  1. Looks great Liam! Your colelction is really coming along!!!! Tons of great books being posted guys... keep them coming! (thumbs u
  2. If you like that one, then you would really like the Brazilian Ebal or the Mexican Novaro, both printed just a few months after US original. Here’s my Ebal. I´m pretty sure someone here has the Novaro. I'll take that as my cue. One of the most iconic bats covers of all time.... how could any of us keep our hands of this books foreign brethren..... my novaro next to its American cousin... fingers crossed the EBAL book is on its way to me now!
  3. Pretty threesome! The one on the right (German?) is a nice contrast as it shows more details on Black Panther with the lighter colors. Yes German... (thumbs u I just sent the money on a deal for the Dutch one today so I hope to have that addition to this set soon.... Yea, I like the lighter colors as well.... I agree its cool to see more detail in Black Panther's outfit! (thumbs u
  4. Im starting to think your "luck" is actually a inability to sleep! Your eyes on target far outweigh the time that a normal human who needs sleep and rest can produce..... Well maybe that dedication coupled with a little luck sure can explain alot! (thumbs u
  5. Another day and another round of beautiful Mexican Novaro's added to your collection Tim! I love that cover of Weird Western Tales man.... and on a doubley rare novaro its even more
  6. Some recent aquisitions.... new sets started and old ones expanded.....
  7. IMO a much better investment than the ASM #700 variant. I would have to agree.....
  8. I see now why you consider this one of the coolest western covers of all time Tim! Freakin nice man......
  9. Comics at that time were 17 or 18 pages and Vid wanted to fill the 32 page quota that Novaro used to offer. They did not want to include an extra filler story, so they would take a single panel of any given page and then blow it up to fill an entire page. This was initially done by photographic means and the end result was disastrous as the quality of the line would look terrible. I told the editor that I could trace (or retrace) the drawing in pencil and then ink it to give it a better line quality. And, Lo and behold! He agreed! Awesome, I especially like your personal touch by adding your initials.... What a way to leave your mark!
  10. Is this the reason why many Novidades books are more expensive than the older La Prensa or Novaro? I don’t understand how sometimes the 1980´s reprint is more valuable than the same book, printed in the 1960´s or 1970´s by La prensa or Novaro. You have an explanation for this? Ahhh I see..... So what you are saying Gus, is there wasn’t a real back issue market for the early 60-70’s stuff? Interesting…… also explains why many of the early La Prensa and Novaro stuff is hard to find in better conditions. If there wasn’t love for these books from 80’s and newer Mexican collectors it makes sense that many of them were resigned to the dust bin of history and exist now in a very poor state! Without a real market for them it’s a wonder any of these early books survived in grades above fine…… Im telling ya, those early 60’s Mexican books are sooooo very difficult to find in decent conditions. Decent page quality is also something you very rarely see these book have….. I have 2 early 60’s Mexican Batmans that I picked up almost on page quality alone. Finding these books without completely tanned or brittle pages was a treat for me…… To think they survived without bags and boards for so long. One of the reasons for these books page quality was a interesting story…. And one of the reasons I collect comics is for these interesting stories. Apparently a antiques dealer from Canada visited Mexico while on vacation in the early 80’s and while there happened upon a comic book store. Out of pure curiosity he purchased a small collection of close to a hundred books I think. He brought them back to the frigid temps of Canada and put them in a box in his basement where they sat for another 30 years. Well the seller had been picking the antiques dealers basement looking for items to buy when he came upon the box of old Mexican comics. He bought the collection from the old man and started selling them piecemeal on Ebay. There was a Frazetta golden age cover in that collection that I regret to this day not having the money for….. the page quality of these books was amazing and the story of how these 2 Batmans ended up in my hands is very rewarding to me….. I love this hobby, and the stories told within it make it so special…. Sorry for the rant…..
  11. 3...2...1 (Chespirito's head explodes) Yea, whats the back story on these Spidercrazy? A mail order type thing uh? Very cool!
  12. Nice! Tough to find I take it? Nice, lovin that 1st Punny!
  13. Freakin nice shape for Arabic books too! Arabics are always soooo beat up.... these are very very very nice Hector! Well.... that top left corner..... but still...
  14. Nope! Interesting that you would ask, though. This was the first Mexican variant ever to get a second print. And they told me it had not sold well when I translated it! Wait wait wait!! Are you telling me....that YOU personally translated this??! :o De pura casualidad...te llamas Gustavo Medina? el mismo Blogspot de comics de La Prensa? Ese mismo soy yo. y, sí, también le he enviado varios comics de Los Hombres-X al Blogspot de comics de La Prensa. ¿Tú también has publicado algo ahí? How amazing to have a former creator from Novaro visit this thread! Welcome! I agree a signing would be cool to do..... so many questions to ask as well my friend...... we have speculated so much when it comes to Novaro and the licensing process Gustavo. Do you mind if I ask a couple questions about your time at Novaro/vid? In the meantime, you will find this forum is a wonderful place to hang out..... I must say this is freakin awesome sir!
  15. Thats cool, you should find a cool Frazetta foreign! (thumbs u !m warnin ya though.... this niche can be hard to stop once it gets hold of you!
  16. Bad- set..... Tim! Im telling ya bro, I think this one could hit 10 books... I know if its possible you will probably be the first to hit it!
  17. All great books guys! Those russian disney's are quite interesting as well....... Yea Marmat, LSC had an idea of petitioning the forum masters for a whole foreign section. I don't know if they would go for it, but it seems like this thread is constantly moving....
  18. Great! Gotta love La Prensa anything! one thing I have noticed with the early La Prensa's. They seem to be much wider than the American book. You can even tell in the art? I wonder what the story is on this? Maybe the Mexican press width was unchangeably different...... cuz you would think they would want to save money with the shorter width? We need to get feelers out into Mexico to see if anyone could possible answer some of our questions about the printing and licensing process?
  19. Are you ready to have your mind blown? peep this! Unfortunately this secret wars 8 is a fan translation? A damn good one though from what I can tell! I do know there is a miller daredevil chinese trade that I saw somewhere, but for the life of me I cannot remember where? just what i'm looking for, except i want real stuff... cool though. Not really interested in trades... Your not alone! You and just about every other foreign hunter that thinks the Asian written characters are supercool. Speaking of cool looking written languages! We have seen Japanese stuff, Russian stuff, Thai stuff...... but the Chinese market seems like a tough nut to crack! Remember also that the Chinese markets are pretty highly regulated and anything American culture related has to go thru the Chinese censors.... At least on the mainland! Hong Kong and Taiwan are probably where we might find the majority of American stuff licensed or not. The trade comment is an interesting thing as well.... I respect your desires for comic only trust me! But, let me comment on that..... I used to think that I didn't want foreign "trades" either, but in some countries the trade is the book. But then again what is a trade? A combo of previously published single issues? Well in some foreign countries they packaged a lot of our stuff together... are those trades? Yes, you could say so, but what if that is the first time that specific American licensed material made its debut in foreign country X? Much of the Italian stuff could be considered trades.... they packaged Iron man together with ghost rider etc. etc. My position evolved on this issue, not trying to discourage you from your position..... just something to think about. The search continues, but as of yet.... no printed Chinese material besides that Daredevil I saw...
  20. Hey forumites! I need help, does anyone remember the boardie that collects the foreign FF112's? I have somthing I want him to check out, but I can't remember who he is? Thanks!
