  1. i wonder what the first appearance will end up going for. Wizard magazine? DC office memo. Ennis's CAT scan. Ennis's mom's ultrasound Ennis's Dad's nutsack?
  2. Here's what does make sense to me. Since Peter's last appearance was ASM #700, Marvel builds up for his return in ASM 700.1 thru 700.5. Peter then makes his return in ASM #701 in January. Sound about right? Pretty sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but I thought the ASM 700.1 etc were out of continuity stories not playing into the current Superior storyline. I do know that issue 20 (featuring Black Cat) is supposed to be a big turning point issue. This has all been trailed on Bleeding Cool etc.
  3. This is not what happened. Wolverine...and the X-Men...were essentially ignored until 1978. Wolverine himself was almost written out of the X-Men, until John Byrne saved him. Truth.
  4. It's been delayed until next week in the UK. Not sure if there was any delay anywhere else With all the focus pn 3D, infinity, and other gadgets, This one could be a sleeper and may even have low print run. Really liked the story but I think it should be a four issue mini instead of two. I hope the finale don't feel like it was rushed to finish depends how good your comic shop is. We have these and all of the 'delayed' titles in stock, and have had since last week. Just sayin' It's great. normally have everything in & sorted on Tuesday not Thursday, just sayin Let's hope no books blow up on a Wednesday then.

  6. All Wally Wood fans should check out 'Woodwork" the superb coffee table retrospective hardcover, it is a thing of beauty.
  7. This is what I used to do when i was a kid and doing shows. I didn't have a store front, but I would take some of the books to other shops for a 5-25x flip. There were a lot of shops that did not care about anything except Silver and Gold. Everything else got priced once and went into back issue stock. They only used the big guide, and did not look at the Monthly Updates or CVM. It was like shooting fish in a barrel. Man I miss those days. With the information instantly available thanks to technology, I doubt we will ever see that or anything like it again. On the other hand, I don't miss cassettes, VHS, or the lack of TPBs we used to have. Fair trade Those days have never stopped for myself. Both in Oregon and Alaska, I would say only two stores, out of 20-25 stores, that are really "up to date" and leaders on the culture they supply, whether they don't care to be top of their business field, or are just poorly ran businesses, either way, Rare to find a store that I consider experts in the market. One of the best ran stores in ak/or is - I love Comics in Vancouver Washington, the owner Chris is a nice guy and the most well educated of the store owners I have met. I personally shop at Excalibur comics in Portland, huge selection, great people, and are an example of one of those shops that does so well, they just don't care to stay up with current tends. They know me well and a lot of their info on current stuff comes from me when they ask what up with just about everything I buy! yesterday I got the " up to your old tricks again I see, what's up with theses? As I walked up with 10 copies of catwoman 23. All other stores are current trend gold mines! Collecting is awesome in the northwest! Hahah, I love when I see stores, and they're still selling Uncanny X-Men 281 et al. for like $20, many hot 90's comics for hot 90's prices. Like man, get with the times. That was TWENTY years ago! It's like they see that those comics hit those prices, and then refuse to lower them, thinking "well, it was worth that at one point...so I don't want to LOSE the money I could have had at the time..." Many of the "valuable" comics are actually not $1 stuff, maybe like $5 at least, or $10. But when I see stuff that should CLEARLY not be priced at like $40 and up, you can immediately tell the year they stopped following comics and comic prices. Yeah, right? Us dumb comic shop owners could sure learn a thing or two from you dude. You sure seem to be a right clever fella. You are on this site a lot and obviously wise as to what's up. There are guys running shops who never change anything. I was in a shop looking through new arrivals last week and saw Origin #1 for $50. Someone may buy it for that but not if they see the entire run of 1 through 6 for $20-$30 on ebay. I have seen boxes of wildcats 2 holo cover for $10 recently. It's a dollar book every day on ebay. We have 3 very likable comic shop owners around here and they are all good enough to be in business 20 plus years. That doesn't mean they are current on what all of there stuff is worth. They have 1000s of comics that have been priced the same since the mid 90s. I hope they all do well because I like them and I love going to their shops. It's just an observation, not a slight. I get it. But while you make your comments in a polite and respectful manner Dukes just seems to love dealer baiting. It was that which I was reacting to. (thumbs u
  8. I am always picking Dazzler 1's out of other dealer's bins for £1 and selling them immediately in the shop for £5 or £6. Great cover with a nostalgic attachment for many. Also minor historical importance as being a direct market test book. Not a big money book, but an eay sell.

  10. My business partner Richard Emms is the writer. This is now the best selling Ardenn book ever. Some have pointed to the similarities in the endings to Mythopolis 1 and The Wake1 but this was actually out first.
  11. Yeah - the profit is everywhere there Lawrence - 5 boxes of unboarded books thrown in a heap. I'm rushing to your website to buy all those NM copies right this minute...... Hahahaha!! Ya, some shops just mangle comics. I HATE going in to a shop, seeing a valuable comic, and then it's folded over like a 7-layer burrito. it isn't anything to do with the shop. This is typical Diamond packing. But don't let me stop you talking Shiite. Ya.
  12. Image number 1's can be a shoot both in terms of quality and speculative potential. I am only interested in the former, and I really enjoyed this one.
  13. Don't forget most shops also sell on ebay which helps them clear overstock. There will be a handful of retailers who will have ordered a couple of thousand copies of this book or more. As there are ways of selling off the overstock
  14. I really don't know what this summer downtime is. I think it is because everyone can't order Image #1 anymore. That one variant that was just really a store variant that tried to make a mini distribution to circumvent Diamond and promised all these extras in exchange for $10 ruined that. The resources are here to go and do your own research. Participate more on the boards and you might get tips from one of the several dozen of Illuminati PM groups. At this point in the month I have made triple what I was at in February (and February was a big month for me and everyone else with Todd #1, PP #9, Black Beetle #0 and #1). one variant that was just really a store variant that tried to make a mini distribution to circumvent Diamond If you are referring to the Phantom program, every book is distributed through Diamond. Yep, even single store variants. Yet another Modern forum know-it-all.
  15. I dont know. I always see a bubble in sales for regional variants based. Bubble usually bursts after two to three weeks of book being released. Weren't Mark Jeweler's regional variants? Not regional per se, but sent specifically to US military bases worldwide.
  16. No, it's coming soon. Gaz will kindly be listing the stuff we donated on our behalf when he has all the donations in place.
  17. Captain Britain holds a special place in my heart as it was the first series I collected every issue of as they came out. I would strongly recommend the two book hardcover set; Birth of a Legend and Seige of Camelot, they reprint the whole original series, the Super Spidey and Hulk Comic stories, Marvel Team Up etc as well as original cover galleries, concept art and even designs for the mask, boomerang and jet free gifts. I have a copy of Birth of a Legend signed by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe Oh, and coincidentally both these books are included in the Ltd Edition Comix donation to the Jamie benefit sale so you can buy those and give To a good cause at the same time.
  18. Actually, our sales wouldn't be hugely different to that list. Nova is huge for us and we are still in the phase of many customers still buying all Marvel Now books, although i'm sure the drop off on secondary titles will start soon. Regular Show was also very big with our customers. The biggest difference with Larry's list would be that Cable and the X Force is one of our poorer selling Marvel titles at present, ( although I quite like it myself). Don't forget you are looking at Diamond stats. This tells you what comic shops are ordering, which is not necessarily what end customers are buying. we order big on Nova and sell through very nicely. Comic shops in general may be ordering fewer copies and selling out , thereby skewing the results.
  19. Fond memories of the 293. First Superman comic I ever got as a kid.
  20. A few months ago dealers could buy pallet loads of Battle scars 1 for pennies direct from Diamond. We sell them for £1 each currently with very little demand even at that price.
  21. A question for those of you who keep a close eye on this stuff; from say, the last couple of years what new release books have genuinly become decent long term bets? I can think of Thief of Thieves, Revival, Saga and Rachel Rising as having continued demand for first issues along with maybe New 52 Batman and Detective. Are there others or is the type of speculation which you engage in based more on short term arbitrage? This is a sincere question borne out of nothing more than curiosity. I just see these threads pop up for titles like The Vault and Great Pacific, Dancer, Clone etc, etc suggesting that they are the next big thing only for interest and secondary values to peter out. Of course not every book can be a hit, but i'd be interested in hearing opinions based on an overview of the market as a whole over the past couple of years or so.
  22. I've seen worse stocked comic shops than that! Nice job.
