it goes the bigger the fall. That is why I have recommended that purchases over $1000 to CGC blue label with great paper and staple quality. Quality should be the last to have price adjustments due to outside economic issues. I have to repeat myself but your statement that Collectables are "unaffected by the current problems" is a contradiction itself...a problem of this size and nature affects everybody and everything at some point.
  3. I will second that after 50 years of collecting.
  4. I think that opinion is limited to your own experience. We are far from out of this economic downturn, let alone this virus....The real effects take time at some point whether higher tax rates or loss of job/income every economic bracket is gonna pay for this recovery. You cannot just print trillions of dollars and have the government not get them back at some point, whether inflation, tax increases...and remember the golden rule on tax increases...it is the people that have the money that are able to pay the tax..this is not doom or gloom Poekaymon but simple economic reality. Government spends...we pay.
  5. This sales show the large price difference we have taken in our hobby for unrestored blue label comic books..like it not...it is what is...
  6. I agree with the major long term economic damage yet to come, cash is always king in tough times, so I think a major factor is economic need or need of cash...this could turn around in 2 years or so...this is a very long term playout....so if you buy, do so wisely with a long term hold strategy.
  7. agree on Red Revan 1...in the early 1970's it was a big book along with Daring Mystery #1....I preferred Daring #1 cover...what a great book...Daredevil early issues and covers were great with SS#6 and DD V Hitler....too bad it just did not play out great...
  8. AF#2 one of my ALL time favorite GA covers....great stuff
  9. John had turned down some amazing offers on that Cap#1...here clearly thought it was the best out there and think that would be one the last ones to go in a sale.
  10. I agree 2021 does hold promise, whether or not there will be a SDCC in 2021 is very much up in the air, I would say no Wonder Con 2021. Still more time at home has given me the opportunity to reread a number of great books including FF 1-30, etc. I predict at some point late next year we will have a resuming of conventions...and with the closing of so many comic shops and the increase of "on Line " buying, which I did a lot more in 2020 for example the great "history of EC comics" thru Amazon I think comic book convention sales will go thru the roof. Here is to a great 2021..not gonna be a easy year...with truth, justice and the American way we will prevail.
  11. If error legitimate and really want the book, paying slighly more should be OK. If you suspect otherwise, then do not go forward with your purchase...I would ask for a full explanation which is reasonable.
  12. I think the number is growing, and remember it just takes two to bid the price of an item up to the stratosphere. However, there could be a big difference between the the 3d bidder and #1 and #2 as far as price point...general rule, buy what you like, and if you have and enjoy the art and you can exit breaking even, consider yourself lucky.
  13. I love that cover...a friend of mine had AL paint that cover for him...it is simply stunning.
  14. RIP what a great artist...
  15. 1# Jack Kirby and will always be King and #1 #2 Frazetta...best of the best artistic wise and great with other artists such as Al Williamson etc, would be #1 but for limited output..I know quality not quantity. #3 Steve Ditko ...his 50's 60's SF work is the best and incredible, ASM 1-38...what more can I say.. #4 Wally Wood, artistic wise, probably during his EC peak the second best comic artist of all time...SuperduperMan, Atomic Bomb, My World etc #5 Dave Stevens...again like Frazetta limited output...but simply amazing stuff when he is "On"...as time goes on, we as comic book historians will really see how important style wise his contribution to our comic book world, a incredible loss to leave us at such a early age, but a true true fan from the heart.
  16. Its time CAT....this is one....great copy, now you detectives out there, where did this come from?
  17. Attending SDCC, one pinup art painting and one pulp painting, and a high grade copy of TOT ANN #1
  18. On every auction site...you have not only shill bidders but FAKE bidders who bid low and when they win they say I cannot afford it, it happened to me on HA's a few years ago..they relisted and gave me a additional discount on the fees. As far as the dealers admission, I believe that is just the tip of the iceberg and as I recall, there was some pushback by one auction site..
