  1. great deal on that 82,622.00 won on the last second of bidding
  2. if bids increase 20% or so which might be expected, it would be 96,500.00 which would mean your price would be closer than my price...10 mins to go
  3. less than an hour...Final price my best guess.......$100,060.00
  4. This should top 100K when all is said an done...nice copy
  5. Tales of Terror ANN1 has incredible contents some of which I believe differ...Look at Robo's copy VOH, HF, and TFTC number 1's...if you ever have the opportunity to get a complete and unrestored copy at a reasonable price...Grab it, I believe that Jim from HA owns the original art to this classic cover....
  6. my response is probably due to the type of collection which is GA specific you might be right and either auction house would produce the same results, its just that Ha does have the edge of greater resources and clearly a better website in which to display the collection, as well as a different and more efficient way to auction the material.
  7. on my phone so sometimes hit the wrong key, no chance to proofread, however, this collection is just amazing to see in person
  8. It is the real deal , several years ago Theo original barks oil collection was shot for video production I was the interviewer and Carl barks newsletters creator Edgar Bergen was the expert. . Rach of theirs 25 plus oils were talked about.. since that time he has sold to lessor painting of terror on the river which the ducks were small and the Christmas paintings one of weakest bards did for the the classic family portrait peace which barks did 2 I believe... one which is on the covers of the barks painting book... the video was never released
  9. a complete collection, including impossible ratites, interesting choice over Ha.com to auction his complete collection plus some dupes
  10. Theo had that painted also, he might of sold him that painting...it was oversized..the book is VERY under valued
  11. we all have been around a long time an its great to see we are still in it...we are for real in terms of true collectors...there is not a better feeling then finding great unknown stuff...you do it all the time and you outstanding collection shows it...Theo has always been on another level, I remember one time in the 70's when he had 12...yes 12 Weird Science #1(12)...it took him over 10 years to find his TTA#1...and he still has it, I think he paid 5x guide on that at the time...I think you own one too...very difficult book
  12. In an auction setting its different....more competition for example he was bidding against a famous filmmaker on Vacation Panel carl barks oil..it got jacked up to about $175K, he had bought that painting originally in a trade for 50K and sold it to Kirby Cofer for 100K...typical in an auction setting, one on one very tough to deal with especially if you want to buy it from him.
  13. if and I think it is in regards of a fiction house book...there was an apparent grading issue, however it might be something else.....but he has paid millions of dollars to Ha....as he paid the world record price for a barks painting auction sale of 282K or something like that, he paid the worlds highest price for a pulp painting..HJ Ward's evil flame I think it was around 135K, and paid the worlds highest price for a barks painting off the grid so. and I believe he just bought from the same auction house the Tales from the Crypt paperback cover by Frit that over 100K..they could be a few transitions out of a thousand.
  14. the difference might be more than just a restored cover and could also have a lot of page repair....
  15. that is what he was referring to....there have been a lot of under the table sales by him and a lot good stuff bought and sold, for sure he has the best barks oil collection out there, I know he recently won the portrait with all the ducks from a Ha animation art sale and he recently sold the CB oil looking in the window.
  16. most of his sales are person to person such as the complete mad story sales....
  17. There is no doubt a great book, my prediction is high 106K and low 97K.....who ever wins CONG...heck of a present for Christmas
  18. that is great book cover less or not.....Sup 1...
  19. As of 2 years ago he does not have a better copy.. the last one he bought was from HA which was a 5.0 unrestored for around 72k and then sold that copy on C-link for 100k or so to buy some barks paintings including one for over 200k of Scrooge jumping in the money from ha.com however I can tell you from day one there were two books besides Superman 1 that are his all time favorites....one is Cap 1 and second is tales of terror annual #1 which had limited distribution. He has always liked Superman 1 better than action 1....his theory is that Superman one contains action 1 plus the separate origin... he has a point... my self I like them both but prefer action 1... as far as cover less copies they have been trashed for years until they began to be broken up for pages making them even more difficult to obtain... Action 1 and Tech 27 and Superman 1 cover less still are great buys despite the word getting out. it might be interesting to see if an unrestored coverless copy could overtake as some point a heavily restored copy in the future....time will tell
  20. His take is probably it only takes "one" to buy....I would not be surprised that he thinks a restored Sup 1 or Action 1 is a better market buy right now in the current market. It appears he thinks the coverless issues are the most undervalued for 2018 so those of you who are on the fence should go for it if that is your spending limit.. Food for thought if you can buy a restored copy and possibly reverse the damage. I still think after being here for over 6 years on the boards, that Cap 1 STILL is the best GA buy out there, restored and even coverless.....along with a coverless Action 1.
  21. outstanding results, I see why gator chose CC over Ha to auction his complete Centaur colleciton
  22. Gators collection should break records, it being complete and in one auction
