  1. In the spirit of keeping this thread alive.... SO I finally picked up 2 books though very very rough had been on my radar for a long time. The MACC Ghost rider 1 and the Alemar Filipino SW#1 both are rare and just haveing one complete and not in pieces is a nice thing. The MACC Ghostrider is one of those books you just dont see pop up very often. Despite the wack cover wear this book will still find a good home amongst its Italian and American brother. The Star Wars Alemar bookstore #1 is a freaking rare SW foreign! We know of a total of 5. One of which is only known as a scan on the internet and for all we know some insufficiently_thoughtful_person decided it was a reprint with no value and traded it to someone who decided to make a collage or something! This Alemar Filipino is similar to the others we have seen that appear to not have any indication in the indicia at least that it is a book licensed by a Filipino bookstore. It does state it is a reprint while dictating the pages advertising appears. All the ad pages are Alemar ad pages again similar to other Alemar books we have seen. The color though with poor registration isn't bad at all, and the general printing seems pretty good. All in all I am very very very happy to have this book and my next mission will be to do everything in my power to find another copy for my partner in SW#1 crime Ron. The Star Wars book was bought for the seller when he was a very young boy by his parents. To think the journey this book traveled to get to me and mY Star Wars set.
  2. Man the Canadian printers had a little problem with the registration uh? Cool freakin book and I bet rare....
  3. Also, been real busy and haven't been around these parts much.... Getting issue 4 out of Foreign Comic Collector has absorbed a lot of time and energy. It had to be completely re-designed and I had to build it in another piece of software at home while the needs of a Wife, 2 kids, and a zoo of pets competed with my desire to get this thing out! Anyways its done..... I have to thank everyone that helped with this issue! LSComics, Liaton-9000, gmedina64, whetteon, 143ksk, and so many others..... I hope you guys enjoy! Check it out in the joomag viewer on our homepage here..... http://foreigncomiccollector.webs.com/ Or, download the .pdf directly from our archive page here..... http://foreigncomiccollector.webs.com/archive Thanks for looking guys!
  4. I love that Italian version of Eternals..... I know you do as well Claudio! Oh BTW Claudio there is a thread on Italian Supes that needs your expertise sir!
  5. Totally agree, but pressing is something I'm not necessarily against but have some issues with... Maybe.... I'll give it a shot and see what the free graders notes say... Uhhhh - about those free graders' notes. We should talk. Got a $5 spot for an old alter boy, father? Nah... where I plan on sending this book, the graders notes are free!

  7. Bought this raw with the intention of getting it into a slab.... book looks real clean, a few minor barely noticeable creasing on back or front cover that can only be seen when angling to the light. A problematic corner ding that doesn't show up in the scan.... That darn ding! Gosh darn if I have ever seeen a book that appeared more fragile and prone to damage. The paper seems real thin and that cover screams for fingerprints and the ability to show the smallest of creases.... I was afraid just scanning the thing...
  8. Freakin nice man! Congrats to the new owner.... Its nice knowing they will be as loved with you as they were with Tim! I love the Mexican La Prensas! Of the many silver age foriegns out there it seems the Prensas were some that were printed as close to the American publishing date as you can get. Very close from my understanding.....
  9. I'm sure everyone will agree that we definitely look forward to seeing those pics. Don't feel bad, from the sound of it I was in pretty much the same state (in terms of collecting) as you once upon a time. With very few exceptions I've pretty much purged my collection of US material and have turned to strictly foreign editions. As far as FCC attending Indiana Comic Con... I think it's safe to say that Matt (Define999) and I will be perfectly happy with the results. It's not like we're selling anything so recouping expenses isn't a concern, we just want to raise the awareness about this niche of ours. IIRC the projected attendance is around 10,000 people for the weekend. Even if we're only able to get 1% of those people to take a serious look at what we're doing I know I'll consider it a success. I can resonate with you guys. I sold off some high grade marvels and GA stuff to fund my treasury, but I still love my US Editions. I have had the Foreign bug going strong this last year and finally had time and funds to make the focus change. Cheers Yup, its not a dislike of US books that drives the foreign focus. Its the fact that there is a old school hunt mentality that drives this niche that has been missing from general US centric collecting for a long time. I personally love my US books with all my heart too... but my heart has grown bigger to make room for my Greek IM55 which lives alongside its American counterpart. Or my Yugoslavian Spidey129 which lives alongside its American counterpart. ect.ect..... But be warned Foxtrot... once the foreign sickness really takes hold it starts to get a little scary how crazy you can get into this part of the hobby. Welcome aboard the foreign train sir!
  10. Yea, Stephane has this super-hero ability to sleuth out high grade EH over there. Beauty like always dude!
  11. I've notified Liaton-9000 about this. Hopefully we'll have it fixed ASAP. One of us will contact you once it's sorted out. (thumbs u Man, stuff like this blows... but give us some time, having just created the forum and database we are still trying to work out all the bugs.... Ill inquire where this is at for ya....
  12. Very cool when did you submit them??? Do you know what is the 1st foreign Turok??? Love to see new foreigns:) Thanks, got these all slabbed around 3-4 years ago. Still looking for representative foreign copies, pretty difficult to find. I think the 1st foreign edition Turok could have been the Australian run which started I believe in 1957 according to the Grand Comics Database website, but not sure Very cool. But the french one is not french canadian, but from France Very nice selection of graded Turoks! Now we need to get ya some Arabic ones!!!!!!
  13. Awesome! Cant wait to check it out! Thanks for the link above BTW! (thumbs u
  14. Im not sure what titles tagalog or otherwise DeZuniga worked on? But im sure some of those issues and any OA that comes from it would be of some real interest to anyone who is a fan of Tony's work!! Ernie Chan is of Filipino heritage and was born there but im not sure if he did anything within the Komiks world? Besides that not much else is up..... I have had to bring my purchasing way down lately... But im soon to post some scans of some books I received from Tony for my B-day that are quite freakin cool! Working on issue #4 of Foreign Comic Collector.... excited about that!
  15. First thing I can tell you is most of the older Filipino output is pretty rare here in the states. As far as I know there isn't a guide or reference that can be looked at for value info. The best thing to do is ask some Filipino collectors thier opinion. Right off the bat my assumption is this is local indigenous material and probably has its most value in the Philippines itself. The Filipino material that has the most value here in the states is the repurposed American keys which were produced over there in bookstores versions or older southeast Asia editions. Other early Filipino "Komiks" issues that might be of real value here in the states could be early Filipino material created by DeZuniga or any of the other popular Filipino artists that blew up here? But that's only speaking to the value of this book here. The book could be of crazy value to Filipino collectors? You will have to research it and ask the Filipinos here on the forum. Also remember that much of the older comic material that stayed in the Philippines is in horrible condition! The Philippines is not a nice place for paper to survive, much less stay in good condition. So what we see is situations where comics that escaped the islands and made there way to better environs seemed to survive in better conditions. What am I getting at here? The fact that the book you have in your possession might be the best conditioned version of that particular issue in existence? That book might be of real value to hardcore Komiks collectors over there! Ask Gerry? He is a real nice guy.... hit him up and see what he says? http://gerry.alanguilan.com/
  16. That is awesome! !!!!! HADO is gonna be jealous Yea Eerie... a supergirl #1 set would be pretty cool for sure! I have 3 so its more of a curiosity then a set right now in my collection.... I do think your right Tony, Hado is gonna be jealous!
  17. love the Star Wars very cool never seen it before! did you know there is a new movie coming out? I think I had heard something about that.... You know its funny… a lot of people are speculating what the new movies are going to do to the SW back issue comics market but in all honesty I don’t really care. I all I care about is that the new movies capture even some of the spirit of the original trilogy. Please Disney….. I would be happy if the new movies even captured 25% of the soul of the originals. The prequels had so little of that special something the originals had in spades.
  18. My newest books! Courtesy of the amazing RJ! With intact xwing! Mexican Supergirl 1.... good looking out Tim! Alan Class UK Avengers 57.... and the German one for good measure... The Mexican New Gods #1! Problem is the one of the corners is totally screwed..... the seller in Argentina shipped it in the classic manila envelope only! No stiffening protection. WTF man? And last but not least.... a shipment from Spidercrazy whom I am in a a huge debt to!!!!!!! Thanks bro! I owe ya.... and my 129 set def owes ya! along with some of my other sets......
  19. I believe it's not too cheap. the trick with foreign editions is that many of them are recent publications (this german Showcase 22 is from 1999), the real problem is to find mid-high grade copies of the foreign editions published in the 60's and 70's. For example, it's pretty easy to fins an italian ASM 129 (from 1976), but it's VERY VERY hard to find one like this: Marmat you should send that to CGC... A press would also help the top right corner It would be highest in census for a long time to come...Beautiful!!!!! Mine is pretty nice... thank you Claudio! AKA Valiant! (thumbs u But, my spine doesnt nearly look as nice as Marmat's. I could probably press some of mine out... but there is apretty big color breaking crease that would hurt my chances at a 9.0. I dont know? Maybe with a press I could get one on a loose grading day at CGC? Mine also has some rounded corners....
  20. A beaut.... Show the 232s side by side... Ronnie is a pretty amazing fellow! This makes your 232 set nearly complete right Tim?
  21. Love the story of this Italian "ghost" book! A book that shouldn't exist yet does.. very cool! Thanks for sharing!
  22. Ok guys... just in case you missed it in the FCC Indy con report thread? Tim and I made 3 videos at the Indy con related to foreigns. Check them out here if your interested. Vid#1 Vid#2 https://vimeo.com/90065977 Vid#3 https://vimeo.com/90137490 (thumbs u
