  2. Crime Fighting Detective #14 LB Cole Cover Star Publications.
  3. Can't let the Crime thread slip off the first page. Crime Fighting Detective # 12 LB Cole Cover Star Publications.
  4. X posted in Crime thread. Super pumped when these arrived today. LB Cole creates some art with his covers!
  5. X posted in Crime thread. Crime Can't Win #42. Promise Pedigree.
  6. My intention was to note that many of the significant price increases in the Crime genre are attributed to shocking covers, or by renowned artists like LB Cole and Matt Baker. There are also a few rare ones that are highly sought after and command a premium price. Great group shot of some of the more notable books in the genre!
  7. I understand that the current undervaluation of Crime comics is satisfactory to some collectors, myself included. It was the first genre of Golden Age books I purchased when I entered the hobby, and its affordability was a primary reason for my interest. While Romance comics have seen a significant surge in prices over the past few years, select Crime books with shocking covers like Crime Does Not Pay #24, LB Cole, and Matt Baker's covers have experienced a notable increase in value. I hope that all comics in this genre will eventually see a rise in value, but ultimately I will collect what I enjoy. If there are monetary gains to be made, that's just a bonus.
  8. Yeah, its numbering continued from the Atlas Justice line with #s #53–67 and ran from May 1955 – Sep 1957. Bernard Baily &Reed Crandall did the art and Fred Kida did the cover on #67.
  9. Thanks for posting! Big fan of Crime Exposed #5 and the concrete shoes cover. Unfamiliar with Complete Mystery , was that an early Marvel title?
  10. Action, Color, and who can forget those cover balloons? Must be some more pre-code Atlas crime, It is! Crime Must Lose #9.
  11. X posted in Crime thread. Along with Crime Cases #27 above, Crime Must Lose arrived today.
  12. LOL. Yeah, I guess so. I can't remember which one I purchased first, so it could go either way.
  13. I had a brain fart last week and bought two copies of #27. The one from CC hasn't arrived yet, but since were here, may as well.....
  14. X posted in Crime thread. A few issues of Crime Cases arrived today.
  15. Making a dent in the Justice run. Four more today. #19 is probably slightly out of my preferred grade range for the title, but I just had to have the red gas pumps.
  16. More Justice arrived today. X posted in Crime thread.
  17. And, to finish it off, a nice Promise Pedigree copy..........
  18. Received another Amazing Detective today. The guy's red necktie really draws your eyes to the center of the book.
  19. Yeah, Goodman was all about selling what was "hot" at the time. When he saw EC was doing so well with their horror titles he switched several crime titles over. Ironic since a lot of the Atlas crime had been switched over from other titles earlier. If I remember correctly Crime Cases came from Lil Willie, Crime Must Lose came from Blaze the Wonder Collie, and Justice Comics came from Wacky Duck.
  20. From March 1951 Amazing Detective Cases. I was hypnotized by the colors on this cover since I first laid eyes on it. This title turned into a suspense/horror title near the end of the run, which I admittedly don't care for as much. The early issues have some amazing cover art.
