  1. Been awhile since I hit this thread up... I have slowly been acquiring foreigns for my set over the years. Not to shabby I think....
  2. Love this book.... I had this in my home the other day. Decided I should take a picture of it....
  3. A couple of years ago, someone sold a high grade complete run of Uomo Ragno, issue 44 was in VF/NM shape and sold for over 3000€. Never saw another with the medal one since today, it will probably go for over 2000€. Holy smokes that's cool!!!!! WOW!
  4. Wow, really nice books guys!!!! Here is something I thought id share in the foreign thread. I guarantee its not something most have ever seen before! Marvel speaks Your Language from Matthew on Vimeo.
  5. Yup, Marvel is hitting on all cylinders for sure.... Shield was a dud to me but how could it not with the limitations of TV budgets and mainstream broadcast rating limitations. Im starting to worry that Preacher might have been better served on Netflix than AMC?
  6. The word on the street is.... im not 100% sure because I cant read Spanish! Is, that it was all a dream. This is how they fit it into the continuity. Peter married Gwen and it was all a dream...... there are 2 camps of thought. Apparently La Prensa sent representatives including the writers and artists to New York to discuss with Marvel the Mexican story lines and basically what they were wanting to do. Now once they get to New York the story splits into 2 parts..... one line of thinking is Marvel gave permission to the La Prensa representatives to create the non-canon stuff.... the other line of thinking is that the permission was never granted and that the non-canon stuff wasn't authorized but the publisher went ahead with it anyway. Who knows.... but this is a future story for foreign comic collector magazine for sure! (thumbs u
  7. Ok, South African books are extremely tough to find even in South Africa itself. So this is an extremely cool find. As far as value that is a tricky question? If the South African book is a key of some sort than you could probably sell here in America much more easily. But, if it is not a key your better off attempting to find a buyer in SA itself. There is a pretty hardcore group of South African collectors that scoop this stuff up whenever they find it key or not. And certain books are rarer than others so its possible even though a book isn't a "key" per say it could still be very valuable on the South African market. Bidorbuy.com is one option, or the best option I think is to go directly to the expert on SA comics! George at supercomix! http://southafricancomicbooks.blogspot.com/2011/03/supercomix.html Are there any other SA books in your fathers collection? Probably right now the most sought after SA books for the American market are the bronze age supercomix books that printed DC and Marvel material. Now if you find that stuff def get back to us..... I can find buyers for that stuff all day long! (thumbs u Or feel free to PM me for more info.....
  8. I think the non-canon Spider-mans are especially interesting. It's the same characters but newly made stories using cut-up images from other issues and some new drawings, usually adding inches to the breast and measurements of MJ and Gwen. They diverged from the Marvel canon in many ways (even married Peter and Gwen at one point). Suspect if they were in English they'd be collected more heavily. But even in a different language a guy can appreciate classic spidey poses combined with exaggerated latina femme fatales. Yup, very interesting! Jose Luis Duran is very well known and loved in Mexico for his work on these..... here is a rough translation about him...... MAESTRO JOSÉ LUIS DURAN-EL SORPRENDENTE HOMBRE ARAÑA Legend of LA Mexicana Cartoon began his career in 1953, he collaborated on the magazine Piel Canela. In 1957, working in the advertising department of El Sol de Mexico, he made his first cover for Santo the Silver Masked and to Adelita, José G. Cruz publications. In the early 70s, he became the first Mexican to officially draw Spiderman in the comics created specifically for release in Mexico under the seal of Editorial Prensa. He participated in The Phantom Pilot and worked on the design of the Pantera, along with Daniel Muñoz and Juan Alba, as well as in the weekly issues of this cartoon. He worked for 15 years to EDAR, today Grupo Editorial Vid, making calls minis (Horror, Mystery and Legends). Co-creator of The Girl Kung Fu collaborated Sensational Sensational Terror Struggles for EDITORIAL EJEA among other series. He also served as art director of MACC Division Comics, who published over twenty titles for Marvel Comics in our country. Collaborate in the Heraldo de Toluca doing political cartoons. A GREAT VALUE. We have a dedicated thread at our boards about these books.... feel free to join the convo! http://foreigncomicdb.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=261 Personally, I think these books are still not very well known amongst collectors here in the states. I think as more awareness about these books gets out there we might see more and more hardcore spiderman collectors seeking these out.
  9. I mis wrote... I meant doesn't really matter..... not "does"
  10. Been a good Month for me book-wise!!!! Greek Xmen 133 Some amazing Wolvie Indonesian books! A Canadian Marvel Movie Showcase! My Star Wars set is growing like a weed... Some killer high grade McFarlane Copper Spideys Claudio sent with my Spidey 201. Another addition to my Star Wars set. Mexican Spawn! Thai Wolverine 1 Spanish Infinity Gauntlet... Greek 129 And ahhhhh my baby! One of the most beautiful of the non canon Mexican Prensa Spidey's Satanica! German 1st Him! La Prensa Iron man #1 Newton Aussie Iron Man #1 with poster intact!
  11. Yea this makes sense Claudio, My guess is most Italian collectors care little about slabbed books anyway so.... it doesnt really matter. (thumbs u
  12. CGC is torturously bad at detecting extras with foreign books. In fact I have often seen books labeled with the wrong country or language. They have no foreign experts on staff nor do they seem to care about it. Foreign books come in so infrequently I don't see this as being anything that will change in the future. An Italian book without stickers or poster should be labeled incomplete similar to a Spidey 238 without tatooz. If you want accurate graded foreign notes you will have to go somewhere else.... BTW AMazing books XXXPHOENIX!
  13. The poster that Claudio showed doesn't appear to have staple holes where it was attached. But, then again we can get real up close. Like others have said books with stickers and posters included do demand a premium. The stickers were attached at the staple. I own 2 books with stickers both loose and attached and I gotta tell ya.... these 2 books because of this are the jewels of my Italian collection. I think Tim(LSComics) might have the first Corno Thor with a poster included? Ill ask him….. If the books were to be slabbed they would get the incomplete designation but honestly it doesn't matter like with the tattoz. Like others said the print runs were so small there is still a market for a nice Corno in decent shape! Claudio will know if the posters were attached… Corno also glued little medals/coin thingies on some covers… the Italian Spidey 50 comes to mind….. imagine trying to find one of those with the medal still glued to the cover!
  14. Andrew, I can try to find one for you if you want, but with the poster it will be very expensive. This is a copy I managed to find for Tim, without the poster. I obtained it from a dealer that is my friend for around 100 Euro, but it usually goes for more (at least 150 Euro) in decent grade. The poster looks like this, and can be very expensive. This is a copy on eBay.it priced at 700 Euro, which I guess it’s pretty crazy and of course it’s still there. I can ask to my friend dealer if you want, I also know the poster has been reprinted so maybe you could settle with an original and the reprinted poster? PM me if you want me to ask him. If anyone can do it Buzzetta Claudio can! The Italian cornos are wonderful foreigns especially when you can find them with posters are stickers intact! Hope you nab one!
  15. You would think the under bidder on the record setting auction would be interested in this second issue. I'm surprised at how quickly the CGC 9.8s dried up on eBay. Almost all of last year saw 5 or more copies of this comic listed at any given time! I am also curious to see if the other grades see a rise. I decided to add a Trending page to my blog. I'm thinking at the end of every month, I will write a report and add sales of note to the page. The report for January is complete: http://swcomiccollector.blogspot.com/p/trending.html I'm hoping to just report facts and not let my personal bias seep into the reports. That is hard when reporting on the fiasco surrounding the Star Wars #1 Hot Topic variant. But then, that is what the editorial blogs will be for. Great idea Ron!!!! (thumbs u
  16. Hi Friend, Yes it does! How do you remember all this stuff? not just this, but your knowledge of all the FF and other marvel stories is amazing. Chao Scott Claudio is a superhero of comic knowledge! Both American, Italian and more! BTW great book Scott!
  17. I def agree with the cross collectable appeal of this issue.... I have a very soft spot for this book no joke! this set is still missing some American and foreigns but I'm getting closer everyday to completion.... closer look at the Japanese.... The FIlipino Alemar SW#1 is rough.... but the darn thing is super rare! It has taken me awhile to source one so I was super happy to land this one. This article I wrote for my magazine has meaning in this post I think. The Greek SW#1 is a real beauty of a foreign. One of the tougher ones too....
  18. Diggin that Pre-Marvel Conan bro! Looks to be wonderful condition too!
  19. Nope, been checking SPanish Ebay lately but havent found one.... my focus on the 129 set has wavered as I have been expending alot of energy on the Star Wars #1 front. There was a Brugera on American Ebay recently but I just couldnt afford the 50 dollar price at the time. Love some help in sourcing one Marmat! Just let me know if you see one on Spanish Ebay thats reasonable. Another problem lately is it seems that the foreign EBAY regions are really cracking down on contact. It used to be that if a seller didn't specify international shipping they could still be contacted from outside the country. What we used to do in the old days was contact a seller to beg them to ship internationally. Sometimes they would, sometimes they wouldn't... now Ebay doesn't let you contact them at all. It says something like seller doesn't ship to your location or something like that so you cannot even seem to hit up foreign sellers to get them to ship internationally. More and more it seems you need re-shippers in some instances....
  20. Love the ASE with Warlock! Tim has one.... kinda just started this set... let me know Claudio!
