  1. I know he's jealous... Remind me to post a video I made about these! Freakin high grade is right dammit! You could say I am a little jealous.... but when the pangs of jealousy started pangin I reminded myself that I cant hog all the freakin high grade stuff out of Italy! I tell ya what though, having a higher grade Italian book in hand is somthing of beauty. For whatever reason Vaillant has this weird super human ability to come upon amazing conditioned books.... its like he is some kind of comic sourcing savant.... I am digging that Cloak and dagger too BTW... (thumbs u
  2. That is pretty cool - is that custom art for that specific issue, or is it a pinup or something from another Batman issue? They, for whatever reason, used the art from Detective Comics #457 but opted to go with the white on black image. There is another one I think maybe the swedish? That opted with the monochromatic cover as well..... freakin killer book though! edit: I found the Swedish scan..... Interesting enough in all the other issues in the Swedish run they are in color for the most part? I think the same for the French one you have Tim. I wonder if DC might have lost the color seperations for the press? And when it came time for DC's licensing dept. to send the foreign publishers the art they were like recolor it or whatevs.... However it happened I like it, what a cool set to aquire....
  3. Yea... it makes for some very interesting re-imaginings when the foreign publishers used interior art for the covers. Cool book! (thumbs u Sorry bout the grade expectations but one of the first thingsya learn in the foreign game is your ideas of condition have to be readjusted. In many instances just finding the damn book and getting it safely in your hands is a victory regardless of grade.
  4. Its on the agenda, I had a bid on a good one with the cutout Xwing a while back and got outbid...
  5. I like the idea... (thumbs u I dont have anything near as pretty as that 9.8! Great book BTW! But, I do have a interesting foreign set to contribute... American, German, French Canadian, Mexican, Greek... and a deal on a Dutch in the works...
  6. I bet you paid like 20 bucks or somthing uh? God I wish every day I had been chasing the right things back in the late 80's. If even 20% of my allowance had been spent on quality instead of manufactured collectability.
  7. Welcome! Love your play on words with this.... I think at this point any copy of this book is cool in my book! (thumbs u
  8. Figured.. in the foreign variant mood.... American, French Canadian, Greek
  9. My latest buys..... Spotlight 5 Italian... High freakin grade! Mexican Star Wars 1 A weird novaro digest size that I had never seen... Greek Mcfarlene Spidey 1 Brazilian Spawn 1 with poster intact! The biggy! The ultra rare Greek Iron man 55! 1st red Sonja Mexican... nice page quality! Italian Ghost rider #1 Dutch Web#1 Dutch 1st C&D, I was very happy with this one! Dutch 1st Kingpin This one I was very excited about! Dutch Infinity Gauntlet, come on Thanos! Supes 236... Novaro Mexican One of my favorite things to do is to compare/contrast covers… I scanned my American book for this and I love looking for differences in the covers however subtle…. The devils pitchforks, some different coloring in the flames and what appears to be less blacks in the color separations of the Mexican cover…. All make me very happy! Merry Christmas to me! Thanks again LSCOMICS!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing in my foreign maddness!
  10. Story would much better with a picture.... WTTBs!!! +1 WTTB I'd be interested in seeing some pics too. Welcome! Love to see scans.... The UK pence variants are very interesting indeed..... 11. Sweet! @143ksk: Stop it, you're probably making Liam drool. What are the publication dates on those? They definitely look older. 1962, I think... Liatons eyes are popping out of his head! (thumbs u Great books! (thumbs u
  12. Very impressive Ches! Quite crazy in fact.... I dont think the average collector realizes how difficult and impressive this type of feat is! Congrats friend you deserve all the accolades you get for this one!
  13. I have been working and dealing with Valiant many times over the past year. He is one of the most trustworthy/solid/knowledgeable collectors I have met here on the boards. Dealing with him is a pleasure and books are always shipped timely and securely. Triple A+ seller! (thumbs u

  20. For the #252, surely. It’s impressive, and very fascinating. Yea both Liaton and Chesperito have extremely well thought out foreign focuses when it comes to Spidey.... amazing collections! (thumbs u
  21. Heck yea its nice! Like VF looking for sure! Gotta love those Bats too! though I have a question Marmat? Now we know that Novaro art was licensed for the EPUCAL editions in Columbia….. But as far as I know that was the only geographical difference in Novaro art that I had ever seen. Notice the differences between the books you posted and scans from the Novaro run on GCD. The GCD database has Novaro books of both types there so that doesn’t really answer any questions? Some have speculated their might have been different Novaro printings, some rarer than others? Or maybe different runs slated to go to other Spanish speaking countries? At this point I am not even sure the Columbian EPUCAL books were printed in Columbia or on the Novaro presses themselves in Mexico? Lots to think about…. Can you shed light on what you think might be going on? Thanks! Love the books BTW! Is it possible a Spanish as in Spain Novaro variant exists? This is what I know about this subject. Editorial Novaro was a huge, and still is, a publishing company based in Mexico. Starting in the early 50's they begun to translate superhero comics for the spanish speaking market; this includes latin America and Spain. They had production plants in almost every country. The difference in colors are probably not an intended variant, I mean, it was not done in purpose. I think it was more like a difference in the color mix during the printing process. But they do translated the text for any country. In Spain, there are lots of words that are used in a different way compared to South America countires and viceversa. So yes, there are spanish variants, but not because of the covers, the difference is on the texts inside. Tomorrow I'll check what the indica says, maybe I can find more information I figured there wasn’t much difference… But the covers do have subtle differences in the black plate… Also, if Novaro had printing companies all over the Spanish speaking world that means certain cover differences might be regional printing issues like differently mixed inks, better presses, better bindery etc….. on top of the difference in translation and maybe even different ads. Wow, this is pretty cool info… it would be like if Marvel printed the same issue using Marvel art simultaneously in different English speaking countries with small regional quirks. It would drive collectors crazy trying to find all the different “official” books. Would some “variants” be more desirable? The colors of at least one of the Spanish Novaro books sure do look to pop more? I found all my Bats 227’s from a contact in Uruguay and 2 had a similar color variation but one suspiciously didn’t? Very interesting…. Does the indicia tell ya anything about where the Spanish books were printed Marmat? Thanks for the info! (thumbs u
