  1. Unless he had them listed as cgc 9.8 why would you do that? If they were actually damaged return them. If they were in sellable condition as per Diamond criteria stop whining.
  2. Coming from you this is hilarious. You would not hesitate to do exactly the same. The only difference is you'd probably gouge on shipping as well. You really are a bellend.
  3. WTF are you talking about? I disagree with TommyVoltage about EVERYTHING. Being put on the probie list must have rotted your brain.
  4. This was a pre-order sale for 3 books. Auction states book is out April 3. That's my PhantomCS. It's one of the worst stores ever. Probably 9.0-9.2 once it touches his hands. I only buy stuff from there if I take it out of the box myself. The Phantom variants are just on a counter still boxed. Still, I bet they don't purposely overcharge for shipping on their mail order do they? Shame the same can't be said for you.
  5. I wouldn't worry too much, Diamond F up like this regularly but are usually pretty good at correcting their mistakes.
  6. Any retailer who doesn't have plenty of copies of this book is pretty useless, as the marketing of this book to stores was VERY strong.
  7. Enough with the malicious accusations, please. Come on Larry, you know you aren't allowed to profit from your efforts, only the parasi...,sorry flippers are allowed to do that.
  8. Just read the first issue and I'm hooked. I love old school pulpy adventure stuff like this and Black Beetle. The art reminds me a little of Chaykin, with Fabian looking somewhat like Dominic Fortune/American Flagg. It's a great premise, with obvious influences, but those influences aren't overpowering. The look and design of the book is awesome too. Looking forward to issue 2 after that spidery cliffhanger.
  9. Holy cow, is this for real? Retailers knew to go big on this one.
  10. Speaking of Whizzar always being right, What am I doing with these Marvel Age 25s? I have a suggestion for you...
  11. I'm just trying to clarify what YOU said. I get that if you have stated that you don't ship to international destinations people are wrong to bid. I just don't understand why you feel it is appropriate to 'way overcharge' them. When you've been here a little longer you will begin to see that reputation and ethics are valued highly. I find your policy of knowingly overcharging to be questionable. But by all means continue in your passive aggressive responses. (thumbs u
  12. How do you do that b/c I don't mind shipping internation with boardies, but have emails from people all over asking if I do international when I indicate I do not in sales. Once again, for boardies, cool. But it's a lot of trouble and cost for everyone. I can't help you there. They look on the US site if you don't offer international shipping. I get people buying stuff sometimes from places I don't ship and have to cancel or way overcharge them shipping if they say they don't care. Why do you have to OVERcharge? That sounds quite dishonest. I clearly state in my auctions that if you bid from outside the region to contact me first. And if they don't I ask them if they really want it because I only ship less than 1% of my orders international so I don't know the costs. I charged $15 to ship to Singapore for one book and it was $17. But I charged $20 to ship to Bali and it was only $9. So normally it winds up being way overcharged. They can leave me stars for shipping costs, but I have all 5 stars and I'm a power seller. Of course, you could always refund them the overcharge. I'm a power seller too if that's really relevant (it isn't though is it?).

  14. Well, that's why they're cheap, but yeah not at least bagging & boarding is dumb.
  15. Oh I get it, if you haven't heard of it then obviously neither has anyone else? You weren't buying it so why would anyone else? Jeez What are you talking about? I was replying saying I looked past it, but now that I sat down and read it it is good. And it just started heating up last week. No one was buying it. How did I get 15-20 copies from 2 stores after it was posted on here? Jeez You are probably just a speculative genius.

  17. Are you even reading this thread? For the eleventy millionth time... You try ordering enough copies of a book 2 months in advance!!!! By the time speculators decide a book is going to be hot, retailers have already ordered them. Do you know how many unsold books retailers would have lying around if they went big on every Image number 1? You are making sweeping pronouncements from a position of complete ignorance. Also, those of you using terms such as 'they' or pluralizing 'retailer', is that really what you mean, or are you talking about ONE shop where you personally had a bad experience? Too many sweeping generalisations around here for a sensible debate IMHO.
  18. Which is fine and if the LCS still has them at cover I would expect them to honour that and not change the price at the last minute because of what its selling on eBay. Exactly. In an ideal world, a retailer would order enough copies of any given book to fulfill his standing orders, plus a few for the shelves. If it's on the shelves during the duration of the week of release it should only be sold for cover. However, retailers have to order two months in advance on non sale or return goods which means that if a book like Batman Inc 8 blows up, those few shelf copies will soon be bought up and that is all good. If the retailer is smart, he will overorder on most reasonably selling titles to benefit from retailer incentives. That is his little bit of extra profit right there, and should more than cover the cost of the overorder. He will get an added benefit from having extra copies if a particular book blows up and everybody is happy. If a book is still on the shelves by the time the next week's books come in then it should be fair game for a retailer to up the price or put them on ebay. If a retailer provides previews, a standing order service and email newsletters/updates making people aware of what is coming out and the significance of certain issues, it's probably fair to say he has fulfilled his obligations to his customers. It is in the interests of the retailer to sell as many comics to as many customers as possible over a sustained period. it is in the interests of the speculator to buy up the available supply of a 'hot' issue, hoard it and then control the supply back into the market to maximise profits, while depriving fellow collectors of the chance to buy at retail prices. That's where the conflict arises and i'm pretty confident of who the bad guy is in that scenario. (hint: it isn't the retailer )
  19. Oh I agree totally, it's just the hubris shown by some of the people on here, thinking that what they say on a minority chatboard regarding the arbitrage of modern comic books has any influence on the business decisions of professional retailers is just nuckin futs.
  20. Your wife "gave" you a little "corner" of "space" in the house? Better get your nuts out of her purse brother. My whole bedroom is my comic room, whether she likes it or not. Oakman; telling it like it is since 2008!
  21. You really think that comic shops get their info from here? I keep forgetting the CGC boards are the centre of the universe.
  22. Does anyone take Bleeding Cool seriously anymore? Rich Johnson
