  1. Do you have any more information on the deal that Sony reportedly made with Disney in regard to bringing some of their movies to Disney+ ? At this point despite it having a release date it could be something that could be pulled to make way for all of these delayed movies and be a tentpole release for the debut of the partnership.
  2. Dunno... It's a bandaid and maybe I am using too much of my upbringing here to form my belief here. When we wanted to see a movie, how many of our parents told us, "No, you can wait and rent it from blockbuster?" Any time they shorten or allow for the shortening of the theatrical run I believe it conditions the public to wait for it on cable, streaming, or hard copy home media. I toyed with the idea of 'renting' Black Widow, but I can wait until October. I think I will be okay and spend that $30 elsewhere. However, I did almost buy early access to Jungle Cruise the other evening. Here is my question though, what is the long term impact of Disney's film divisions when you have a Disney+ where you know that any Marvel, Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, or other similar property will land on the streaming network in a manner of months?
  3. There is a rumor floating about that the reason that Disney / Sony has not released a Spider-man 3 Trailer is because they are considering pushing the movie back. Venom 2's international release date was pushed back and supposedly there are more announcements to follow. We shall see. Um btw... Whatever happened with Morbius? At this point I really don't care about this film unless Michael Keaton is reprising the Vulture role.
  4. So after Hobbes finds his way to Calvin... there was an epilogue of sorts... Basic filler strip I think...
  5. Okay... I was going to stop at the Calvin closure but... this just took an incredible turn as they revealed where Bill actually is. Prepare yourselves.
  6. @onlyweaknesskryptonite I dunno if I am definitely going unless they have strict enforcement of protocols but I have a pass. As it is I get irritated with people looking over my shoulder and breathing down my neck when I look through boxes or am talking to dealers during non-pandemic years.
  7. They are still approving dealer / professional / media badges. I just received notification that I was approved again this year for a four day pass.
  8. So this thread got me thinking. I have known about the NP Gresham account since we discussed it a few years ago. But then I opened an email this morning. I was interested in a couple of pieces of animation art over the weekend and I got this email below. I wonder if Heritage still employs the services of NP Gresham and makes offers to other participants after the auction if NP Gresham 'wins'. I wonder if those two items available for purchase were items that Heritage was left holding the bag on after their shill was not outbid.
  9. I might buy that Fennec Shand on the aftermarket. Although there is the possibility that we will get her in one of the (most likely) Book of Boba Fett sets. The light cruiser should be around by the time those Boba Fett sets are revealed so a decision can be made.
  10. My thoughts exactly. One of the sets I was thinking of letting go was the B-Wing. I was debating letting it go with the thought process that one has not been released since 2014. I figured we are due for a serious upgrade. However, after seeing this year's X-Wing and Tie Fighter along with the Mando Slave 1... I am going to hold onto it. Have you seen the new shuttle? The new shuttle is just 'tiny' compared to what was recently released. Again, it is half the size.
  11. Okay so here we go... I think I should give it two reviews with one being how it stacks up as a Lego set on its own. The other review with how it stacks up as the newest incarnation of Slave-1. I am curious to see what @Brandon Shepherd thinks as I know he has this set as well. As a Lego set I am impressed. This was a far more complicated build than I would have thought given the size. However, there are a LOT of smaller parts and the placement and insertion of segments of the build is unusual given previous experience. For example when you build the cockpit area they sort of tuck in and then connect to the frame. There is a decent amount of SNOT (studs not on top) technique that is created which is normally seen in the more advanced sets. As a lego set it packs a lot in given the small space. The cockpit is a bit awkward in that it is designed for the minifig to face forward or to face 'up'. There are studs available to do both. I liked the build and effectiveness of the design. The cart / stand was a bit unnecessary and serves as a better stand for the vessel than a vehicle in its own right. The minifigures are outstanding. We get the post-ROTJ Boba Fett everyone has been waiting for. The costume is spot on. The beskar armor is also a welcome change from previous Mando pack ins. I did not bother with a helmet off Mando since they still gave him a black piece as a head beneath the helmet which is strange given that we know what he looked like by the end of Season 1. As a Lego set I liked it but it is definitely NOT worth $50. If you can get this for the $38 I paid at Costco then go ahead as the Fett minifig alone seems to command a $25 price tag. As the latest incarnation of Slave 1 and the future of Lego SW sets. I will come out and say it. I am not a fan. The ship is half the size of the previous model. I understand that Lego is downsizing in an effort to keep sets like these accessible to the parents and kids. I get that. The problem is that the ship looks a bit too undersized for minifig scale and crosses the border into something that could almost be considered 'chibi' design. The minifigure looks too big for the set at times. Consider this. A proper sized Millennium Falcon would seat four in the front cockpit. We see that in the UCS sets. The system scale sets which is what minifig scale is seats only two figures in the cockpit. At the scale that Lego is producing the newest sets, I fear that the next falcon will be smaller in nature and only be capable of seating Han OR Chewbacca which is not a good look. They look awkward at this scale and I almost feel as if it is a step back. As you can see I took photos compared to the previous Slave 1 which had retailed for $110 or $115 (I forget). The bigger set is not only easier to put together on the fingers but has room for customization. If you can get a used copy or a copy without the minifigures you might be better off spending the money there. If you are looking for a Slave 1 for the kiddies then this is the way to go. The problem though is that where does Lego go from here with pricing. Is it going to be these smaller Chibi style sets at the lower price point and the $250-$300 larger UCS sets as an adult alternative? The $100 price point was a nice compromise to be honest. I have put back into storage a few Star Wars sets that I was thinking of letting go of because future iterations will not live up to some of the past releases.
  12. So I built it... hm... I am going to watch Rick and Morty and come back with my review of this. I have a lot of conflicting thoughts on this set.
  13. Lego realized that their sets were getting too expensive so they promoted the 2021 sets saying they would make the sets smaller but pack in the detail to keep the price down. Costco has the new slave one marked down from $50 to $38. That’s a steep discount for a set that just came out. Since I almost paid $25 (going rate) for the Mandalorian version of Boba Fett, buying the entire set for $13 more was a no brained. Let’s see how it stacks up to the previous 40th anniversary model.
  14. The people buying boxed and retired sets are merely buying boxes. Lego is one of the outliers in collecting since most anything can be assembled from sourced bricks. Now there are rare exceptions. The $800 Falcon is the only set where you can purchase that nosecone. I believe that the Diagon Alley set is similar due to certain elements only being produced in certain colors that are exclusive to that set. Now the same holds true with the minifgures. There are some minifigures that are issued across multiple sets such as certain prints of Batman or a Stormtrooper. Then there are certain prints of a minifigure that are only available to one or two sets such as Zeb from the Rebels Ghost Ship. Zeb was only issued once and in that set. Ordering the replacement parts is the no brainer. I was thinking of selling my loose copy of 79018 (Lonely Mountain Hobbit vs Smaug Set) in the last Lego thread I ran over in Mixed because that seems to go for a decent amount of money.. but... I was missing one scale on Smaug. I ordered that along with a few other pieces I needed. Set is complete and as of now, I like the set enough again to keep it in the cabinet in my home office. I would never sell sets unless they are 100%. It's lazy to do that. The value of the set does increase significantly if it is absolutely 100% complete because a lot of people don't want to take the set that you or I would do and buy the missing pieces off of bricklink. People are inherently lazy when it comes to things like that... so... absolutely complete can command a significant premium over 'missing' one part. Now value wise? Sealed is worth a lot to those collecting sealed sets and will always command a premium. However, on the rare occasion if the available inventory across the internet is low you can start asking well above FMV and still get it when the set does not come up too often, there is demand and you are the only one selling it. Think of that scenario like a Golden Age Comic that rarely shows up at auction. Throw the guide out of the window. Complete will always beat out incomplete.
  15. And perhaps it is one of the greatest rock songs if not any genre of songs of all time.
  16. So we are on page 6 of a thread called, "I'm a poor lonesome collector and have a long long way to go..." and not a single one of you responded with: "Easy come, easy go, will you let me go Bismillah! No, we will not let you go" You're slacking Comics General... you're slacking.
  17. I reallllly liked it. It was the batsheets crazy version that I wanted it to be. I was entertained.
