  1. As far as sparkle city I wrote something once that was seemingly negative and they privately messaged me here with a very long message... shrug
  2. Lizards let it go. It's an unwinnable situation since you are engaging someone who still needs a babysitter.
  3. I just did a deal with a boardie to upgrade a book in my ASM set. I am always looking for upgrades that make sense at certain price points. There are a couple of Golden Age books that I am looking for. Larry Hama commission is a must. I will look at some of the other art as I am always interested in GI Joe pages. Might sit in on a few panels. Probably meet up with a boardie or two. i think one of my friends who runs an internet show asked if I would do an interview. I do not know yet what that will entail. We will see.
  4. As Mike said, the show can be overwhelming. You have to plan in advance for any panels that you wish to see and sometimes devote a portion of your day to wait on a line if it is something that you feel is REALLY important and is going to be crowded. I would remember though to comparative shop. Just because it is there does not mean you need to buy it at the show. If it is there and you see it on Amazon dramatically cheaper or at the same price, then order it over Amazon and have it shipped home to you for free. That has happened with a couple of things that I saw vendors have that I wanted. Why carry it? I would remember that if it is something that you can safely bring home without the box and you were going to throw the box out anyway then open it and get rid of the box so you don't have to lug it around all day. Commissions? Get the commission locked down ASAP especially if you are doing it and need a CGC witness. Sometimes that commission you ordered on Thursday is really not available for three days and must be picked up on Sunday. I know that when I get there I am going straight to Larry Hama (yo joe!) Be nice to the CGC reps. The place is insane and they really are trying to do their best. Be aware of knock offs. Seriously. You will see this with the Lego minifigure tables and some of the tables offering random transformers. I am not talking about Bandai or BBTS or any of the other licensed retailers selling MP Transformers or Third Party stuff... I am talking about some of the random vendors that are selling anything and everything. I have spotted some knock Offs and in one case... I believe the seller was genuinely surprised. And... for my peace of mind... if this is your first time around the city... please walk with a purpose if you are in front of a crowd. If you are bringing kids... FORGET ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SEE... it's not about YOU if you bring kids. Watch them. More kids go missing (and are eventually found) than most people realize. Kids wander off and adults in a daze seem to think their kid is at their hip when it is not their kid and it is really some adult cosplaying as Tyrion Lannister. If I can think of more I will list them in the thread.
  5. I would also check out the following thread, because after looking at that NM 98 I think you have a REALLY BAD Stan Lee signature. ( I hope your situation is resolved)
  6. Me? Believe it or not... by the cover? Spider-man 1 - Green cover Amazing Spider-man 301 Amazing Spider-man 312 - Spider-man and Goblin... By "value" ASM 300 ASM 301 in a 9.8 if you are feeling ballsy ASM 298
  7. Not necessarily. I will bring up the case of Lego. Lego has redesigned itself to provide an "experience" at the brick and mortar level that cannot be found anywhere else. Things they do at the brick and mortar level that cannot be done online: They have "building events" They feature models at the store created by its customers (customers own designs) They have a play area for children Things they do at the brick and mortar level that is different from Walmart and Toys R Us They feature exclusive sets designated to Lego only. They feature sets in store that other retailers only feature online They feature a pick a brick option where you can purchase specific bricks outside of sets (Lego also offers this online) There are probably more... but here are three for each. Creating an experience that cannot be duplicated online CAN be done. Toys R Us needs to get more inventive. Most likely they have to become more tactile in their approach. However, prices have to come down and become competitive. Retailers need to comprehend that I shop with a smart phone. They need to deal with it. If they cannot accept that many customers comparison shop with their cell phone in hand while at their store they need to wake up before they find themselves out of business. I wrote about my Barnes and Noble experience a couple of weeks ago. ("Barnes and Noble Brick and Mortar" will not honor their own "Barnes and Noble Online" prices.) I have not stepped foot in the store since then and they have carried MANY of the items I have had to purchase in the last two weeks.
  8. In the last 24hrs I've made two sales to people in these hazard zones... one was for $27 and the other for around $240. I asked... they said send them. $27 was covered through USPS and the other I added the signature tracking on so not if but when there is an issue, paypal will have my back. Whatever...
  9. Toys R Us cannot compete with their own prices. Not because of my love for the plastic brick but because it represents the best example. This is a typical example: Say you want a Lego set that was JUST released (No deep Amazon discount): Amazon Price $30 Lego Shop at Home Price $30 Lego Brick and Mortar Price: $30 Walmart Brick and Mortar Price: $29.97 (Walmart is the kid that likes to be different) Walmart Online Price: $29.97 Toys R Us Online Price: $30 Toy R Us Brick and Mortar Price : $40. Why ? Toys R Us cannot even compete with it's own online price. Toys R Us is not a fancy boutique. I respect that the fact of the age old argument that the brick and mortar stores have far greater overhead than the online warehouses. However, they have to come up with something different because people have options... and I work too hard for my money to waste it.
  10. A couple of good tips in this thread. I am going to add to it with a few of my own: I do not sell anything over Craigslist that is worth at most a few hundred dollars. I only take items with me to the meet up what the buyer has predetermined that they are buying Meeting is at the mall food court. I do not go straight home after the meet up.
  11. Fiiiiiiiiiins to the left.... Fiiiiiiiiiiins to the right..... left right left right
  12. And also... I have seen a few rumors... probably nothing but... never know... A segment of Animal Kingdom in Disney World will be devoted to Indiana Jones.
  13. Here is a Sound Effect Remix that seems to be making some rounds...
  14. http://ew.com/movies/2017/09/04/indiana-jones-5-shia-labeouf-not-returning/ -script near completion and there is no Shia
  15. Depends on the book. I have picked up a few midgrade PGX books and cracked them out and submitted them to CGC. Only once have I received a lower grade with CGC on the resubmit. In a couple of cases the books have come back much higher. It depends on the time period that the book was graded. There is a specific time period that PGX books were very strictly graded.
  16. Thanks Mike... and that is pretty farcical. I applaud their original intent behind verified much in the way that Steiner has an authenticity team for unwitnessed sports autographs but am disappointed as to what Voldy's guys are allowing it to turn into.
  17. I would have gone to this. Wish I would have seen this... especially at $5. I have a lot of fond memories of those RVC shows of the 90's.
