  1. I suppose if he waits long enough he'll probably get his price.
  2. Yes, it may be a record price, but people had higher expectations I think. Perhaps that 8.5 that will be coming up on ComicConnect in the fall had an impact on this particular sale? Maybe some people are waiting for that auction?
  3. I might've thrown a bid in if I wasn't busy and missed the ending. I wonder if the seller of the 7.0 on Ebay is going to rethink his price which is over $2K more? I was a little surprised that there was not 1 bid right at the end - seems rare - every auction I'm ever involved in always has big bids at the end to raise the price I pay
  4. Nice, solid-looking #1 - good centering. Nice purchase! Brad.
  5. It seems that Pedigree is the only site that is auctioning off JLAs lately - it has been a little slow for HG copies of early issues lately. Perhaps people are waiting for the supposed movie?
  6. Yeah, I checked out that auction about 1/2 hour after it ended. I felt that $8K was going to be the magic number on that one.
  7. Good question - I gave it a legitimate try, but I think that I would've fallen short in the end because whomever got it probably had a maximum bid of $100K (which I was not willing to approach).
  8. It finished up at $81,113 in the last second - jumped from $69,600 to that figure in the last 4 seconds.
  9. I've been watching that auction from the beginning. At this point, its getting close to being out of my range, but with a little under 4 hours to go, you have to wonder if there are a few people just waiting and the price will shoot up. You just don't see a key issue like this one, in such a scarce high grade, coming up very often.
  10. because i already own a 9.4 and at that price would be happy to downgrade to a 9.2 Ahhh...it is all much clearer to me now. It never occurred to me because I don't know the meaning of the word "downgrade" only upgrade
  11. Hmmm... If the underbidder didn't get the 9.4, why would he (or she) want to sell their 9.2? Don't you mean if the winner has a nice 9.2, he should contact you?
  12. #9 may be a key issue and all, but #10 is harder to find in 9.4 - I've seen a few #9 9.4s for sale/auction in the past year, but #10 just does not come around very often in that grade. And all it takes is for 2 people to want it to get the price up there.
  13. Actually, that was a nice little run of quality books - 8,9,10,12,13,14,15 & 17 all 9.4's - I'm surprised Pedigree had so many - must've run into a nice little collection.
  14. Ah, That was over a YEAR ago! I can't possibly be held to remembering that far back Pssst! You let me know if you're looking to unload that particular issue and I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands. Brad.
  15. Hepcat, I didn't see a scan of JLA#29 from you...is that missing from your impressive collection? Brad
  16. Hepcat, Nice scans, that #41 looks especially solid -can't see if anything keeps it from at least a 9.6. Brad.
  17. That's a very impressive collection! Personally, I could never bring myself to breaking any of my JLA's out of slabs, but I can understand others who do. I do have reader's copies of many of the issues in the run, but I still prefer to have my very best graded and sealed.
  18. Hey Hepcat, Do you have the entire run of JLAs? I'm like 5 or 6 issues away from completing the entire run - although not all are slabbed. Brad.
  19. It seems that its all about the Avengers these days and the JLA is all but forgotten. The recent auctions have not been all that strong with JLA's - makes it hard to complete one's collection - although I'm trying.
  20. Perhaps they just got caught up in the "fever" of the auction - all it takes is 2 people who want those issues to drive up the price. I purchased a #28 a few months back in the same grade for well under half what was paid this time around - but I really think that with the high grades of other issues in the auction that it actually drove up the price. Besides, unless issues are added between now and the next auction on Jan 11/12, there is nothing of interest to bid on Comiclink next time around.
  21. There was some serious bidding going on last night. I was keyed in on a couple of JLAs in particular and just couldn't get it done in either case. I wasn't bidding on the ones Tim mentioned, but #29 in particular was REALLY wanted by someone.as they ripped it from my grip in the last few seconds Oh well, I'm sure another one will come along sooner or later.
  22. Hepcat, Are you ever gonna slab any of those? Or will they forever remain free of CGC shackles?
  23. I've got to echo the sentiments - a rare high grade book like that...if you can afford it, how could you not be happy with it? Nice sale.
  24. You know what? You make a convincing argument. Looking at all the data available, you might not be in the wrong ballpark after all. Is it just the scan, or is there a slight bit of tanning on the spine?
