  1. Hey Thanks RJ! I have had the American 55 for awhile now but the French 55 was a recent acquisition! I really like the French one but the Iron Man 55 variant I really want is the Greek one! Speaking “bout” the French one I think there was a gent in the thread earlier that had like 3 or 4 French IM55’s? I bet some cash might make him rethink his love affair with one or two of his undercopies? Yes Gonza the Ebal “Run” books were all black and White on the inside with color covers I think. With the exception of the “Em Cores” which are full color I believe? Barbarian will know more about this specifically….. Here is a scan of the Ebal Spidey 53 first page as well as a closer look at the indicia…
  2. Cool, thanks for that bro! (thumbs u So it always states on the cover if the stickers are included.... good to know! "adesivi" like adhesive? Cool! Some of my recent buys.... here is my Spidey 129 set with my two newest... being the Brazilian on the far right and the Italian below! My Iron Man 55 French Editions Heritage... My Spiderwoman 1 Greek
  3. This is a Croatian book right Hector? Very cool.... very very very cool Frazetta....
  4. That's sweet, I would sub that for SS for Wolfman and Adams so fast your head would spin. You always say that Lsc! Don't get me wrong I think SS books are cool, I just would rather use that money I would spend on getting sigs/graded on other books?
  5. (thumbs u There are probably alot of foriegns of this issue..... be an interesting one to collect....
  6. Nice... I swear you must have a vault of foriegns somewhere Ches! you have like everything?
  7. I think this might just the date Conan was copyrighted RJ? This isnt new... I have noticed this on some foreigns where a pub date just isn't included on the indecia? The original copyright is though.... makes you have to go all detective and sheet! My Indian Spidey was like this too..... The only thing that clued me into it being newer was a email address on an ad? I wonder if the seller pulled some shady stuff.... hope not! Duff's link does state the book is newer form the 80's....
  8. Amazing R.J.S. I was responding when you posted - please check the link I posted. I can assure you locally printed comics were not $1.10 in Oz in 1973. Did the eBay seller state that this was the case? If so, Maybe a much later print date? This Aussie Conan I remember.... has to be earlier... Here is the link..... http://www.ausreprints.com/content/main/?pages=23525 I cant see a price anywhere on the issue though... weird... *edit* I am a dumb-! Its at the top! 50c
  9. Great haul dude! The 227's of course our my personal favorite of the bunch... the Sgt Fury could be a CGC candidate? And the Avengers La Prensa is very very very cool.... I think this might be the largest collection of foriegn WD1's I have seen so far.....
  10. Hey guys.... I would like to thank boardie Vaillant for helping me out with this one! This is the Italian Tomb of Dracula #1! It is a really cool book, but what makes this one soooo freakin much cooler is the addition of the original stickers that came with this issue. These are hard to find still on the sticker back and from what I have been told even rarer still attached to the book by the staple. Maybe Vaillant and other Italians can give us a lesson on the included stickers that came with many of the Italian issues? Earlier in this thread it was talked about how CGC lacked a way to identify properly what foreign books had stickers and what did not? And even if they did there are for sure graded Italian books floating around out there without this sticker notation? Interesting for sure.........
  11. Round 1... Polish and Finnish ASM 300's! Beautiful Liaton! Man that Finnish book presents so much better than that 5.5 gives it credit for…. (thumbs u
  12. The Hulk #1 and FFs are Australian. Published by Newton Comics in the late '70s. I've watch on ebay (US & Australia) but don't see may of these listed very often. Not sure how scarce they are though. Nice! I agree that the Aussie Hulk 1 is pretty cool! Trying to find the Aussie Conan 1 seems to be pretty difficult. Maybe a Aussie board member could chime in on rarity of these books? See, here's where collecting comics here is both a blessing and a curse. Newton books are out there. They were pretty successful back in the day and there was even a TV ad for them - pretty impressive for the mid seventies. The problem for collectors of these things is that there are not many who do collect and consequently rarely get listed on eBay. One is far more likely to find copies at second hand book stores, Op Shops and the like rather than on eBay or in a dealer's inventory. This is the two-edged sword. They are hard to find, but when found they are cheap. This is a pretty good site that lists all manner of comics that were reprinted Down Under. The link refers specifically to Newton, but other publishers also get a run. This seems to be a similar situation for a lot of these hard to find books. Small print runs, combined with low number of collectors, combined with what is perceived as a low buyers pool.(which is probably true) It’s a classic problem, how do you get owners of these books to realize that a American buyer is willing to pay in some instances real money for something many think is practically worthless? Communication is the key….. but that starts to get real hard once you get out of the Americas/Westernized countries and into Asia, Central Europe or Africa. I get the small book store thing…. man what I wouldn’t give to go hunting in small used book stores in South Africa searching for the rare Supercomix South African variants… Screw big game…. Id be hunting a different kind of rare animal in Africa. This would be my safari! If anyone knows anything about anywhere these could possibly be purchsed please PM me..... Great site Duff! Bookmarking engaged….. I also have another question? In Australia, when would you say the prevalence of bags and boards hit? The 70’s, 80’s, later?

  14. I love the cover art of the Turkish editions.... Particularly the Web of Spiderman 1 they redid.... (thumbs u
  15. I have three of the Diamond Comics indian issues, but only one of them is in Hindi, the year printed inside is 1994: The other two are with english text only and are more recent, but I can't find any year printed. Probably later than 2000. But wait, what's that? www.diamondcomic.com More information! Yay! Click on 'Diamond Comics' and 'Spider-man' to see more indian magazines. Maybe you can even order some from there, I don't know? Great find Spidercrazy! Bookmarked for further research! (thumbs u
  16. No, there were no "runs," per say; it was like 5 or six books printed, the real run, was the "Falcon" spiderman series, which I have seen very few copies of....they even printed Conan, check it out: http://www.ebay.in/sch/i.html?_nkw=falcon+conan&_sacat=0&_odkw=falcon+spiderman&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313 and of course, the very few spideys that are actually for sale http://www.ebay.in/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=falcon+spiderman&_sacat=See-All-Categories Thats cool, what about the falcon run Ches? Seen any keys there?
  17. Who knows the motivation for the english? My guess is the reason you described.... to keep a American feel to it? I think the Disney ad is pretty cool, by itself it could be of interest to Disney ephemera collectors.... I thought those Super-Eroe looked a little different.... unless a ruler is used its hard to acertain size from a scan.... Just like my screw-up above, I have seen all the early Greek Spidey run in scans but unless you actually have it in hand you still don't have that reference. This is one of the reasons I like displaying foreigns next to both thier American counterparts along with thier other foriegn brethren on my site. It helps to have that visual reference..... (thumbs u
  18. Ahhhhh since I have never actually "held" a book from early in the Greek run in hand I just assumed they were the same format as the later books in the run? Thanks for the schooling Ches?! So there were two identical runs in both languages uh? Interesting.... Do you know how far it goes into the American run? Any big keys? (hoping for a 129)
  19. It’s not a typeface. Up to the 1970s they were 100% hand lettered (both the headlines and the texts lettering). In the 1970s they started to throw in some typeset composition, because it was the fad of the day (late 1960s-early 1970s: it is cool to use typography), then they reverted to 100% handlettering in the 1980s, and then they got really low profile (last issues of "il Settimanale dell’Uomo Ragno" and the second series are often translated terribly) and then went bankrupt… We had to wait until 1985, when a few things were published by Labor Comics (very rare), including some Epic stuff and the graphic novel "God loves man kills", and then in 1987 Star Comics restarted. Star Comics eventually ended up becoming Marvel Italia first, and then Panini Comics, up to now. Touché sir! That’s very interesting indeed…. Typesetting is cool but there is nothing like good ole fashioned hand lettering. Man, you sure are a wealth of knowledge on the Italian books Vaillant! Thanks for contributing to this thread and making it one of the best of 2012! In fact thanks to all who have contributed both older guys and newer peeps! In that spirit I will share my Diamond Indian Spiderman #1 variant both a little inside and out! The book is numbered 5 and interestingly enough is all in Hindi except for that balloon on the cover and a smattering of English in some ads? Why they chose not to translate Spideys cover dialogue balloon while going thru all the trouble to translate the rest of the book is weird to me…… The size is smaller similar to the early Kabana Hellas Greek editions….. its not in the best shape but will be searching out more. Its clearly a newer book for the back ad has a email address on it. But, from my research I do think these newer Diamond variants were not printed in large numbers. Maybe Spidercrazy could fill us in on more info? He knows more about these variants then I do…. Enjoy!
  20. Actually, I got this more or less at the same time I bought the Mr. Miracles, and I prefer the original cover. Although I agree that in the early 1970s they tended to make the covers a little too crowded with lettering blurbs et al. What I liked about Corno is that, since they recolored most books, they usually had a good designer when it came to choose colors. Here there is a good color harmony between Mr. Miracle's cape and the mag logo. Don't get me wrong I love the original cover.... I just feel like this composition, the way they reworked it is very beautiful. Like you said great color harmony just enough art and very little in the way of text to clutter it up! (thumbs u I really think the Corno books were done very well! The font for the title is pleasing as well....
  21. Those are sweet Gonza! (thumbs u Gotta get me some Tonies bro.....
  22. Thats Kostas? I know of him, I have talked to him before? Just didnt put 2 and 2 together for EBay..... yea, he is a real nice guy! (thumbs u
  23. Already checked, no dice.... I got my Spiderwoman Greek from him.... but he shipped it in a manila envelope with no backer! I should have followed my own advice I always give others to ask foreign sellers to ship securely..... for some reason I didint and my book was pretty beat up! If you do pick this up Von_Doom do not forget to ask him to ship your stuff with a stiffener....
