  1. Agreed - I won something tonight in a similar manner, having placed my high bid days ago. It hammered at under half my max bid.
  2. Seriously though, I'm not sure that "9.6" is an upgrade.
  3. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind selling this book (and the other two) right now. I don't think there is a time in the last 8 years when JLA's are LESS in demand.
  4. However, if you are holding a HG BB28, I would recommend not sending it to auction right now.
  5. Yes, if you posted ALL of your DC comics from 1967, the rest of us would have nothing to post...at least of DC, that is!
  6. Here's one that Hepcat missed from March of 1967. From a series I have some acquaintance with:
  7. Don't get me wrong...if I had that lone 9.6, I would be asking for an astronomical price as well...mainly because I would have no real interest in selling it. When the time came that I WOULD want to sell it, well then I would probably be modifying my asking price. And you never know, someone with extremely deep pockets with the desire to own it (and who has little concern for the investment aspect of the book) might buy it. Seems unlikely, but if the seller doesn't offer it, there is no chance of getting that amount. I just don't think that book will ever be worth that much.
  8. If that is the asking price, it is going to be asked for another 50 years. Completely unrealistic - a lone 9.8 wouldn't even come close to commanding that. It's not Marvel...or the first Superman or Batman - expectations need to be tempered.
  9. Quite honestly, I don't know if it is really in THAT much demand. It feels like people think it should be in demand, that it should be worth more, but it isn't?
  10. That seems good...there are no windows from what I can tell...
  11. I've got to agree - when you compare it to the one from Heritage, it appears to have many less flaws. The question is if it will hammer higher than the last one based on its better appearance.
  12. Well...the package finally arrived today. As it turns out, it wasn't the comic book...it was the auction catalogue. Comic book still not sent I believe an inquiry will be in order... In the meantime, I think I'll thumb through this catalogue to look for other books I can win and not get.
  13. I figured that other B&B 28 9.0 on comiclink was going to be a factor. I guess Doug would've fared better without the reserve on his own site.
  14. I don't know...I'd be mad if that showed up in my mailbox - the postal service just trashed it...no better than a 4.0
  15. That's a great idea! But like when I was 7 and tore the corner of the present to try and determine what it was , I couldn't resist logging on to the website to see what they were shipping me. When will I grow up?
  16. I suppose the book could've been shipped faster...
  17. What a joyous occasion! A book I won and paid for on September 18th from ComicConnect has just been picked up for shipment by Fedex today. That's right! Today! November 10th!! I'm so lucky!
  18. So, what are your thoughts? Does it hammer for about the same price at Heritage? You'd have to figure that the Comiclink copy will impact the price somewhat.
  19. With both Heritage and Comiclink both offering up a 9.0 of this book either currently (HA) or within a week and a half (CL), I would tend to think that people think this is the time to feed off of the movie hype. However, it is unfortunate that both are up for auction at roughly the same time - this will keep the prices down on both. We've already seen that the book in 9.0 couldn't top the reserve on Pedigree's auction (what was it? $80K or so?). Seems like everything is in place for the auctions for both HA and CL to underwhelm and a couple of people can probably secure a copy in 9.0 at what is going to be a pretty good bargain if held for a few more years (maybe even less). I'm certainly glad I'm not selling mine right now - seems like a buyer's market for sure.
  20. A pretty, pretty book! My resubs never go up in grade.
  21. I think it just boils down to two people really wanting the book - nothing more than that. It is a black cover, but with four 9.6's out there and four other 9.4's, it seems high. Never mind the fact that 9.6's have been in the auction marketplace more than once in the past 3 years. The seller did very well.
  22. So at $39,888, you ALMOST got it right. So close...
  23. I went after 5 different B&B's, but only ended up with this one... apparently it's either the first or second appearance of the Teen Titans, depending on whom you ask
  24. Personally, I was really looking forward to it. I loved Star Trek, Galaxy Quest and another Sci-Fi comedy, Red Dwarf. I thought the first episode was "ok". I tend to think that it needs to get better (and I will continue to watch) over the next few episodes. For me, it seems a little stuck between sci-fi and comedy and it should lean more towards comedy. That being said, many new series can take a while to find their footing - whether FOX and the ratings give the show that chance, only time will tell.
