  1. I did buy these Suschas raw. I have the benefit of being two subway stops from Metropolis and checking them out with my own eyes.
  2. It's a pretty good photoshop job if that's true. It might just be that the camera was focused on the Marvel Comics #1. And all the other books were not as sharp in the photo.
  3. The re-imagined cover are a nice bonus with the Marvel's Greatest Comics and Marvel Tales picture frame books. Gil Kane and John Buscema both drew a lot of great covers in that era. But for whatever reasons, their re-imagined covers were pretty weak in comparison to their other work and the books' original covers. However, at the risk of saying something blasphemous, I think the cover of Marvel's Greatest Comics #37 is an exception. I like it more than FF #50. All just my opinion, of course. I agree except the Watcher looks more like a minder or a heavy - he was never that muscly. This is the cover I was talking about. That probably wasn't clear because I quoted Brian's post. I don't know who the big green hands belong to. It's been a long time since I read FF #50. But I think it's pretty dramatic in any event.

  5. Thanks, John. I was surprised when I saw the book. Other than Greggy's secret stash, I've rarely seen any high grade copies of Picture Frame Millies.
  6. Some new arrivals. (Thanks to Detroit Mike for the Millie!)
  7. We're all even on the books. He sent my 3 grand back with a nice email. We're shooting for 1200 to 1500 dependent on his pal selling it. We're all letting the air clear and then renegotiate the deal. I want the book, the seller does not want a neg (4500+ 100% positive), and the owner wants $$$. Any progress with the deal for the #121?
  8. Sweet book, Harry. And welcome back!
  9. I think it's still a decent price realized for the book. It seems like more than a few 9.4s (and one 9.6) have changed hands in the last three years. And that has to limit the potential buyers pool for the book. Also, Bob Storms has two 9.4s currently listed on his website. I suspect prices will creep back up after all these 9.4s get absorbed into collections. Although that might take some time.
  10. Here's Tom's spreadsheet with a little technical support. Has anyone ever seen the 9.0 FF #1?
  11. I hope you used PayPal with a credit card. With the alarm bells this guy is setting off, any extra protection you could get is a good thing.
  12. If the book is on commission, it's weird that his listing reads: I hope you get the book. It sounds like you really want it. But the seller doesn't sound like a straight shooter. The guy should just accept $1595 and be grateful for your understanding.
  13. I have a few Curator books, but this is easily my favorite:
  14. The ASM #5 was graded in 2009. It's the same book that John Verzyl sold a couple years ago in a ComicLink auction (for $97,000).
  15. Great books, Joe. As you know, that COTL #15 is really tough in HG. And the WMD #13 is no picnic either.
  16. Both. The Westerns are all recent purchases. The others were from rooting around my boxes.
  17. Thanks, Mike. It's an old scanner that's popular around here (Microtek i800) with scanning software from a different company (VueScan). But I messed around with the software settings until I found a decent recipe. Still not perfect, but way better than my old scans.
